What Happened to Sandy at "Shelter Dogs To Dream Dogs"? Our rescue pup, Sandy a scruffy 20lb terrier, was delivered for care and training to Cate Sacks, owner of "Shel
ter Dogs To Dream Dogs” in the San Diego, CA area. This woman who fancies herself to be a dog "trainer" uses bizarre methods: oven mitts, chains, tiny crates, and even ties dogs to cinder blocks in her drive way. We left Sandy there on May 21, 2014. Cate Sacks received $ 4300 from our non profit dog rescue for her services. When we were out of money, and making arrangements for Sandy- on June 7th, she wrote to us in an email: " I always give the option after boot camp to make the dog my property so I can continue the path started and find a home in the right way". She switched from being a training business to a non profit "rescue" in the blink of an eye. We thought she was a reputable, honest person. Much to our HORROR, we would find out months later, that on that VERY SAME day, she instead. drove our little Sandy to her friend, LInda Septon, the rescue coordinator at Chula Vista Animal Shelter and ordered him euthanized-- behind our back. She tried her very best to cover her evil deed. After months of digging, we were able to put the timeline together. We Realized that just one day before she killed Sandy, June 6th, she had received our last $2500 and deposited into her account. Then for the following TWO WEEKS....she sent fake progress reports via email in writing, telling us he was coming along, he was "fine", when he was already DEAD. We delivered a final rescue transfer on June 15, not knowing she had already had him killed. She thanked us in writing, and told us he was "coming along". Then five days later she sent a "text" stating that she had euthanized Sandy. WHAT KIND OF MONSTER DOES THIS TO A RESCUE DOG? And lies to the rescue for 2 weeks…. To this very day, years later, we don't know if she hurt him or what kind of condition he was in when he was killed. It's 2022 and she says we made the story up to "take her business". Cate Sacks actually wrote on Next Door that she was "FRAMED". It took almost a year to find out she had taken him to the shelter because she told dozens of lies. The woman is a COMPULSIVE LIAR. Every single conversation with her was in writing. Paper trail documented her every move with, every lie. She said he was hurt, that he was feral, that he "didn't want to live". She told lie and after lie and refused to even refund our money for killing our dog. We sued her in small claims court first and issued a subpoenas to Linda Septon, and others find out what she was hiding. She killed our dog that did not belong to her, that she had been trusted and paid to care for. We received a refund from this scam artist after 6 months. But Sandy was killed at the hands of this greedy woman who calls herself a rescue and trainer. We were betrayed in the most horrific way. There were no consequences from any of the authorities, or agencies that are charged to protect consumers from such scams. California has no laws that regulate dog trainers. This woman has no credentials that we could find anywhere. She had our truthful reviews removed from Yelp and Angie's List. There is a report to SD County Sheriffs Dept, Attorney General, BBB, District Attorney that could NOT be tampered with. Her "Doggy Boot Camp' at "Shelter Dogs To Dreams Dogs" marches on. She is currently advertising in the Alpine Community Network for new clients. You are welcome to call her, perhaps she will tell you about the other THREE rescue dogs she had killed at the shelter with her BFF, or why she pretended Sandy was alive for two weeks sending fake updates. Or why she would kill her clients dog without so much as a phone when she had been touch with them a few hours earlier by email. But more than likely, she will tell you it’s a made up story by a local cyber bully. Facts are the facts. SD Animal Rights

We were victimized by Cate Sacks and we are sharing the story of what she did to us and our rescue dog. She FINALLY made a settlement after dragging our rescue through nearly 5 years of hell. Tried in vain to intimidate us by suing for defamation. The TRUTH IS THE TRUTH. Cate Sacks is a bonafide animal abuser and greedy, pathological liar. Know that there are plenty of other dog owners who stepped forward with their stories of her lies and greed. I would not trust all those 5 star reviews Yelp and Google reviews.
