Happy 3rd birthday to Bronson! This year for his birthday he spent the weekend wearing a fitted halter from his Cardiologist. Doberman’s are predisposed to Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). This halter monitors his heart for 48 hours and detects any abnormal activity. This combined with a yearly echo is recommended for any breed who is predisposed to DCM(especially Dobermans).
It really is a silent killer, pets can be completely asymptomatic up until sudden cardiac death. This is Bronson’s second year of monitoring and I will continue to do so each year. I’m often asked for advice and I’m always happy to give it. The one thing that I always say: If I do it for my dog, please do it for yours. If you have a predisposed breed (even if they seem happy/healthy) I can’t stress enough how important it is to have this conversation with your referring Veterinarian.

Running a small business is undeniably challenging. There are weeks where stress and anxiety consume every day, and as an owner, I can become physically and mentally exhausted. During these times, it can feel like I’m not seen as a real person with emotions, but rather just the face of a service.

So, what keeps me going every day? It’s simple. My capabilities and personality are not defined by my business. My business is a separate entity.

There are moments when our policies are criticized, our operations ridiculed, and hurtful words are shared. As a small business owner, I understand that not everyone will agree with how we operate or fully comprehend the backend costs and policies that support our business. However, as a human being, I also have to consider the livelihoods of the team members who support our business every day. Without me standing up for our operations, this small business wouldn’t be able to run efficiently and might not even be able to stay open.

As we approach the final months of 2023, I urge everyone to remember that behind every small business, there is an owner with real feelings and emotions, working tirelessly to keep their business afloat.

Please be kind, patient, and supportive of small businesses and the people who operate them, not just today, but every day!

POST THREE: Vet tech week! Common myth debunking - Our “Kickbacks “ are garbage. This is a pretty raw subject but it’s honest. It’s frequently heard that vets/techs get these grand rewards for recommending products, that’s not true. Not one company has paid for my vet tech school or sent me on a tropical vacation. Same goes for every Doctor I have worked under. The best I ever received was a 5lb bag of Iam’s cat food in 2012…that’s it, that’s the best I have. If your Doctor/tech is making recommendations, it’s because it’s what we truly believe that’s the best for your pet. Pictures below are some of our kickbacks 😅

🎄🎄 We have officially kicked off our annual Christmas donation drive for the Humane Society! Our mission is to stuff Kritters full of supplies for the Oakland County Humane Society. From now until the end of the year, I will take food, blankets, towels, treats, toys and any other supplies that you and your pet no longer need and drop them off at the end of the year for the pets in need. As a thank you, I will be offering 10% off your appointment total with a donation.

I just wanted to pop in and let my current clients know that I’m still available for calls/texts. I’m not able to check my phone often so it may take a little longer than normal for me to respond. 🚨New(hopefully better) policy in place: Moving forward if we have an appointment scheduled and I go on vacation or need to reschedule, I will now be offering weekends as a makeup day. I learned from the Savannah trip in May that moving people into the week is not fair to others already in place. During May, I was extremely overbooked trying to get everyone in during normal hours. With this Louisville trip, I have moved everyone to the weekend and it worked out so much better for all! I’m two years into my little business and I’m still working out the scheduling kinks. For everyone that has stuck around during the learning process, you have no idea how much you mean to me ❤️

🚨 If you are scheduled for today. As some of you know our chief of security Bronson has been having some urinary issues this week. He is scheduled for an X-ray with his Doctor late in the afternoon. I will need to move a little faster today than normal to get him there on time. (Nobody is getting rescheduled, I just need to be in and out) ❤️
