UPDATE!!! ADOPTED!!!

Waiting for a burger……waiting for my forever home…..
What’s a guy like me supposed to do to get some interest? I’ve had NO applications. I like to think I’m pretty good looking. Doesn’t anyone agree?I know that I am super cuddly and a fun guy. I love playing outside. I love doing zoomies in the backyard. So maybe I don’t want to live with other animals or kids under 16. That doesn’t change how fantastic and loyal I am. I promise I will win your heart with my goofy and sweet personality. I’m working hard on my leash work but I do need someone who will continue to work with me and I need a fenced in yard so I can get exercise. But that doesn’t seem like a lot to ask in return for couch snuggles and guaranteed daily smiles. I think I’m a good boy who would bring so much joy to my family. Please help me find them.

BIRDY is available through Just Paws Animal Rescue

When oh when will it be my turn for a forever family? Ladies, I’m BIRDY and I’m definitely the one for you! Who wouldn’t want a snuggly playful girl like me?!?! I’m the perfect size of 20lbs. I’m 5 so I’ve passed all that puppy nonsense of not being housetrained. I won’t mess your house. I love to walk so you will always have an exercise partner. I’m a great snuggler and enjoy an evening of Netflix. So what if I’m a little shy of strangers and prefer women over men? Some people would say that just makes me smart. Just kidding! Actually, I am a very smart girl and once you win me over, I’m extremely devoted. Sound intriguing? Check out my bio for more information and apply for me today!

A dog is a man’s best friend and DENNIS has certainly found that in Don, his foster dad. He loves nothing more than to follow him around to see what he’s doing. He makes a great supervisor!
DENNIS requires a child free home and a fenced in yard where he can roam freely. He enjoys his walks but has issues meeting others while on leash so we do want a family for him that will be patient and help him be the best boy he can be.

UPDATE: COOPER IS SAFE. WE HAVE FOUND A FOSTER HOME FOR HIM. THANK YOU.

COOPER - URGENT! WINDSOR, ON

He is getting returned after almost a year of being in his adopted home. Cooper needs a KID FREE , CAT FREE foster home. He enjoys high energy playing with other dogs ( similar size).
He has food agression issues, resource guarding, and sleep agression issues. Has worked with a trainer to help deal with these problems. In his adopted home he bit a child 2x over food related incidents, which is why he had to be returned. He has been on 10 day quarantine at Windsor HS. They feel he has so much potential, but needs the appropriate home. Solid crate training could help with his current issues ( sleep agression and feeding in the crate) In his past home he was allowed to free feed, and sleep outside of crate.
"He really is an amazing dog with so much potential. I believe he would thrive in a house with no children and an active owner and possibly other dogs. He really is a big goofy dog that loves to play but also has issues when it comes to human food. We have worked with a trainer that also believes he is not aggressive at heart." - past owner

His original foster home cannot take him back as they are fostering for another rescue. If you could help out Cooper, please let us know!

COCO hasn’t had any applications so far 😞 Please share to find this sweet baby his forever home. Available from Just Paws Animal Rescue please apply to www.justpawsanimalrescue.com

Hello hello hello! I'm COCO and I'm just full of beagley puppy sweetness! At just a year old I'm still a puppy and sometimes full of baby sillinesses.

At first I can be a little shy but really I'm just a bundle of love and playfulness. I love all my toys and I want my family to give me a ton of them to play with. I also lllloooooooooovvvveeee going for walks and am an excellent walking buddy....except when I see a bicycle. My foster mom isn't sure what why since I can't tell her, but she thinks something very scary happened too me with a bike and now I'm terrified of them. Aside from that, I'm a very easygoing boy! I also really love going to the dog park to run and play!

I love playing with other dogs and I've been very good with the cat that lives in my foster home. Since I am a beagle, I'll need a house with a fenced in yard to investigate stuff in. I hope that my family won't leave me alone for long periods of time during my puppy phase, or that they'll let me go to doggy daycare. I've been pretty good, but sometimes I might take stuff that doesn't belong to me.

