We're back! Did you miss us?

Thank you for sticking around while we took an extended break away from social media.

We've taken a month off to reevaluate exactly what we can and should be doing within our set boundaries. In cat rescue, it is so hard to turn down animals in need, but unfortunately we had got to a point where we were overcapacitated and for too long.

While we can assure you that every cat in our care has always recieved as much support and love as possible - they needed more than we could physically provide.

Thank you to everyone we've worked with in the last month or so who has been incredible enough to take on some of our cats so they could receive the best possible care. While we feel a little lost without so many furry friends around, we know it's absolutely for the best.

As for the future of Nikki’s Cat Sanctuary, we plan to continue working with fosterers only (please let us know if this is something you'd be interested in).
This means once we have secured permanent homes for our current rescue cats, we won't be keeping anymore cats on our premises. Instead, we will act as a halfway house between cats and their new Foster families. More on that process coming soon.

For the time being, please keep an eye out for new adoption cards in our photo album!

Are you in the position to foster a cat with the intention to adopt?

Yesterday, 13 cats were surrendered to us and we do not have the means to care for them adequately.

If you are available to foster one of these cats (and adopt them if you feel they are the right fit for you), please message the page immediately so we can give you a call.

Unfortunately, we cannot pay fosterers for their services, as we are not in the financial position to be able to do this.

No cages for us!

Unfortunately, cats that socialise with their feline friends get poorly more often, however we think the reward out way the risks when it comes to seeing just how well our cats get along and care for one another. Bundles like this aren't a rare sight at Nikki's!

Safe to say, almost all of our adoptable cats are happy to live amongst other cats and kids.

You'd be very much forgiven for not recognising Moose. We have never been able to get a good photo of Moose, because he's usually deep in hiding! Last night, however, he came upstairs and spent the evening with the family. He is the sweetest guy, (even if he did wake Nikki up at 3am after jumping on her for cuddles 🥰)

Thanks to you wonderful people and your kind donations, we were able to book in for surgery for little Terry's eye.

Due to an ulcer on the cornea, we had to have Terry's eye removed.

Sweet Bubbles had a similar surgery earlier this year, and we're confident Terry will recover just as well as Bubbles did.

While it looks a bit sore, we can assure you he's in a much better way than he was. We'll keep you updated on his recovery ❤️

Hi all,

We are under another major financial strain due to the number of cats we currently have in residence.

We have seven urgent operations (not including the vast amount of neutering and spaying we still need to do in order for our kittens to be adopted) and we are very much in crisis.

As always, we encourage you to give whatever you can as every penny helps us towards treatment for a cat.

While we try our hardest to keep things light and positive, we really are struggling to afford much needed, urgent treatment for many cats in our care.

We cannot reduce our numbers until we can have cats adopted, and we can't have cats adopted until they are neutered and health checked. Please give what you can.

This sweet Momma is Faith, who came to us a few days ago with beautiful Belle and her newborn kitten, Paloma. Today something truly miraculous happened - Faith laboured and had a second kitten 4 days after her first!

This is incredibly rare and often results in still birth. We are still in shock. What do we call Palomas' sister? ❤️

We found out today that Batman passed away last week.

We are so upset to hear that this sweet guy has gone, and our thoughts are with Mum Karen.

Batman came to us as a stray mere months ago, and he settled into domestic life rapidly. He was the loudest, funniest, loveliest soul and we are so heartbroken.

He touched a lot of lives and had a huge impact on us at the rescue, especially. We want to thank Karen for making his last couple of months the best they could possibly be.

Love you Batman. We won't forgot you ❤️
