SCGJ Boer Goats is located outside of Vaiden, Mississippi, and is owned and operated by Jacy Vaughn. I have been breeding, raising, and showing Boer Goats since 2003. My herd consists of registered and commercial Boers and Boer crosses. Recently, I started going to a few ABGA shows, but the majority of my show career has been through 4-H, with multiple Grand Champion market wethers and commercial
does. The past few years I've been very lax with everything about my goats, which caused my herd to deteriorate rapidly in quality. I made the decision to get serious about it again, so some major changes had to be made. I brought back my old goals and beliefs, revised slightly. I made the decision to rework my entire herd. I do not have ANY goats left that I have used before. I came across the opportunity to purchase a herd being dispersed, part of a herd being reduced, and a couple other goats here and there. None of these animals are at my goal. All of these animals have qualities that I want and are missing other qualities that I want. They will merely be used as a starting point to breed toward my goal. My goal is to end up with goats that can go to the ring or the rail. That is, goats that can win at all levels and still be true to the breed being a MEAT animal. It is going to take years of careful breeding and heavy culling to get where I'm going, but I have a plan in place to get me there.
