Meet my new favorite shelter bestie, Red at mcacc west❤️🫶🏼

Red is said to be about 5 years old and she has had a rough go at the shelter. She was in medical isolation for weeks and weeks with a cold. Now she is better and ready to find her family. Sadly, when you see Red, you realize the shelter is most likely the best home she’s ever had😢
Red has all the evidence of outdoor living and neglect (see pictures in comments). She has been breed and needs some skin allergies addressed. Her skin has improved a bit at the shelter, but she still needs to be seen by an outside vet.
Red is polite, affectionate, takes treats gently, appears potty trained and kennel trained, knows sit, and could not be more gentle.
She does not appear at all reactive to other dogs at the shelter. I actually think she would love a friend as long as she was given proper decompression time and slow intros.
Kids would most likely be fine as long as they are polite with animals🥰

Red deserves all the love this world has to offer!

Meet my cheeky friend, Monty at mcacc west❤️🫶🏼📸
This boy CANNOT take a bad picture! He always understands the assignment haha.

Monty is said to be about 2 years old and he was found wandering as a stray. He had a dirty collar on that was about 6Xs too big for him🙄

Monty is so awesome! He is petite, affectionate, he knows sit, he appears potty trained, and he takes treats gently. I did not see any dog reactivity when I had him out, but that being said, he would absolutely need all the recommended time separated and very slow and safe introductions to other animals.

Wanna meet my friend?! Come down to mcacc west today! No appointments needed👏🏼

Meet my favorite gal pal, Reba at mcacc west!❤️😇🥰

Reba is said to be about 5 years old and is not only so loving, but well behaved too.
Unfortunately, in the kennel, when somebody she doesn’t know approaches, she does show her teeth. She is very shy at first. But as soon as you open the kennel doors and leash her, she is a totally different dog!🥰 Absolutely wonderful. This is a perfect example of why you have to meet dogs outside of the kennel because most of the kennel behavior is coming from overstimulation and fear.

Reba just wants to please her people and be close to you. Reba appears potty trained, and walks well on the leash with direction. She knows sit and takes treats gently. Reba does not appear reactive to other dogs at the shelter. But that being said, she would still absolutely need all the recommended time separated, and very slow and safe introductions to other pets. The shelter is recommending older children, but it is not a requirement.

This sweet girl breaks my heart💔 because I know she will get passed over because of her fear in the kennel with new people. As much as we tell people to look past it, most people don’t. But I’m hoping by posting her and providing that information, somebody will take a chance on my girl🙏🏼

Please come meet my friend Reba today at mcacc west! Outside of her kennel🫶🏼
No appointments needed👏🏼

Bianca due to be euthanized TOMORROW 10/15 💔

After being at the shelter for MONTHS and MONTHS..
County now thinks she should be e-listed for a possible mammary mass 😓😓😓

This girl is literally sooooo sweet.
She LOVES people
Super affectionate
Great on the leash
Non reactive to other animals
5-6 years old
60lbs
Good with adult and kids (finder noted)

We do not know how she is with other dogs, we do know she is not good with cats.

She was definitely used for breeding which most likely had caused this mammary mass.

We can help with medical funds if she does need treatment for the masses. We are usually able to raise all the money that is needed 💰

Please give this amazing mama dog a chance at a happy life 💕

Princess to be euthanized 💔

Princess is heartbroken. She is confused, scared, and sad.

6 months ago she came to the shelter with her sister. Her sister quickly got adopted. For the next six months she’s been at the shelter then adopted twice and returned.

She can’t seem to get a break 💔💔💔💔

Princess is sensitive and needs serious decompressions and a patient adopter who won’t give up on her.

Notes from adopters-
Not good with small dog
Cuddly in the home
Non destructive
Good on leash but sometimes pancakes
Only did well with female dog
Growled at a male that rushed her
Not destructive inside

Princess is not confident, she’s been through a lot, and she’s still so fearful at the shelter with new people. If she knows you she’s a happy girl!

This girl has been through SOOOO MUCH.
She deserves a happy ending and not to be killed after ALL she has had to go through.

Princess needs pledges and a rescue to get her out of the shelter. If you are interested in fostering or adopting let us know ASAP!

‼️URGENT‼️Snickers needs a committed foster and NH rescue in order to live by EOB on 10/15‼️
Snickers is an Angel! She’s just a little shy. This is completely unwarranted, but here we are. We need to fight. She deserves a fight.

There’s always room for a Snickers ❤️
Snickers came in about 8 weeks ago and was afraid to the touch. Even leashing her was risky. But today she is a whole new pup! She’s is still a little bit shy, but she allows all petting and grooming. She licks and gives affection…it’s beautiful to see! She’s a sweety and loves her some hotdogs lol🌭

Snickers is said to be about 7 years old, she is potty trained and walks great on the leash. I think an adult home or older kids would be best. She does not react to little dogs, but dogs larger than her, she can be selective. I think she would be fine with slow intros to a home with small dogs or flying solo.

Snickers deserves a family that will give her the gift of time and lots of love🫶🏼
We would love to see this staff and volunteer favorite find her hero before it’s to late. Will you help us?