Although I love playing with kids, it's best that there are no younger ones in my home because I'm still teething a bit so I'll sometimes use my mouth too much while I'm playing. I'd love some active older kids who will play with me lots and tire me out! I love sleeping in my humans beds, and if you're going to use a crate, please leave the door open because cages are scary to me!

If you're looking for a good natured, fun and a little clumsy boy, then I'm your dog! Please apply for me now!

Available for adoption through Save Me Rescue

Hey Everyone!

It's me, Blu! You’ve probably heard about me over the years, I’ve been a very important part of Save Me Rescue, basically I’ve run the whole organization. Hundreds of dogs have found their homes in my time here (young dogs, old dogs, sick dogs, all sorts of dogs) and that makes me really proud. It got me thinking though, is there a family out there for me? Sure my front legs are funny and I drool a lot, but I’ve learned that those are things I cannot really change and things that make me uniquely me. I hope there is a family out there that loves big drooly dogs that would be looking for a sweet affectionate companion.

I have been doing a lot of hard work over the last few months to get myself as perfect as I can be for my forever home. Foster mom and I have been working with a trainer and we have learned that I am SUPER SMART! I learned a special trick called “place” that apparently not every dog can learn, everyone is very very proud of me. This week I met with a very talented photographer and got some handsome pictures done.

Now I need your help! If everyone that reads this shares my letter my perfect family might read it. My perfect family would be one with carpeted stairs, as non-carpeted are a bit difficult for me to climb. A fenced in yard would be wonderful. My dream would be to find a home with some dog savvy children who would give me lots of attention, I love kids and have been told I am really good with them. A home without kids would be just fine too though, I’m not picky.

I hope a special family is reading this letter, if there is one thing ive learned over the last few years, it's that there is a special family out there for every dog. I cannot wait to see what special family is waiting for me.

Lots of love,
Blu

RAYNE
Available from Just Paws Animal Rescue
www.justpawsanimalrescue.com

Look at me, Look at me! I am Ravishing Rayne who has super energy and I just love to play. I am 2 years old and 25lbs. No one is quite sure of my doggie breed mix, but does it really matter because look how cute I am (not that I’m bragging).
I am a happy, young dog who starts each day with play on her mind. I can play with other dogs (but they need to be as playful as me and enjoy playtime, too). I need at least one long walk per day and I do OK on the leash but I could be better with training. When not playing with other dogs, I can play on my own and entertain myself with my toys and a bone (plus a KONG with a little peanut butter inside). – I should tell you I LOVE my toys! Apparently, my foster family laughs at me as they watch me chase an ice cube on the floor. I have been told I am very smart and treat oriented so that helps with the training you will need to invest in me – have you ever thought of having a dog who might just love agility training, too?! They say a well exercised and trained dog, is a great dog – I think that will be me!

I am at a foster family who has three dogs and I love to play with them, but sometimes I may be a little too playful so I need to learn to respect their boundaries. Sometimes my foster Mom will let me stay just with her and I can entertain myself without bugging the other dogs. I would do well in a home with another dog but be warned the dog needs to love to play. If there is not a dog in your home, that should OK too – as long as I get exercised and be with people I should be good. My foster family says I am a total cuddle muffin (and so funny) – when not playing, I can chill as well. I love belly rubs and they calm me down after playtime. I am also use to a crate, so when I am so super excited I can go in my crate to calm down (and sometimes I get fed in there – and you know what, sometimes there are hidden treats in my crate that I love to search for). Bonus, I travel very well in the car and love to go on errands with my foster mom – I can even go in stores as I fit easily under her arms.

Some are not sure if I should be in a home with children – maybe older children. I am energetic and get very excited – there have been a few times when some nipping/mouthing has occurred when my foster family has picked me up to stop me from bothering another dog or getting too excitable. Not to worry, I am not being mean at all – I just need to better understand my boundaries. Just so you know, I do shed so those with allergies would not be a good fit for me. I do also need a home with a fenced in yard to run around in.

I hope I sound like the dog you have been waiting for because I am waiting for you to find me! Don’t I sound irresistible – will you make your home my forever home?! Love Rayne.

