Of all my dogs these two are definitely the ones I can always count on to be right behind me. When I shower, these two fall asleep on the bath rug. When I sleep these two have to be skin to skin touching. Mamas girl and mamas boy forever 🖤

I always forget to post here and need to be more active! Over the past month Ashley has won 3 Best of Breed/Variety ribbons and 1 Hound Group 2 🧡 So proud of this little girl and can’t wait to see the amazing things she achieves!

🐾🐾 GOOD Breeders aren’t vending machines, and puppies aren’t available to add to a shopping cart.

GOOD Breeders spend years researching pedigrees and planning breedings.

GOOD Breeders spend thousands of dollars on their dogs, Titling and providing an environment for their dogs to thrive.

GOOD breeders spend countless hours on their dogs, grooming, traveling to events, or studs or vets, researching and providing care.

GOOD Breeders shed so many tears over missed breedings, lost puppies, beautiful show potential puppies whose bite goes off (or some other minor issue), losing moms, injuries or emergency illness.

Instead of searching for a puppy, seek out a breeder whose dogs you admire and whose program you love.

HONOR the breeder’s sacrifices they make for their passion for the breed, and get to know them. Ask them about their program and goals. Then be prepared to wait for your perfect match.
Breeding is truly a labor of love.

A "GOOD" breeder isn’t churning out puppies to sell them on the next ISO post, they are breeding with intention and with specific goals in mind. 🐾🐾

I am not a dog.
I am a Dachshund.
I'm half wolverine, half barb wire and all attitude.
I am either your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on YOUR attitude.
I can fight the wildest raccoon or play with the gentlest child.
I can hunt all day in snow storms, pouring rain or blistering heat and then ask you to throw the ball when we get done.
I will argue with you at every turn. After all, I know what I'm doing and the best way to get it done.
I am easy to feed. I will eat your steak or the dead, rotten rabbit I found in the field.
You will never be without a navigator in the truck.
I will protect you from burglars, raccoons, badgers and that strange pesky shadow in the corner of the house.
I will hog the bed and the couch.
I will steal your sandwich, your chair, your boot, and your heart.
You will never have to go to the bathroom alone ever again.
I will lick your face right after I eat the head off the rabbit I just killed in the yard.
I will sleep next to you when you are sick and heal you with my love.
I am DACHSHUND.
Respect me.
Love me.
But NEVER underestimate me.

A lot of people always ask me what colors dachshunds come in and this is a beautiful graphic on what is breed standard and what isn’t! Love that I have a breed with such variety!

I decided to purchase a dog not only for companionship , but mostly for security and protection.
Upon visiting a training kennel to select my new companion,
the kennel owner showed me three dogs that were ready to go and asked me to choose one. I asked, "How much is the
Rottweiler ?"
The kennel owner said $2000.00. I was shocked and asked,
"Why is he so expensive?" The man responds, "Because his breed is fierce and protective. He's trained and 100% obedient"
'How much for the Pit Bull', I asked. The man said $3000.00.
"He's the most capable fighting dog known to modern man. He has a keen sense of smell and can hear a pin drop at 50 yards.
He can rip an intruder apart". I then asked, "Well, how much for the dachshund ?" "$ 5000.00." the owner said.
I asked, "Why so much. What does she do?"
The man says, "I don't know,... but the other two call her Boss !"

This girl named Ash will be joining the KatDog Doxie family tomorrow.

I will be trying her in conformation hopefully by late summer (her dad is an import and breeder is still working on getting her AKC paperwork). She will also be participating in Earthdog, Obedience/Rally, and possibly agility (I’ll sign her up for a beginner class and see how she likes it)

She will not be bred until she’s fully health test and has titles under her belt, but so happy to bringing her into our family as I’ve always dreamed of a quality wirehaired. 🤍

Captain earned some ribbons his first AKC show this weekend! So proud of him.

For me as a breeder it’s important to title my dogs to prove they are well bred examples of the breed.

Ethel has her first BPUP show Saturday. BPUP is for puppies 4-6 months old and no points given, just for fun and experience 🤍

Don’t mind the poor lighting…we are getting an off brand ring light because we practice in our basement that doesn’t have the best lighting 🙃

Captain is getting so much more comfortable with getting into his stack. It surely helps that I have a handful of cheese, but he’s much more comfortable with me adjusting his legs to put into position.

….and little Ethel 🥹 She will be fully vaccinated tomorrow and will start going to confirmation class with Captain starting Monday handled by Steve. I tried to stack her just for sh*ts and giggles and IM SO PROUD OF HER! (Don’t mind her little belly, we just ate dinner and she’s still got that puppy gut lol).

*blocked out my face because I had a double chin cheesin so hard how proud I was of these two 🥹😂

Happy National Pure Bred Dog Day! 🤍

Something I’ve always been passionate about is purebred dog breeding. Not those who are breeding to make money, but this who love the breed and are health testing to ensure they creating the next generation of healthy purebred dogs. Ethical breeders have contracts stating if a puppy doesn’t work out it must be returned to the breeder. Ethical breeders health test their dogs and ensure all puppies are healthy.
