Dogs in Egypt are so cute. Many are well looked after by locals just in terms of people leaving out food and water for them. Most though are tick and flea-ridden. Many have multiple litters of puppies one after the other like some sort of back-street puppy mill. Where I catch my daily bus is a posse of pups. These lovely dogs almost look like NZ farm dogs. They live a good belly rub and scratch. I don’t care about the fleas and ticks. All dogs deserve a little bit of lovin’.

Riff Ruff Dog Collars is in Cairo! I’m having a bit of a looooong break in the land of pyramids and weird man-lion-cat statues.
What about the dogs!?!
Well - there’s plenty and I even spent a day at a dog shelter and will be heading there once a month at least to lend a hand with cleaning; de-ticking and other things.

Riff Riff Dog Collars wishes everyone a fantastic 2023 full of doggy walks and licks.
I am taking a loooooong break (until mid 2024 at least), as I start a new chapter in Cairo, Egypt.
I want to thank all those people who have supported me - especially when I lost my job in the November 2021 Mandate round. Making collars saved my bacon!
I also wish to thank JR’s General Store in Fairlie who are now stocking my collars.
May your walks be long and your poo-bags be strong.
Here’s a wee throw-back photo from 2019 of Heidi. Heidi is in Nepal and was cared for by a dog shelter there that I volunteered at. I wanted to bring her back. But didn’t.

Hello Riff Ruff fans! Its been a while! I have been away for a few weeks but have managed to hit the bench a few times this week in between doing my 'real' job!
Here's the offerings this week:
Seven dog collars made this week.
Two are the wider variety that narrow down at the front (5 cm to 3.5 cm). These are both studded at the back and embossed. One is larger than the other 57cm total with holes from 41 to 47 cm (pink lining); the other (orange lining) is 53 cm total length with holes at 39-45 cm. These are $75 each.
Two have decking chain (suitable for working dogs). Chain is 40cm total including clips. Collar lengths are 52 cm total (aubergine) with holes from 44.5 to 50 cm. The other (teal blue) is 60 cm long total wit holes at 35-47 cm. These are $55 each.
Three smaller collars as follows:
1. Extra small embossed (orange lining) suitable for a weeny teeny dog. Total length is 27 cm. Holes are from 17.5 to 23.5 cm. $35
2. Teal blue with brass hardware is 54 cm total length with holes from 32.5 to 44 cms. $35
3. Two-toned teal plus brown is 40 cm total length with holes at 28 to 35 cm. $40

Small collars can be made in a range of colours and hardware options. These collars pictured are:
Bright Pink: Small (24-33 cm neck range)
Pale Pink: X-small (19-26 cm neck range)
Small (24-33 cm neck range)
Both pale pink are 15mm wide and the bright pink is 16mm wide.
Pale pink has silver hardware with smaller more delicate buckle and the bright pink has brass hardware with a heavier roller buckle.
All are fully lined and top-stitched and have ONE dee (options for additional rear Dee is available). Prices are $35 each.
