Save Our Cocker Spaniels - SOCKS A Florida Sanctuary
We love Cocker Spaniels but will assist with others if fosters are available. Welcome to Save Our Cocker Spaniels or SOCKS!

We are a registered 501c3 organization

We don’t really have a set boundary but we are attempting to help rescue cocker spaniels from mid FL to south GA and from Jacksonville Fl through the panhandle to South Al and Southeastern MS. We still have some great foster homes in the southern part of the state so may pop up there every now and then who knows! We do adopt out of state but we are limiting

adoptions to Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and South East Mississippi. We do require adopters to come to Florida to meet and pick up their new family members. Our pups will not be allowed to fly cargo on any airliner. Our adoption fees:
1 year and younger- $500
13 months to 5 years - $400
6 years to 9 years - $350
10 Years and over - $250

Mission Statement: To educate cocker spaniel owners of the care, health concerns and behavioral needs of a cocker spaniel prior to their adoption. To ensure cocker spaniels in our care are placed in foster care prior to finding an appropriate loving forever home. To provide quality veterinary care to all cocker spaniels in our care. PLEASE READ BELOW:
1. SOCKS ADOPTS TO FAMILIES IN FLORIDA, GEORGIA, SOUTHERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHEASTERN MISSISSIPPI. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA YOU WOULD NEED TO TRAVEL TO FLORIDA TO COMPLETE YOUR ADOPTION.
2. WE DO CHECK VET REFERENCES AND YOUR CURRENT PETS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, HEARTWORM TESTING AND BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF PURCHASE OF HW PREVENTION.
3. ALL DOGS AND CATS IN YOUR HOME MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
4. IF WE DO NOT KNOW A DOG’S HISTORY WITH CHILDREN WE WILL NOT ADOPT TO A FAMILY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.
5. ADOPTIONS ARE NOT DONE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. WE WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS AND THEN SCREEN ALL AND CHOOSE THE BEST MATCH.
6. WE WILL NOT SET UP MEET AND GREETS UNTIL YOU HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION. TRANSPORTATION TO A MEET AND GREET IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER.
7. ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.

Our holiday Tongue Out Tuesday Star is Forever Foster TOBY. He’s just the cutest boy. We’re sure he’s on the Nice List and Santa Paws will be very good to him.

Toby came to SOCKS in Oct. 2022, four years ago. We think he was a breeder dump based on where a Good Samaritan found him. He was skinny, flea infested and blind. We discovered he was heartworm positive.

In Feb. 2023, Toby had cataract surgery. He was able to see again in one eye. We were so happy for him. The following April, Toby began losing g his sight. His retinal became detached due to the sudden onset of high blood pressure. Unfortunately, treating the high blood pressure did not result in him getting his sight back. We also discovered he has Pulmonary Hypertension as a result from the damage caused by the heartworms. Toby has both eyes removed the following Sept.

Being blind doesn’t stop this sweet boy from loving his toys, especially his ball. 🎾 He makes sure he is surrounded by them.

We love this boy and are happy that we can give him the love and care he deserves. If you would like to help Toby by sponsoring him, just message the page. It’s only $10 per month. You can cancel anytime.

SOCKS Foster Polly is visiting Ms Sue while her foster parents are on vacation. Polly was estatic when she saw Ms Sue’s granddaughters so it was obvious she’s had a little girl in her life before coming to rescue. Polly is deaf but hasn’t missed a beat at the change of being at Ms Sue’s house. She’s already learned the routine and stays pretty close to Ms Sue. Did we mention that she loves belly rubs? Oh yeah! Her favorite! You really don’t think about her being deaf. ❤️Polly is 4 yrs old and available for adoption at saveourcockerspaniels.org.

Update: they removed a molar and he is home. We just need to get him back eating. Treasure has an eating disorder so getting him to eat is not easy on normal days. We have Entyce to help jumpstart that process.

Say a prayer for our Forever Foster Treasure. Last Friday he suddenly had a almost golf ball size lump show up under his eye. We rushed him to Dr Sprayberry and they lanced it and gave him some strong antibiotics and pain meds. They said this is typically from an abcessed tooth but they didn’t see a problem with his teeth. He’s still not himself, the lump is still pretty big and he is eating very little even though his foster mom Sue has cooked him all kinds of tasty food. So, back to the vet he went this morning for them to sedate and xray him to determine what’s going on. Ms Sue didn’t want to go into the Holiday weekend with him not feeling good. We will keep you updated! ❤️

Alum CLEMENTINE & her fur brother Mikey

MIKEY: Hey Clemmy. Did you know that Santa Paws is coming soon?
CLEMENTINE: Sure do. I can hardly wait!
M: Me either. I hope we get lots of treats & toys.
C: Well, I’ve been a really good girl. So I’m not worried. But you…
M: Why do you say that? I’ve been a good boy too!
C: I know. I just wanted to ruffle your fur.
M: You better be careful. You’ll get moved to the naughty list.
C: Awe, Santa Paws knows I was just kidding. We’ll both be happy pups come Christmas morning. We’re bestest buds.
M: We sure are.

Dear Santa Paws,
I’ve been a really good boy this year. Please be sure to leave lots of treats and toys for me. You can’t miss my stocking. It’s the only one hanging right there on the mantle.

Love & Licks,
Alum BRINKLEY (fka Hudson)

Every dog lover (and all animal lovers) wishes for this. We have to keep trying, doing the best we can. We may not be able to change the world for all dogs, but surely for that one dog, the world will be changed for them.

It is with broken hearts that we share 13-year-old Forever Foster BENTLEY , Bent, Bent-ka-bob, made his way to the Rainbow Bridge. He was another victim of cancer. What Judy, his foster mom thought was just a cough, turned out to be mets in his lungs from the cancer in his spleen. Along with other issues, things progressed the last few weeks and the bad days were outweighing the good ones. It was time to let him go.

Bentley was with Judy for about 18 months. He came to SOCKs from a shelter where his owners turned him in because they couldn't afford his medical issues. He had been with them since he was a puppy.

Bentley had horrible ears infections and had lost a good portion of this coat. We discovered he was sensitive to many foods. He even had to have a h**p collar and leash as he was sensitive to nylon. Once we got all of those issues addressed, he grew the most beautiful chocolate coat. He looked like velvet when he was just groomed. We even did a pretty good job of warding off the ear infections.

Bentley LOVED balls. The little squeaky ones were his favorite. He took a ball with him everywhere he went. Judy could spend hours throwing them for him down the hallway. He was her 33-pound lap warmer, always by her side. Bentley had a loud bark. The house will be way to quiet without him.

Thank you Melissa Webb for making the trip to rescue him from the shelter over a holiday weekend and Pamela Buchanan for being his first foster mom. Thank you to his veterinarians, his sponsors and all of our village.

Fly high sweet boy. You will always be a part of Judy’s heart. She will think of you every time she throws a ball for any dog. 🎾
