Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Topaz!

Topaz is a Standard Poodle puppy! She is looking for a family with another active dog to socialize with. In her foster home, she has been great with other dogs. For puppies like Topaz, we look for adopters who spend most of the day at home to help their new family member get into a good schedule and have proper training and socialization. You should also have dog experience and a record of excellent veterinary care for your current and previous pups. Topaz is the most gentle and shy of her litter. She likes to snuggle and receive tummy rubs. Mostly, Topaz is a blank slate who needs someone to train her in everything.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Mickey!

Mickey is a 1 year old Chihuahua / Dachshund mix! This young, active guy can’t wait to find his forever home to learn and grow in. He loves spending time with other dogs, but he would be happy as your only pup if you give him plenty of chances to play and socialize with other dogs. Right now, Mickey doesn’t have much training, but he is eager to learn through positive reinforcement. If you’re looking for a dog that could thrive in an apartment, Mickey might be a good option. He doesn’t want to be left alone all day, but a small space doesn’t bother him. This mellow fellow can be shy at first. He loves to watch the world go by and figure things out. Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Tibbs!

Tibbs is a Bichon Frise / Chinese Crested-Powder Puff mix puppy! This young guy wants an experienced owner who can raise and socialize him. A home with people who are home most of the day and can spend plenty of time with him to build a consistent routine would be ideal. He needs another young and active dog at home to play with. Due to his tiny size, large dogs would not be a good match. Tibbs is a happy young guy who deserves to grow up in a house with the time and experience to raise him well. Meet Adoptable Tina!
Tina is a senior female Toy Poodle. She came to CPR in mid-May 2023 when she was found as a stray.

Come meet Tina, a bundle of lovable energy wrapped in a sassy, 13-year-old package! Because Tina is so enamored with people, she will need her adopter to be home more than they are away. This little girl will blend seamlessly into your life whether you are single, a couple, or a family. She would be the perfect companion for a retiree seeking a lively friend. Tina will do well in either an apartment or house. You can teach an old dog new tricks and Tina will need to be taught basic commands like come, down, sit, and stay as well as how to walk on a leash. While she doesn’t require another dog, she wouldn't mind an older canine buddy. A fenced in yard isn't necessary, but since Tina loves to explore, she'll need supervision outdoors.

Found as a stray, Tina arrived in rescue a hot mess. If you're wondering why such a cute, wonderful girl has been in rescue for a year without a forever home, it's because she's been getting medically ready. First up was heartworm treatment. That was a success. Then there were severe allergies. We have those under control as described in her special needs section on the website. Now, it's time for a forever home.

Tina is good with other dogs, and you can sometimes catch her sparking up play with them. She will be good with your cat if your cat it good with her in your home. She's a great travel companion too, enjoying car rides and accompanying you on errands. Tina doesn't need a ton of exercise, a casual walk or two or time in the backyard will do. She's a good eater and takes treats gently. Tiny Tina is quite the character with a huge personality. 💙🩵World, meet PERCY 🩵💙

Percy was surrendered to us in 2017 because his owners could no longer care for him due to his temperament. He is originally from Texas and he definitely brought some south of the border🌶 with him and never lost it 🤣

Even though Percy has trust issues and a spicy temperament his caregiving team adores him. Why??

✅He is very energetic and loves to play with balls and chew toys
✅He LOVES belly rubs and to give lots of kisses whether you want them or not
✅He loves to sunbathe when the weather is pretty with his toy right beside him at all times

Is he spoiled? Unapologetically! Would we have it any other way? Absolutely not!

Meet Adoptable Billy!
Billy is a young, male Moyen Poodle weighing in at 30 pounds. He came to CPR in mid-July 2024 when he was lovingly surrendered by his owners.

Billy is a young, active dog looking for a home that can offer him the physical and mental stimulation that he needs daily. He will be happy as your only dog or could live with another dog. He has never been exposed to cats. Billy has grown up in a social environment and loves meeting new faces. He is good with children over 5. He could live in an apartment or single-family home, as long as you have good plans for lots of daily exercise. Billy has always had someone at home with him; we're looking for a home where someone is home during the day (work from home, early retiree, etc.). We will not place Billy into a senior living environment. He's lived this for his first year and we know that while there was lots of love, he needs more physical and mental stimulation daily,

Handsome Billy was surrendered to rescue by a mom that loved him very much and knew he needed more than she could give him, Purchased as a puppy, Billy spent his first year living with his mom in a senior community. He was surrounded by people and had lots of opportunity for socialization. However, his energy level and needs were simply more than his community could give him, so they reached out for help.

Billy is a very happy boy. He's been raised with lots of people and loves meeting new faces. He is good with dogs of all sizes and with children. He's never been exposed to cats. Billy walks well on a leash. He hasn't had many opportunities for off-leash running and playing, but we know he will love them. He is impeccably mannered and was house trained in his previous home. He is accustomed to sleeping in a crate, though we're sure he could be convinced that beds are okay too! Billy has a gentle and loving demeanor.

🌈💙💔 IN LOVING MEMORY OF LOUIE 🌈💙💔

Louie. The always grumpy, in your face telling you what to do, marching to the beat of his own drum man joined our sanctuary in September of 2023.

Louie lived the first 11 years of his life as the beloved companion to a single woman. Sadly, her health began failing and, when she could no longer care for herself and had no family to help, reached out to rescue. At 11 years young, we figured Louie had a lot of life still to live and would be happy to fill another heart.

But Louie had other plans. You see, he gave his heart away to his mom, and he never got over the loss. He was content in his foster home, and his foster mom loved him completely as he was. But "as he was" meant a grumpy frequent menace who simply missed his mom.