Please help and save some lives!

We need YOUR help. We are inundated with emails and messages from shelters asking for help. The smaller cute dogs make it out of the shelters as there seems to be a big demand for the smaller dogs. The bigger dogs languish and unfortunately some of them reach their time limit and yes, they are euthanized for space. It is a harsh reality but sadly it’s one we see on a daily basis and it breaks our hearts that we can’t help them. We have quite a few small dog fosters as do other rescues, but, we have ZERO medium to large dog foster homes. We aren’t sure why....😞 Here’s where you come in. Have you ever wanted to help save a life, make a difference? Well you can, and it’s easy! We provide EVERYTHING! You can be a part of our great team, you will have full support, guidance, and best of all, you will be making a difference and saving the life of a healthy, deserving dog. We know there are great adoptive homes out there waiting for a new fur friend, but we can’t help if we don’t have a foster home for these dogs to go to. We aren’t talking giant dogs, we are talking from 30lbs and up. All are fully vetted, healthy, and we get great assessments from our shelter partners. If this is something that you feel you could help with, please contact us and we can guide you through the process. Please email us at [email protected] to make a difference AND save the life of a not-so-small dog. The pictures are of one of a dog we rescued off death row in January 2018, and her now picture. She is in a wonderful home and that is because someone cared enough to foster. Please be that someone...thank you.

Izzy – ADOPTED!

Terrier Mix - Female - 17lbs - 9 years

Location: Guelph, ON

Meet Izzy! A wonderful girl with an adorable tail wiggle and playful personality.

Izzy is estimated to be approximately 9 yrs old, but ... shhh, no one has told Izzy this! She thinks she's much younger and has the energy to prove it. She loves to play ball, and will run around the house or yard in search of it, in hopes that you'll throw it again.

This happy go lucky girl is house trained and crate trained, though she is left loose during the work day and does just fine. She loves to run in the yard, but once inside the house, she settles quickly and is the best TV binge watching partner you will find.

Izzy would prefer to not share her living space with other dogs or cats. She truly prefers to have only human companionship. On walks she does need to be redirected once she spots a squirrel. Izzy loves to chase squirrels! This is something her future family would need to work on with her.

Izzy's ideal home would be with an active person/couple who will enjoy exercising her in a fenced yard and walking her. Her perfect home will have no other pets or small kids. (Izzy is ok with visiting children, however she likes her down time to be calm and quiet.) Her perfect adopter will be someone active, who will enjoy a companion dog that wants to follow them around and be involved in whatever they're doing.

Izzy is a super sweet girl who simply needs someone who will exercise her, work on her focus while walking, throw her ball for her and then share the sofa with her at the end of the day. She truly doesn't ask for much more than that.

For more information on Izzy, please contact Colleen at [email protected]

Seniors do NOT deserve to be dumped in a gassing kill shelter in Quebec, when they’ve given you 12 years of unconditional love! WHIPPET was dumped! Whether it’s because he’s old, or the family living arrangements have changed, or the result of a breakup, he does not deserve to die a terrible death, all alone and confused in a strange place. We put out a plea to our foster homes and one of our amazing families stepped up immediately, thank you Marilynne for not hesitating to welcome WHIPPET into your home. We are told that he is simply a loving, friendly guy, a little overweight but once he gets a few pounds off, he’s going to be even more handsome. Please welcome WHIPPET to the Just Paws family. Once he has settled in we will update his bio on our website.

COOTER is wondering why he hasn’t been scooped up yet?
Howdy, I’m COOTER the senior Pug mix. I’m about 9 years and weigh 21lbs. I was owner surrendered to the shelter when my family could no longer take care of me. Let me tell you what a great fellow I am. I'm a happy go lucky feller who loves playing with my toys. I enjoy the company of other dogs and I'm not a big barker so I'd be ok in a condo or a house. I have a great smile and I can smize with the best of them. I'm a fashionable dude who sports only the coolest clothes. I'm not a fan of being crated (I hate it), but I love to snuggle and cuddle with you anytime, anywhere. I'm obedient tho and I can take no for an answer. I’m also p*e pad and house trained. Just Paws has taken care of my vetting and even had my teeth a good dental cleaning so I'm all ready for my new home with a fresh smile and go go spirit! I may be a senior boy but you'd never know it, as I love running and playing. Most of all though, I love snuggling on your shoulder and making sure I'm touching you as much as possible.

