This handsome kitty named Trout found his forever home. Trout is FIV positive. He has been with us for about 80days. When considering adopting a kitty please consider the ones that are FIV or FELV positive.

We still have Trouts brother Lays (the red tabby in the photos) who is also FIV positive available for adoption. He is already neutered and ready for his forever home. Lays is scared of dogs but could definitely live with them as long as the dog didn’t chase or over whelm him. He has lived with other cats.
There is also Shark (brown tabby with white) who is FELV positive. He is already neutered and ready to find his forever home. Shark is good with other cats, kids and dogs.

UPDATE

Thank you to all who have assisted us with this dog for the past week and half. Our staff has been trying to trap him for a week and tried gaining his trust.

The veterinarian made a diagnosis that he had a broken femur, neurological spine damage and an illness on top of that. The Veterinarian and us discussed the best out come for his quality of life was humane euthanasia. This was a hard choice and sad situation.

Some of the public, county employees and ACAC officers worked hard trying to save him. I thank each and everyone that has assisted with this dog.

We want to urge people to stop abandoning. When you leave an animal behind and in a place they are not familiar to, they are not just going to trust strangers. they are not going to let someone save them. They can and will get sick, starve, get hit and shot at. Please think about your responsibility to that animal. We have resources and people eager to help. You just have to utilize them.

****UPDATE****

We would like to clear the air for a post that is circulating. We have posted numerous times that dogs can’t be held longer than 6months (180 days). This isn’t a new rule. Unfortunately we can’t hold dogs for a long period of time due to animals mentally deteriorating in the shelter. We also have to take in account public safety.

Our shelter has two jobs. Protecting the stray, unwanted, cruelly treated, sick animals and the general public. We also have to take care of the animals physical and mental wellbeing at the shelter. Again we don’t take that lightly and it is not an easy decision. It is a job that takes a lot of training, care, compassion, sacrifice and strength.

If there is ever a question of how things work with policy and procedures. You can always call and ask. If you do not want to take our word for it. Proper documentation is always taken and saved. You can acquire it by open records request.

We still greatly appreciate our partnership with Another Chance RFT. The hardwork they have put in. The time and care they show everyday for all the animals is admirable. Together this year we have saved many animals from having to reach those dates. We are hopeful and confident that together as a community and our partnership with Another Chance RFT no animal will reach that date. It takes work and dedication.

Hostility and chastising is very counterproductive. Sharing post of these animals, spending time with these animals, telling everyone you can think of and other rescues about these animals. Those things are productive. That is saving lives. That is how you make a change.
