Save Our Cocker Spaniels - SOCKS A Sanctuary and Rescue
We love Cocker Spaniels but will assist with others if fosters are available. Welcome to Save Our Cocker Spaniels or SOCKS!

We are a registered 501c3 organization

We don’t really have a set boundary but we are attempting to help rescue cocker spaniels from mid FL to south GA and from Jacksonville Fl through the panhandle to South Al and Southeastern MS. We still have some great foster homes in the southern part of the state so may pop up there every now and then who knows! We do adopt out of state but we are limiting

adoptions to Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and South East Mississippi. We do require adopters to come to Florida to meet and pick up their new family members. Our pups will not be allowed to fly cargo on any airliner. Our adoption fees:
1 year and younger- $500
13 months to 5 years - $400
6 years to 9 years - $350
10 Years and over - $250

Mission Statement: To educate cocker spaniel owners of the care, health concerns and behavioral needs of a cocker spaniel prior to their adoption. To ensure cocker spaniels in our care are placed in foster care prior to finding an appropriate loving forever home. To provide quality veterinary care to all cocker spaniels in our care. PLEASE READ BELOW:
1. SOCKS ADOPTS TO FAMILIES IN FLORIDA, GEORGIA, SOUTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN MISSISSIPPI. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA YOU WOULD NEED TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA TO COMPLETE YOUR ADOPTION.
2. WE DO CHECK VET REFERENCES AND YOUR CURRENT PETS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, HEARTWORM TESTING AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF PURCHASE OF HW PREVENTION.
3. ALL DOGS AND CATS IN YOUR HOME MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
4. IF WE DO NOT KNOW A DOG’S HISTORY WITH CHILDREN WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.
5. ADOPTIONS ARE NOT DONE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. WE WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS AND THEN SCREEN ALL AND CHOOSE THE BEST MATCH.
6. WE WILL NOT SET UP MEET AND GREETS UNTIL YOU HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION. TRANSPORTATION TO A MEET AND GREET IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER.
7. ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.

Foster PETEY stopped by for Tongue Out Tuesday. He’s such a cutie!

Petey came to SOCKS back in April. He was a mess to look at then. Petey had ear infections that have since cleared up. He walked kind of “wonky.” The rehab vet wasn’t concerned and no treatment was needed.

Petey also had some inflammation in his left eye. Medication helped a bit. Since he had no sight in this eye and to avoid further complications down the road, his left eye was removed. It doesn’t hold him back a bit.

Petey has been groomed, looking awesome and ready for his forever home. Could that be you?

❤️Petey Available for Adoption❤️
Have you heard of the book “The Puppy That Wanted A Boy?” The puppy’s name is Petey. That’s my name too! We even look alike. Just like the Petey in the story, I’m a 6-year-old “puppy” that wants a boy…well, forever home. If you are looking for a spunky little sidekick to be your new BFF, well, I just may be the one for you.

My foster mom says I’m a York-Pe-Doodle. After submitting my DNA, it says I’m mostly Yorkie, Pekingese and Poodle. I weigh a whopping 16 pounds. My vaccinations are up-to-date, heartworm negative and chipped. I go potty outside.

I’m always ready to explore the backyard. So a fenced yard would be great for me to run in. Do you like to go for walks? I’m your guy! Car rides? Count me in. I Enjoy playing with toys and will play tug with you. You may have noticed that I’m a “winker.” Yes, one of my eyes was removed. But, let me tell you, it doesn’t hold me back in the least. I’m a little guy with a big guy attitude. I can be rather vocal when I see other dogs. I just want to meet them. I get along just fine with my foster buddies and other dog visitors. I’ve not lived with cats, so that’s an unknown. I’ll let you know when someone is at the door or a squirrel is invading our yard. The kids in the neighborhood like to pet me. That’s cool. I like that.

If all of that sounds great to you, just go to https://www.saveourcockerspaniels.org/foster-adoption-application to complete an application. Remember, adopt your new BFF today, as tomorrow may be too late.

SOCKS asked how we can help with the animals in Kerr County flooding that are misplaced and or injured and were told that Austin Pets Alive! is coordinating the fundraising effort to help those in need. We ask that you take a moment and donate. Any amount helps. The videos and photographs are just heartwretching. We are praying for the families and for the pets. 💔

🚨 EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED with flooding in Kerr County!

