Save Our Cocker Spaniels - SOCKS A Sanctuary and Rescue
We love Cocker Spaniels but will assist with others if fosters are available. Welcome to Save Our Cocker Spaniels or SOCKS!

We are a registered 501c3 organization

We don’t really have a set boundary but we are attempting to help rescue cocker spaniels from mid FL to south GA and from Jacksonville Fl through the panhandle to South Al and Southeastern MS. We still have some great foster homes in the southern part of the state so may pop up there every now and then who knows! We do adopt out of state but we are limiting

adoptions to Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and South East Mississippi. We do require adopters to come to Florida to meet and pick up their new family members. Our pups will not be allowed to fly cargo on any airliner. Our adoption fees:
1 year and younger- $500
13 months to 5 years - $400
6 years to 9 years - $350
10 Years and over - $250

Mission Statement: To educate cocker spaniel owners of the care, health concerns and behavioral needs of a cocker spaniel prior to their adoption. To ensure cocker spaniels in our care are placed in foster care prior to finding an appropriate loving forever home. To provide quality veterinary care to all cocker spaniels in our care. PLEASE READ BELOW:
1. SOCKS ADOPTS TO FAMILIES IN FLORIDA, GEORGIA, SOUTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN MISSISSIPPI. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA YOU WOULD NEED TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA TO COMPLETE YOUR ADOPTION.
2. WE DO CHECK VET REFERENCES AND YOUR CURRENT PETS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, HEARTWORM TESTING AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF PURCHASE OF HW PREVENTION.
3. ALL DOGS AND CATS IN YOUR HOME MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
4. IF WE DO NOT KNOW A DOG’S HISTORY WITH CHILDREN WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.
5. ADOPTIONS ARE NOT DONE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. WE WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS AND THEN SCREEN ALL AND CHOOSE THE BEST MATCH.
6. WE WILL NOT SET UP MEET AND GREETS UNTIL YOU HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION. TRANSPORTATION TO A MEET AND GREET IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER.
7. ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.

It’s Tongue Out Tuesday! We are featuring MR. WIGGLES! He’s such a sweetheart.

Mr. Wiggles came to SOCKS after his family could no longer take care of him. And boy, did he need some “taking care of.”

He had heartworm and f***l tests. Both came back negative. Yay! His vaccinations were brought up to date. Medicated baths began to treat his ye**ty skin. He started receiving treatment for his chronic ear infections. Wiggles also had a dental where 25 teeth were extracted. At least now, he can enjoy his food and treats he can get his foster mom to give him. We understand he’s a big mooch. 😆 That’s understandable.

Wiggles loves running in the yard exploring, chasing the squirrels and playing with toys. You just have to smile when watching him. 😁

**Mitch Available for Foster to Adopt!**

Dear future family,
If you're reading this, I want you to know that I have been through some tough times, but I am finally free. My current journey began on the side of the road in rural Georgia. Me and my best buddy were lost and wandering around. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. I laid next to him to comfort him as he left this world. It was there that I was discovered, I was sick. Sicker than I realized, the doggy doctor said the word sepsis and the human that found me seemed worried. Thankfully, I was helped along and I was given to a wonderful rescue in Florida that promised I would recover from being hungry, alone and from having heartworms.

I've been in my foster home for a few months now. There are other dogs, a child, and activity here and that makes me happy. I am in love with life and I want to be the center of everything. Now that the doggy doctor here says I'm out of the woods with my heartworms I am ready to gradually begin embracing life to the fullest again. I am looking for a forever family who would foster me until I have tested negative for those nasty heartworms.

Things I love: food, treats, zoomies, snuggling, belly rubs, all people from small to tall, toys! chew bones (which sometimes I don't like to share), walks, bath time, and yes, even going to the vet clinic where I act like a complete ham and win over everyone I meet. I am also crate trained and housebroken, especially if taken out right after I eat.

I do need someone to continue to work with me on not pulling on the leash. I currently use a slow feeder bowl because I like food a little too much, so I inhale it if it's in a regular bowl.

I am a 5 year old English Cocker and weigh 27 lbs. I love kids and am okay with other dogs. I haven’t met a cat so not sure about that. My foster mom always tells me how smart I am. I sit and lay down on command. I am just so eager to please. If you think you would be interested in learning more about me, please submit an application at saveourcockerspaniels.org. I can't wait to meet you! ❤️

Love,
Mitch

SOCKS Foster Wilson went to see Dr Brown, the vet opthamologist earlier this week. He has uvietis in both eyes whuch is an inflammation of the eye's middle layer, the uvea, which can cause redness, pain, blurred vision, and sensitivity to light so is being treated aggressively with drops. One eye has a very poor prognosis and the other may be salvageable and a candidate for cataract surgery. He has a recheck in 2 weeks and we will know more. Foster mom Karen says he is very chilled and a love bug. ❤️

📣 We NEED FOSTER HOMES!!! Shelters and rescues are busting at the seams. WE NEED YOU. We can only save as many as we have fosters for. If no foster is available, the dog can’t be rescued and their future is hanging by a thread that can snap at any moment.

Fostering these precious souls is so rewarding. Being with them on their journey to a new deserving life is amazing. You can see and feel the thanks and love they give. Give it a try.

If you live, basically, in the northern half of Florida, SOCKS needs YOU. The pups need YOU. SOCKS will provide the vetting, medications, heartworm & flea preventatives and prescription food, if needed. You provide a comfy place to lay their head, a full tummy and love…lots of love. Give it a try. We will help you along the way, especially if you are new to fostering.

Should you have questions, message the page or email us at: [email protected] Foster applications are available by clicking on https://www.saveourcockerspaniels.org/foster-adoption-application

If you don’t live in our area, check with a rescue or shelter in you area. They need you as well.

Thank you! Fostering helps us save more lives everyday. ❤️

Welcome Roman to SOCKS Forever Foster Sanctuary. Roman turned 13 yrs old yesterday. Happy Birthday Roman and welcome! Roman was recently diagnosed with Cushings Disease and low Thyroid. His family loved him very much but unfortunately his family couldn’t afford his medical care and the medical care for his little human sister they will be traveling a lot for so we were tagged in their post and offered to help. Roman is heading to the vet next week for vaccinations, f***l and Heartworm test and to be checked out thoroughly so we can come up with a plan for him. He will be feeling much better once he’s on some meds. Thank you to Diane for opening her heart and home to Roman. He has met his foster fur brother and sister and all is well. ❤️
