I take in owner surrenders, auction intercepts and purchase some direct from auction. From show jumping to a trail guide to now…I fell in love with Haflingers and then rehabilitating needy horses. So now I have a Retirement and Rehabilitation farm for Haflingers. I take in owner surrenders, some that came with their sibling or parent or friend to stay together forever. Some people want their horse
s rehabilitated and to become a child’s horse or some other partnership. Since I’m not in it for sales and therefore not on a timeline I can take all the time in the world to find perfect homes. I buy some that I see at auctions or at risk, or from bad situations. Some of these can be rehabilitated and I will sometimes find homes for them..some stay. I prefer to take horses that are at least 20 but if there are circumstances or issues that dictate they are ready to retire younger is fine too. I have excellent vet and farrier care and references and my farm is about 15-20 mins from the U of I teaching and large animal hospital. I have a dry lots, a barn, shelters, a wooded trail paddock and pastures. I like to rotate the horses around for enrichment. I feed Purina feeds, targeted supplements, alfalfa pellets, beet pulp. Grass and/or mix hay in excellent quality small bales and slow feed nets available 24/7. Once upon a time I was a veterinary technician so I can attend to illness and injury with guidance from my vet. I have experience with Laminitis, cushings, colic, equine asthma, wound care etc. I also have a wonderful trainer who helps me if any behavioral issues become serious. It is my goal to support my horses health both physically and emotionally. They are all individuals and I care for them that way. Feel free to message me with any questions if I can help you.
