Join the Breaking Barriers program and make a difference in a dog's life! We're looking for passionate volunteers to help build fences and provide safe spaces for dogs.

🐾 Another Sunday, another fence for some happy pups! 🐾

Yesterday, we built a new fence for our beloved furry friends Buster, Cujo, and Niko! 🐶🐶🐶 They now have a safe and fun space to play and enjoy their days.

Happy Monday, Everyone!

London got her fence yesterday and she sure was happy about it! This girl can now enjoy playing in her yard safely and without the restriction of a tether!

We're building more than fences through Breaking Barriers-we're building happy pups too!

Please help us continue to do this for other dogs by making a donation to the program; the funds we raised earlier in the year have just about run out and will only guarantee us one more full fence build.

HELP NEEDED!

LOCATION: BURLINGTON CITY LIMITS

Any BB supporters with a tow truck that may be willing to donate their time and equipment to help us move a vehicle 20 feet out of the way of a prime fence location?

We're trying to help a sweet senior citizen and her pup, London, by building them an enclosure, but an inoperable vehicle stands in the way of our efforts.

Meet Milo!

This handsome boy was adopted from Burlington Animal Services several months ago, but he had a habit of getting out of his yard, going on an adventure by himself, and then coming back.

This dangerous habit he had was risky for him but also costly for his owners. It was obvious how much he loved his family, and no one wanted to have to have him go back to the shelter.

That’s where Breaking Barriers stepped in. Knowing his background, our volunteers built him a fence yesterday to help keep him in place with his family.

Just look at his handsome face! This happy boy was so happy to be in his new yard. Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to keep him out of the already crowded shelter.

Another weekend, another set of happy pups! Zeus (pouty faced boy), Kiwi (vocal husky girl), and Ghost were all the happy recipients of last weekend’s fence build. Today, 3 of our volunteers went back out to deliver some dog houses and Kiwi excitedly told us about her time in her new play area. Happy Tails, Zeus, Kiwi and Ghost!

Though our build crew was tiny but mighty in numbers during our build yesterday, we were still able to knock out a brand new fence for 3 lucky pups: Puppy, Thena, and Lucky. These three gorgeous pups now have a great place to run around in and play with each other.

FENCE CANDIDATES: BOOJIE & MAMA

Boojie (a sweet 6-month-old pup) and Mama are two adorable and incredibly sweet babies who are next on our list to help. Their owners have provided these two what they can, but the pups deserve a larger space to run around in, and that's something we can help with.

However, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We'd like to build these sweet babies a nice, secure lot to be able to run and play together in but, the truth is, Breaking Barriers hasn't received very many donations since we built the fence for Bruce.

Each fence costs us roughly $600 to build.

We had a feline supervisor during yesterday’s Breaking Barriers build! This furry friend oversaw all of the measuring and cutting of the fencing.

Thanks to his help, our new Shepherd friend has a nice new yard to run around in!

These dogs felt ✨Lucky✨ to get their new fence today!

Lucky, Baby Girl (both are pictured) and Storm all were the happy recipients of a new fence and dog houses! It might have been a muddy day when the fence was built, but these pups were very excited to be able to run around in their new yard!

If you could have seen the smiles on both of these pups’ faces, your heart might have exploded from adorableness. The owner was so appreciative as we were able to get these pups a new yard, new dog house, straw to put in around the dog houses, food and spay and neuter.

Every build has been special, but today was a great extra reminder of why we do what we do. ❤️

TONIGHT!

Nina, Cujo & Symbo all showed their excitement for their new fence when our volunteers stopped by their place earlier today! We love seeing the happy expressions on faces of the pups helped through this program.

Yesterday might have been a miserably dreary day weather-wise, but 7 of our volunteers still went out and got a fence built for 3 deserving pups! While building, these little flowers were discovered growing out of one of the posts.

FENCE CANDIDATES- NINA, CUJO & SYMBO!

Nina (the little brown girl) and her two pups are our newest candidates in need of a fence. These three sweethearts are living in a small enclosure outside (pictured here). They were previously residing on their family's back porch, but these goofy pups kept escaping and going for outings in the neighborhood (which was a lot of fun, but not so safe, for these babies). They were then moved to their current enclosure, which keeps them safe, but it is much too small to be sustainable.

Nina's human family members have been doing their best to care for Nina and her sweet pups, but they need our help. These three loving pups really need a fence to be able to spread out, have room to run and play, and be able to stay together with one another and with their family.

Breaking Barriers has the volunteers and willpower to make this fence happen, but we need funding support for the fence itself. Each fence costs us roughly $600 to build, and we will keep building and helping dogs as long as we have the funding to proceed.

FENCE CANDIDATE: BRUCE

This is Bruce.

Bruce's dad suffered a stroke a few months back and, while in the hospital receiving care, he and Bruce lost their home. His dad was able to find alternative housing but, sadly, he couldn't take Bruce with him. A family member agreed to keep Bruce on their property, however, he is not allowed in the house. He originally was kept in a makeshift lot built out of wire crate panels but those failed to keep him secured and, as a result, Bruce roamed out of the yard and got in trouble with Animal Control.

Since then, Bruce has been kept inside an abandoned truck on the property. He spends countless hours alone every day in that vehicle and only leaves the truck when his dad comes by to walk and feed him. While visiting him to assess his need for an enclosure, we noticed Bruce perked up significantly when his dad arrived to let him out and, as you can imagine, he didn't particularly like having to go back into confinement.

WE NEED YOUR HELP.

We'd like to build this boy a nice, secure lot to be able to run and play in but, the truth is, Breaking Barriers hasn't received a single donation to put towards any of our fence build candidates in well over two months.

Bruce really, really, REALLY NEEDS A FENCE to allow him to be a dog and improve his quality of life. And we really, really, REALLY NEED YOUR HELP to make that happen for him. He cannot continue to live and do everything (and we mean EVERYTHING) in that truck.

He just can't.

Each fence costs us roughly $600 to build.

This past weekend, we built a fence for Nala, Ash, Noah, and Leo!

Did you know that we do more for the families that Breaking Barriers helps than just build them fences? We also help by providing resources and ensuring that the dogs have dog houses.

Most dogs (such as these 4 from this past weekend), already have dog houses to protect the pups from the elements, but for those who don't, we help to provide that as well.

Today is Giving Tuesday, and we hope that you will consider donating to help free dogs from living life on restrictive tethers and will give them a safe space to run, play and further bond with their families. Breaking Barriers has been able to help 2 families a month since August, and it would not be possible without the donations from the community.

We are always blown away by the generosity, and we hope you will remember us again today. Fences cost around $700, but the joy it brings to the dogs and families is priceless. No donation is too small.

Arlo's Fence Build

The fence builds have officially started! Our first fence recipient was Arlo, a sweet, wiggly little guy who was previously tethered in his backyard. Breaking Barriers volunteers got to know not only Arlo but also his amazing family as we built our first fence! Now this goofy pup has a safe space to run around and enjoy more quality time with his family. We are thankful we had the opportunity to help here and hope that we can do the same for many more families!