She is sweet but shy. SADIE came from a home where the parents allowed the children to abuse her. They would chase her and hit her with toy swords, they would toss her around like a stuffy. (Maybe they should stick to stuffys 🤦‍♀️)They allowed this terrible treatment to happen and now SADIE lost her confidence. Well don’t worry sweet girl, we have the perfect foster home just waiting to help you overcome those fears of being hurt again
This is the message we received from our shelter partners who advocate for these dogs...How could we say no?
“I don’t know if you would be able to help with Sadie. I absolutely love her but she was abused by the children in her previous home. Neighbors witnessed it and all. She’s 23 pounds. About a year old. She’s as sweet as can be. She’s scared to be picked up when she first meets you and will very gently nip at your hand but after thirty minutes she gets over it. She crawled right up in my lap and we haven’t had any issues yet. She will lean on you for comfort.
She seriously just needs a very short time to be familiar with you and then she’s fine. Fine with other dogs as well. We’ve had to mix her in with several different ones of all sizes when we were low on space. I really don’t think you would have an issue with her if you have someone willing to be patient when they first bring her home. She’s actually a very affectionate dog.”
Please welcome SADIE 💜
She will arrive to us on the 16th March and we will learn more about her from her foster home.

Hi everyone, my name is RIM. I’m a 2 year old, 45lb Lab mix. I’m so excited! I’ve been told that the good people at Just Paws Animal Rescue love me and want to help me find a forever home. I haven’t had the best life so far, but I know that is all going to change very soon. You see I lived outside with 7 other dogs and I kinda got picked on. I do have some battle wounds and old scars, but they are all on the outside, on the inside I’m a sweet loving boy with loads of love to give. Me and all my siblings used to just run free and played dodge the cars, I was smart and lucky and was good at that game. Even though I was bullied by the other dogs, I still liked them and all other dogs too, I’m a lover not a fighter! I even like cats and adore kids. If you think you can look past my war wounds (I’m healing up quickly) and you want a devoted loving friend, please send in your applications at www.justpawsanimalrescue.com I’ll be watching for your app and I can’t wait to join your family. See you soon.
Love RIM 🐾💜

Couldn’t stay up to see the end of the ? Well, then you probably missed that the award for best supporting foster dog in the role of a Husky cross went to our own Miss Mary. Known for her loyal, loving and intelligent performances, it is no surprise that Mary secured the golden statue. But despite her successful win and command of amazing doggie skills, poor Mary cannot understand why no one wants to take her home at the end of the evening. This is a playful beautiful girl, who Is just looking for a little bit of love and understanding from her co-stars. Despite her gorgeous appearance which makes her the envy of most Vogue cover girls, Mary is modest and shy. Mary knows that her shyness can sometimes prevent her from landing her dream roles, but she really hopes that some loving family out there will see her for the star that she really is and make her their own. Mary’s ideal role would be with a no-kid family who likes to play outside and cuddle on the couch. Don’t miss out on this beauty – apply for her today!

To the tune of Proud Mary by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Left in a shelter in the city
Hopin' for a new family ev'ry night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleepin'
Worryin' 'bout the way things might have been

New things I keep on learnin'
Sweet Mary keep on yearnin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' for a tummy rub

At first I may be a bit of a shy girl
But when I get to know you, you have my heart
It’s cuz I never saw the good side of people
'Til Just Paws gave me a brand new start

Dog parks are my favourite to play
I do my business outside the house every day
Rollin', rollin', rollin' for a tummy rub

If you come down to meet me
I may be shy but you will see
You don't have to worry 'cause if you’re patient
Lots of love from me there will always be

New things I keep on learnin'
Sweet Mary keep on yearnin'

Hey ladies, are you looking for a man in your life? One that is loyal, wants to share his life with you, loves to be outdoors, go for walks and snuggle on the couch? Look no further, you have found your man! It’s me Milo!

