It is with broken hearts that we share 13-year-old Forever Foster BENTLEY , Bent, Bent-ka-bob, made his way to the Rainbow Bridge. He was another victim of cancer. What Judy, his foster mom thought was just a cough, turned out to be mets in his lungs from the cancer in his spleen. Along with other issues, things progressed the last few weeks and the bad days were outweighing the good ones. It was time to let him go.
Bentley was with Judy for about 18 months. He came to SOCKs from a shelter where his owners turned him in because they couldn't afford his medical issues. He had been with them since he was a puppy.
Bentley had horrible ears infections and had lost a good portion of this coat. We discovered he was sensitive to many foods. He even had to have a h**p collar and leash as he was sensitive to nylon. Once we got all of those issues addressed, he grew the most beautiful chocolate coat. He looked like velvet when he was just groomed. We even did a pretty good job of warding off the ear infections.
Bentley LOVED balls. The little squeaky ones were his favorite. He took a ball with him everywhere he went. Judy could spend hours throwing them for him down the hallway. He was her 33-pound lap warmer, always by her side. Bentley had a loud bark. The house will be way to quiet without him.
Thank you Melissa Webb for making the trip to rescue him from the shelter over a holiday weekend and Pamela Buchanan for being his first foster mom. Thank you to his veterinarians, his sponsors and all of our village.
Fly high sweet boy. You will always be a part of Judy’s heart. She will think of you every time she throws a ball for any dog. 🎾