Yesterday, Louie met his mom at the Rainbow Bridge. We like to imagine tail wags, a happy smile, and all the kisses he has been storing up for the last almost year.

For those who are new to us, this is what our SOS program is all about. Loving dogs as they are and where they are. Giving them our very best, with recognition that "best" looks different for every dog.

🥰🐩💕Minette Update! 💕🐩🥰

Our beautiful warrior is up and moving!!! Friends, Minette is home from the hospital and on the move (carefully). For one week out from surgery, she is doing beautifully.

As you can see, Minette is up and walking slowly on ALL 4 LEGS 💪 The healing journey is slow, and we’re all working to keep her as quiet as possible (no small task for a young standard poodle). Minette still has a long way to go, but we hope this video encourages and uplifts you as much as it does us!

Meet Adoptable Gus!
Gus is an adult male Shih Tsu. He came to CPR in mid-March 2024 when he was surrendered to a shelter and CPR pulled him from there. Gus is currently in a foster home in Rocky Mount, NC.

Gus is a gentle, easy-going boy. He has all the best shih tzu attributes - loving, kind and loyal. Gus is great with dogs of all sizes. He's been around kids 10 and older and thought they were just fine. He's never lived with cats, but with his laid-back demeanor we cannot imagine cats being an issue for Gus.

Gus was surrendered by his owners to a North Carolina shelter in early 2024. No reason was given - simply that they didn't want him anymore. Their loss has certainly been our gain. A gentler and more loving boy you will not meet!

Gus is a mellow, chill sort of boy. On any given day you will find him lounging on a bed by day, taking strolls in the fenced back yard with his foster siblings, and snuggled up in foster mom's bedroom at night. Gus is a bit of an old soul. It's a Netflix and chill sort of world for him!

Meet Adoptable Trixie!
Trixie is an adult female Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. She came to CPR in late June 2024 when her owners surrendered her to a shelter and CPR pulled from there.

Trixie is young, active and ready to learn and grow. She's never known life without the companionship of other dogs but would be okay as your best and only buddy if you have a solid plan for play and socialization. Trixie knows very little about basic training but is eager to learn. We're looking for a home that will be committed to positive reinforcement training with this sweet princess. Trixie will be happy in an apartment or single-family home, just don't leave her home alone all day with no company. She really wants to be where you are.

Trixie, her siblings, and her dad were surrendered by their owners to a NC animal shelter. No reason was given. Maybe they were puppies that didn't sell. There was no mama dog with the family. Regardless, we are thankful they are with us.

Trixie's smile says it all - she is a happy girl! The shy, trembling pup that we met in the shelter has been replaced with a happy, active girl now that she knows she is safe in rescue. Trixie loves the company of other dogs. She loves playing in fenced yards with her friends, singing songs to her caregivers, and snuggling with her caregivers. Once Trixie gives you her heart, she holds on tight and clings to you. She can't wait to be someone's everyday companion!

Breeder surrenders. AKA dogs that don't sell or can't make babies anymore. Typically so sweet and gentle, with no idea what it means to be a pet. The alternative to being surrendered to rescue is one we won't want to think about. So we are happy to be here to support as we can, when we are needed.

Monday's intake madness is focused on Chinese Crested. 2 females and 1 male. 3 beautiful "hairless" beauties. One a toothless wonder that we cannot get enough of 😀 To know this breed is to love this breed. They, and we, need YOU 🙏

Meet Adoptable Conan!
Conan is an adult male Standard Poodle. He came to CPR in late April 2024 as one of 11 dogs from a large hoarding case.

Conan is looking for a home in suburbia, he is laid back and chill. He will enjoy walks through the neighborhood and then settling down for a movie on the couch with his humans. Conan would be happiest with a couple looking to spoil a standard rotten - he wants to be the apple of your eye. If you are a retired couple with an empty house, Conan would like that! Conan needs to be the only dog in the house. He can go on walks with other dogs and visit with dogs of calm energy but after several years of being surrounded by other dogs, he is ready to be the only one. No dog parks for this boy - it's simply too much energy. Conan has met cats and is non-reactive to them, he could live with a laid-back cat that just exists in the home. Conan would prefer children to not be frequent visitors, he is very social with humans but looking for a laid-back environment. Conan is sociable enough that we can see him attending social events like patio dinners, breweries, and downtown walks.

Conan is a people dog; he loves his humans immensely. Conan is very affectionate with his humans. He loves to be by his human as much as possible. He is versatile in many situations and adapts to new routines pretty fast. Conan is a happy dog all around, he has more confidence than you would expect from a dog coming out of a neglect case. Conan would benefit from training classes; he is very food-motivated and intelligent. He would excel at basic obedience and would love to go onto advanced classes later on. Conan walks nicely on a leash. He is crate-trained and keeps his space clean. Conan is a dog who can walk into your home and easily transition into the life of a companion.

Meet Carolina Poodle Rescue’s adoptable Zack!

Zack is a 5 year old Standard Poodle! This active guy is looking for a family as on-the-go as he is. Zack would love to play in a fenced yard with older kids who can throw the ball around and tire each other out. With so much energy, he might be a great biking companion or you could head to the dog park together. After playtime, Zack say’s it’s time to snuggle. He is very loving and is looking for an experienced owner to meet his needs. Zack would prefer to be an only dog, but might be good with a mellow canine companion. Cats would not be a good match. This hyper guy really needs people with plenty of time to play in addition to teaching him basic commands and how to walk on a leash.
