In 2020 we lost our beloved mare Hopscotch 8 hours after giving birth to our filly Spoons. We also are lucky enough to still have Scrabble, Hopscotch's sister. After Hopscotch died part of me died with her and we gave up most of our horses we had at the time and our dreams of breeding. We are a very small farm now with 4 horses we have always had and will always have, we are beyond blessed to have

It was so hot yesterday I had to hose the horses down twice.

The second time around became more playtime than cool down time.

Meghan and a friend came over to meet the horses today. The horses really loved the cookie part of the visit.

Sequence was ponied out on trails for the first time with a ba****ck pad on. I'm getting her used to something on her back and the girth, she didn't blink an eye at it.

I'll start her this January when she turns 3. Like all of mine, they will start out slow with short walking rides. She will be very easy to train for riding since Meghan and I have already sat on her with zero issues.

Sequence doesn't need to lose weight, but she needs to learn a good work ethic. On a normal day Sequence puts the Z in lazy. But when you tell her to move and she does want to...she has all sorts of energy.

Wild week for the horses, the storm, and then chainsaws going day and night around us.

And after a crazy ride with a tree snapping while we were out there, I thought a nice relaxing time by the pond was due.

Then we hear this helicopter flying right over our barn, crop dusting. This pilot had to have been in the Airforce. Amazing. It's much closer than it looks here.

Since I stopped trimming my horses feet I've tried 5 different Farriers. I'm so happy that I finally found one I really like.

When I asked him to round the edges so they don't chip, he said, you're paying me, so whatever you want. Wow... that was a first for me.

He did an excellent job and the horses seem to like him. Happy hoof dance!

Yesterday was a heck of an evening for storms here. 85mph wind shears and flooding.

We were so worried about the horses but you can see they went into the barn and stayed there until we came down and the storm ended.

There is a lot to clean up but everyone is safe here and our house and barn were untouched.

There has been a lot happening here, and all at once. I was considering adding 2 foals...one of which needs hernia surg...

There has been a lot happening here, and all at once. I was considering adding 2 foals...one of which needs hernia surgery. I was then unexpectedly offered my First Right of Refusal on one of my foals back, and then offering Spoons to a new home thinking she could do so much more with someone else than just be the trail horse she is here.

My head and my heart were exploding with all of this at once.

Last night after a lot of discussions with my friends and hubby I realized, all I want to do is keep Spoons. I have a perfect horse in Spoons. She doesn't need to be anything more than a trail horse.

Thank you for all of your support during this mind spinning time for me. Spoons an her brother Chance....I could not break this up.

With all of this rain and heat Chance and Spoons are getting chubby on the rich grass. So I had to get them both the Flexible Filly grazing muzzle. They are not happy. My heart breaks seeing them confused and anxious, but it would break more if anything happened to them from getting too much grass.

Stay cool

Content eating breakfast. We got more rain so of course Chance is filthy. Chance is also packing some weight on with limited pasture, so I'm going to have to work him more so he doesn't get abscesses.

It's raining again. So umbrella play time.

Chance...because you can't live on just grass alone.