Hi, my name is Milo and at one point in my life everything was good; then my person became ill and had to go into a nursing home. When I arrived in my foster home, I was unsure of a lot of things but that it is understandable after all the changes I have had to go through. I quite enjoy my foster home as it is quiet, my meals are great, I have a few cozy dog beds to choose from and I have a person’s lap (which belongs to my foster mom) that invites me up for snuggles and belly rubs.
I have learned that playing with my foster mom is a lot of fun and we have been working on some basic obedience training and I seem to have mastered quite a few things. Of course, a nice treat always helps and I am told that I take them from my person very gently. Currently, we are working on my leash manners as I pull on my leash at times.

I enjoy the outdoors and I would LOVE my own backyard if I lived in the city or a nice long lead to walk on if I lived in the country. My foster mom says that my nose is always to the ground on our walks and I have more energy when I am outside. When I am inside, I am a lazy guy who is happy to sleep away in my dog bed or snuggle with you.

I am independent and not crated during the day when my foster mom is out of the home. I am always patient but excited to see the little kong that is filled with peanut butter that is left for me when she is out. I am quiet, fully house trained and not destructive and I spend the day snoozing on my dog bed when my foster mom is out.

My foster mom says that I would do best in a home with no other animals. I agree with this as I sure love the fact that I don’t have to share my person’s lap with anyone else.

I bond quickly to one person and I am looking for an adult only home. I think I have already mentioned this but I also really want my own fenced in backyard, or if I was to live in the country, I would need a long leash that would allow me to run/play and be free. I am looking for a forever home that will welcome me on their lap, snuggle with me, and allow me to be the apple of your eye for the rest of my life.

A note from Milo’s foster mom – Typical for the chi breed, Milo tends to bond with one person and his bond with that one person is incredibly strong. He prefers women over men; however has come to trust his foster dad in his foster home. Being Milo’s “person” is a special privilege, and with only his person is he able to let his guard down to show you his hilarious personality.

With his person he is cuddly, goofy, affectionate and loyal but he will need a home who understands he still has some mistrust of people. He is not confrontational with anyone that he meets; in fact, he is happy to meet everyone at the door with happiness and tail wags.

If your interested in more details about me MILO, please contact my foster mom Robin at [email protected]

Chief is a little cutie, his tail is always wagging ! He is a 10 lb, 10 yr old male, beagle/chihuahua cross. He is neutered and his shots are up to date. Chief just arrived at his foster home a few days ago and is having to learn the new bathroom rules, so his house training is on going. He loves to be near his people and sleeps at the foot of the bed. He lives with other dogs his own size and does very well. He greets every human and dog he meets with a wag and with happy energy !

He does well on a leash, and loves to be outside in the fenced in backyard. As more time goes on, new updates will be added to Chief’s bio, as his foster parents get to learn a little more about him, and give him time for his personality to shine thru !

For more information on Chief, please contact his foster mom Carey at [email protected]

SweetPea is the perfect name for this happy girl. Her tail is always wagging, bum wiggling and you can almost see a smile on her sweet face.

She is house trained, crate trained and also knows some of the basic commands (sit, stay, paw, etc). She is relatively quiet, and only really barks when her foster siblings are being silly or when she can see someone passing by the windows. She has a deep bark that doesn’t match her body, much to her foster mom’s surprise!

SweetPea is currently on a weight-loss program and could benefit having someone to share that journey with. She would love to be a walking partner and stroll the neighbourhood a few times a day. She does pull, it’s very likely she was not walked much in her previously life, so a harness is used to help her out.
SweetPea would be best suited in a home with no other dogs, she prefers some calmness and order in her life and doesn’t appreciate the antics of other fur friends. She would love to be with an active person(s) who will not mind several walks a day.

For more information about SweetPea, please email her foster mom Dione at [email protected]
