17.5" Alydar jumping saddle, in rich warm brown and mahogany. Short billets, and knee and calf blocks with all the adjustability you can ever want to match your leg-position and jumping style. $1999

18" Tudor on the flexible tree, which allows a deeper seat and more open chamber than the soft-tree models. $2899. This model is ideal for horses with a thick, broad wither and trapezius, requiring plenty of room in the chamber to sit correctly at the sides of the wither without pinching, while the open gullet plates provide this open chamber even for the steeper scapula angles. Just what your Warmblood ordered.

I also have an 18" Yasir ($2199) for those who prefer the support of a thigh block, and a 17.5" Emir, with custom deeper panels and adjustable stirrup bar. It is out on an extended demo, and will be available in about 6 weeks.

I have moved 140 miles North, and am now located in Hoodsport, WA.

This gives me easy access to Mason, Jefferson, Kitsap, Thurston, and Pierce counties.for those of you in my previous area in SW WA and into northern OR:
I plan to head that way about 6-8 times a year. If you need saddle-fitting and it's not a rush, I will put you on my list of people to stop in with next time I head down that way. The more people on my route, the more ways the mileage charge gets split. Ghost and EDIX saddles I can fit remotely if you are willing to be my eyes and hands, but treed evaluations and tracings can only be done in person.

When I fit English and endurance saddles, I typically have a wide range of interesting options for girths in every price to suit a horse's conformation and to help stabilize the saddle.

Sadly, with Western saddles, the choices are far more limited.

I am happy to stock the EDIX Western anatomical cinches. These are made from soft, supple, padded calfskin, in brown or black. The 3-part construction, along with the tapered shape and the elastic inserts between sternum-plate and buckle-plates, equalizes the forced between front and rear edges while freeing up the elbow to prevent chafing. Roller-buckle on the latigo-side. Merino fur covers are also available.

My poor USPS mail carrier!!! She drives a tiny little van over miles on end out in rural Clark County, and when I have a saddle on board, her van is full.

Today she showed up with THREE saddles in her van. I asked her how she got them in there. "There's nothing else in there today...". Dang. I feel special. Like First Class.

In addition to the the lovely little custom Veneto posted earlier, I also received a Grande Bolzano on the FLEXX base for my inventory and a Piccolo Trentino on the Semi-FLEXX base for a long-time customer (She has graduated from her Buttera to a more open dressage-model :-) )

Note how these two models are very similar in form and function? They will ride and fit the same, but the Trentino has more refinement and details, hence a higher MSRP.

Note that all my saddles can be swapped out with the FLEXX, semi-FLEXX, or rigid bases. I have a stockpile of bases and will let you try whatever we think will work for your horse.

But sometimes, someone needs something even more custom to be just right.

This slender, long-legged rider loved the flap length and shape of the Veneto, but prefers the more open seat and more freedom of leg position that the Torino offers.

For her, Camillo made a Veneto saddle with Torino integrated knee-blocks instead of the Veneto external thigh-blocks.

In black Mastrotto oiled nubuck leather with a soft grippy suede seat and contrasting grey stitching for a little extra refinement. We used the FLEXX tree for her thick-withered, short-backed big-moving Icelandic.

My first Bolzano for a customer has arrived, in a deep, rich midnight blue and black oiled nubuck leather. Semi-FLEXX base.

For quality control, I felt obliged to test-sit this saddle, and it passes with 5 stars! Cushy, supportive seat and the blocks follow the shape of my leg perfectly, without being in the way. This one is a keeper.

I am filling my next box at EDIX in The Netherlands, and will ask them to ship it on Friday.

There is a saddle for a customer in there, and I won't make her wait longer, so hither it will come!

There is still room in that box, so if anyone needs anything, get your order in to me by Friday evening. No room for another saddle in that box, but room for just about anything else. Add away.

Ghost Trentino in the Piccolo seat size, with a semi-FLEXX base. It will fit comparably to an English seat size 17-17.5" . The Semi-FLEXX base will provide narrow twist for the rider while clearing most high withers, but still move nicely with your horse in all directions.

The Trentino has a moderate, supportive block that is just the right shape and size to provide support, without being restrictive.

This saddle is made of Julia leather in a warm brown and black. Ghost's Italian Julia leather is one of our premium leathers ($100 extra charge). It has a lovely heft, rich, deep tones, and looks better and better the more miles you put on it.

Includes 5 Dee-rings at the front and 3 Dee-rings at the rear, and a pair of nifty stirrup-hangers, so you don't even have to bang your shins on your irons as you skip happily out to tack up.

I sometimes have clients ask me for an Iberian saddle, with the comments always being that the Iberian saddles place the rider in such a lovely, comfortable position.

About 6 months ago, I asked Ghost if they could create an Iberian model.

Camillo Cavallin (aka “Maestro”) set to work, and the Navarra ($1350) was born. I received the first one. Clapping, very happy!!!! Not only is it beautiful, but the seat does indeed put me in an effortless, comfortable position. The steeper, wider Spanish cantle (”Gallery”) doesn’t push me into any particular position, and the flatter seat at the base of the cantle lets my seat-bones just plop down square as can be. It’s remarkably supportive without interfering.

But wait! There is more!!!! I suspect Camillo enjoyed the assignment, because the Navarra was followed by the Picasso ($1350), Galizia ($1350), Vaquera ($1350), Aragona ($1250), and the Portogesa ($1350).

If you think you will love that Spanish cantle, but prefer another model, we can make any Ghost saddle with the Spanish cantle.

Remember when we were kids, and the saddle-pads were so boring, that we just made our own?

Not that that hurt us, but...

Kids' saddle-pads aren't boring anymore. :-)

The Glitter-pad photos don't do them justice, so I made a video of those. The Glitter-pads are also available for us big kids with full-size saddles ;-) All of these pads include the full-length wool felt inserts and the complete shim-kit. Construction is a hard-wearing poly-mix, with a cotton underside in contact with the horse. 2 main pockets for full-length removable inserts, and 3 shim-pockets on each side.

Tomorrow it begins. Summer, that is. Yes, it will be 38 degrees and raining. Doesn't matter. It begins.

My 3-horse slant-load trailer is clean and shiny and packed with saddles, pads, girths, inserts, stirrups, fuzzy seat-savers, fit-kits.

Off to the Battle of the Flatlands we go.

Ft Lewis Challenge / Battle of the Flatlands is the first endurance ride of the season. And it's a blast.

Everyone is excited to get out on the trail, people haven't seen each other since October, the ride camp is large and flat and open and comfy. I use my horse trailer as a camper and get to fall asleep to the smell of hay and leather from 20 saddles. Heaven.

And then, when it couldn't get much better, the ride organizer messages me that there will be a BURGER-TRUCK!!!!! And I thought last year's coffee-wagon was da bomb.
