Directions: The Doris Day Horse Rescue is located in Murchison, Texas, approximately 95 miles east of Dallas and 25 miles west of Tyler. The physical address is: 12250 CR 3806Murchison, TX 75778 Key: FM: Farm to Market CR: County Road From Dallas (first route): • Take Texas Highway 175 (SE) to Athens. Turn left on the Loop 7 (Highway 317). • Go approximately 4 miles on the Loop and then take the exit for Highway 31 and turn left on onto Highway 31 going east toward Tyler. • Proceed on Highway 31 for approximately 7.9 miles, passing through the town of Murchison until you reach FM 1803 North. • Turn left onto 1803 North. Make sure not to take the FM 1803 South exit, which you will pass prior to exiting onto the FM 1803 North. • Go north on FM 1803 for approximately 3.5 miles until you reach CR 3806, identified by a small green and white street sign, a white metal b***o cutout attached to the fence, and a sign for "Barton’s Chapel." • Turn left on CR 3806. Go approximately 1.8 miles, and the entrance to the Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center will be on the left. (Approximately 0.6 miles from the entrance to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. If you reach CR 3805, you’ve gone too far.) From Dallas (second route): • Go east on Interstate 20. • Take exit 523 or Highway 64 and proceed through the city of Canton, Texas. • Continue on Highway 64 for approximately 16 miles. • Turn right on FM 279. Continue on FM 279 for approximately 1.4 miles through Ben Wheeler. • Turn right on FM 773 South. Pay close attention because this is a sharp right and very easy to pass. Go 1.1 miles and turn left on FM 773 South towards Murchison. • From here, go 6.6 miles to FM 1803. Turn left on FM 1803 South. • Go 0.8 miles until you reach CR 3806, identified by a small green and white street sign, a white metal b***o cutout attached to the fence, and a sign for "Barton’s Chapel." • Turn right on CR 3806. Go approximately 1.8 miles, and the entrance to the Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center will be on the left. (Approximately 0.6 miles from the entrance to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. If you reach CR 3805, you’ve gone too far.) From Tyler: • Take State Highway 31 west through Chandler and Brownsboro. • Look for the Staway Ranch RV Park on the right. • Pass the RV park and look for a sign for FM 1803 north. • Continue on 1803 for approximately 3.5 miles until you reach CR 3806 identified by a small green and white street sign, a white metal cutout of a b***o attached to the fence, and a sign for "Barton’s Chapel." • Turn left on CR 3806. Go approximately 1.8 miles, and the entrance to the Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center will be on the left. (Approximately 0.6 miles from the entrance to the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. If you reach CR 3805, you’ve gone too far.) From Houston: • Take Interstate 45 to Corsicana. • Exit on Highway 31 going east toward Athens, Texas. • Prior to entering the town of Athens, turn left onto the Loop 7 (Highway 317) going north. • Go approximately 6.7 miles on the Loop and then take the exit for Highway 31 and then turn left onto Highway 31 going east toward Tyler. • Proceed on Highway 31 for approximately 7.9 miles passing through the town of Murchison until you reach FM 1803 North. • Make sure not to take the FM 1803 South exit, which you will pass prior to exiting onto FM 1803 North. • Turn left onto FM 1803 North. Go north on FM 1803 for approximately 3.5 miles until you reach CR 3806, identified by a small green and white street sign, a white metal cutout of a b***o attached to the fence, and a sign for "Barton’s Chapel." • Turn left on CR 3806.