The Guadalupe River is overflooded and has caused loss of life and devastation in Kerr County. We believe there will be a lot of pets hurt and displaced during this, and our support is needed.

Our teams are already in Kerrville, providing medical care onsite and beginning to transport animals. We will be working with Kerrville Pets Alive over the next several days and bringing pets from the Kerr County shelter to APA!

We need your help! Here’s how you can support:

🚙 Volunteer to drive to the hill country to pick up animals and/or bring supplies, support the intake, care and placement of onsite animals, and/or help accept and sort supplies onsite at APA! for the next few days

🐾 Sign up to emergency foster a dog or cat to make space for incoming animals

📦 Donations of supplies like pet food (dog and cat, both wet and dry), pet carriers, tarps, and towels. Supplies can be dropped off at our Cesar Chavez location until 7pm today (7/4) and then again tomorrow (7/5) from 8am-6pm

❗️ If you can support in one of the ways above, please fill out this form: https://bit.ly/44OknI4

Can’t help physically? Make a monetary donation now to support displaced pets by clicking the donate button below or visiting http://bit.ly/4llHEqU

We will share updates as we have them. Thank you for coming through for Central Texas pets!

Featured animals are those currently on-site at APA!

SOCKS Alumni Blue got a new bed! At first it looks like he thought it was a giant toy and was rolling it around. Blue was a breeder boy and one of our longest rescue fosters as we got his ears and skin cleared up. He came to us so neglected, with little hair and a huge gash on his neck. He never saw a toy until he was eight so it warms our heart to see him looking so handsome, happy and playing with his bed in the videos we saw.❤️ It’s a fresh reminder of why we do what we do.

Have you thought about fostering but weren’t quite sure? Now is the time to say YES! I’LL HELP SAVE A LIFE!

📣 SOCKS NEED FOSTER HOMES!!! Shelters and rescues are busting at the seams. WE NEED YOU. We can only save as many as we have fosters for. If no foster is available, the dog can’t be rescued and their future is hanging by a thread that can snap at any moment.

Fostering these precious souls is so rewarding. Being with them on their journey to a new deserving life is amazing. You can see and feel the thanks and love they give. Give it a try.

If you live, basically, in the northern half of Florida, SOCKS needs YOU. The pups need YOU. SOCKS will provide the vetting, medications, heartworm & flea preventatives and prescription food, if needed. You provide a comfy place to lay their head, a full tummy and love…lots of love. Give it a try. We will help you along the way, especially if you are new to fostering.

Should you have questions, message the page or email us at: [email protected] Foster applications are available by clicking on https://www.saveourcockerspaniels.org/foster-adoption-application

If you don’t live in our area, check with a rescue or shelter in you area. They need you as well.

Thank you! Fostering helps us save more lives everyday. ❤️

This was a busy week even though it was a holiday. Monday, amazing volunteers transported Phoebe from SC to Jacksonville where she was taken to our vet where she was vetted and groomed. She will be spayed and have a dental in the coming weeks. Last week Christine with A Place of Hope Rescue in Pensacola asked us to help them get Daisy, a small dog from Gainesville so we worked it out for Wed and she was picked up by Katharine, a SOCKS foster and Judy our President and taken to Nina, a SOCKS foster to hold. Thursday, Teresa, another SOCKS foster picked up Phoebe at our vet in Jacksonville and held her until this morning. And then it all came together thanks to transporters Diana, Judy, Emily, Sue and Christine! Phoebe is with her foster mom Deb in Navarre and Daisy is with A Place of Hope rescue and has already had a bath and face trim so we can see her beautiful eyes. It’s not easy when you have a rescue that covers such a large area as SOCKS so we are thankful for all the volunteers who say yes when we ask for their help! ❤️

Sweet Foster Colby was at the vet yesterday and his ears were flushed and treated with Claro and he got some antibiotic drops for his eyes. His bloodwork was redone to check his coags and it was good so he will be scheduled for neuter. Yay! He is a little itchy so he had a cytopoint and he’s getting medicated baths. Colby is the sweetest, calmest little guy with a gorgeous feathered long tail. Colby is estimated at two years old and weighs 33 lbs. He is going to make someone a wonderful companion! ❤️If interested in adopting Colby submit an application at saveourcockerspaniels.org.