If you’re interested in fostering, please message our page asap!

Update: ADOPTED!!! …together!!🥰🥰

🆘 IRON AND RUSTY DUE TO BE EUTHANIZED 🆘

These 2 seniors brothers are due to be euthanized for not being able to get over their cold!! 😓

They are both 12 years old and have obviously been with each other their whole lives.
They are calm and friendly, a bit independent
Definitely need TLC and some medical care
(funds can be raised)

They are on medication but have not been able to kick their cold. One of them also has a limp that may need to be checked out.

These two boys are SOOOO beautiful and we can’t believe they have been there for months.

We do not know how they are with other dogs.

Anyone who adopts or rescues them will also be donated a free grooming for both pups! 🐶

THEY DON’T DESERVE TO DIE IN AN OVER CROWDED SHELTER 💔💔💔💔💔

Update: ADOPTED!!!⭐️⭐️

Meet my shy babe, Sherry 🫶🏼❤️
…Another one that does not like the camera too much📸🤣❤️
But that’s ok! Photos do not do her justice anyways! She’s gorgeous and tiny…and those ears…COME ON!

Sherry is said to be about 4 years old and she’s wonderful. Just shy. The finder said she was great with other dogs, just no cats🤣
Sherry is sweet and affectionate with everyone she meets…you just need to go slow and at her speed. I actually think other friendly dogs would help Sherry feel more confident.
Sherry walks well on the leash, takes treats gently, appears potty trained, and is very polite.

Sherry just wants to feel safe. She is one that hides in the corner of her kennel just begging for comfort and security. She deserves that kind of love. They all do.

Wanna meet Sherry? Come down to mcacc west today! No appointments needed👏🏼 and her adoption fee is sponsored through Oct 15th through the BISSELL Pet Foundation🫶🏼

Oh baby girl, Jenny ❤️…I’m back again… another week of Jenny being a good and shy girl but being passed over time and time again🫶🏼 Watching other dogs leave with new families😢 I love this girl so much and she trusts me now. I told her I would not stop until I find her family. And I won’t.

Jenny is said to be about 2 years old (I personally think more like 4) and she is adoptable at mcacc west. But Jenny is very scared. Jenny is a young, previous mama dog. She is very sweet and sensitive, but the shelter is terrifying for her.
Jenny wants love, she is just very shut down.
She appears potty trained, allows all grooming, and takes treats gently.
Jenny does not appear reactive to other dogs, but she is very shy so she will absolutely need all the recommended time to decompress and very slow and safe introductions to other pets in the home. I honestly think other friendly dogs would comfort her and help her build confidence.

Jenny just wants to feel safe.
She deserves that ❤️

01/10/2024

Two days ago, this sweet, beautiful face appeared on the euthanasia list. After reading her medical notes, it was clear she was incredibly sick and likely near death. We couldn’t bear the thought of her dying scared and alone in the shelter. Taking in a dog this sick is a huge emotional and financial commitment, but for us, giving a dog a second chance is ALWAYS worth it.

Yesterday, Desert Dog Project brought Nellie to the ER as quickly as we could. Our sweet girl was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, a serious and potentially fatal bacterial disease spread through the urine of infected animals. It's attacking her kidneys, and she's now in kidney failure. She has been admitted to the hospital for intensive treatment, and while her prognosis is still very uncertain, we remain hopeful she can pull through.

We visited Nellie today, but sadly, her condition is still critical. Although she’s receiving fluids, the doctors are deeply concerned because she’s not producing urine. We're holding on to hope and fighting for her, praying she turns a corner soon.

The financial burden is growing quickly—we haven’t even covered half of the first 24-hour bill, and another significant charge is due tonight. This is a costly battle, but one worth fighting for. We need your help to continue giving Nellie the care she desperately needs.

Please consider donating to support Nellie’s recovery:

ADOPTED ✨✨

Tom Ford needs a hero before 6pm 10/2

He came into the shelter on 9/11 happy to be off the streets. Wagging his tail and wanting affection.

Then he waited. And waited.

For 10 days he waited for someone to give him companionship and finally someone took him out, told him he was a good boy and gave him the affection he was craving.

Then he waited. And waited again.

He started jumping and barking to catch the attention of people walking by. 8 more days he waited and finally another volunteer took him out to spend time with him.

Only 17 days after he arrived so hopeful, his behavior had landed him on the shelters euthanasia list for stress.

The volunteers who took him out 9/29 were gutted when he looked up with love at their faces and they told him what a wonderful boy he was and they would try their best to save him.

This sweet puppy needs an adopter or rescue by 6pm 10/2. He is at MCACC WEST in Phoenix AZ. He is about 55 lbs and a yr old. He isn't reactive to dogs and actually pulls to get away from the barking. He is currently being treated for a cold but is responding well to the medication.

This week for our raffle we are raising funds for a group of 11 chihuahuas that Chi-Town has taken in.

These dogs all lived at a hoarding house. Taking in 11 dogs is NOT cheap. They all need to be fixed, vaccinated, and some need extra medical care.

Let’s raise money for these pups and for their new life.

They will be available for adoption soon ❤️

Some of them you still can not touch so it’s a work in progress getting them ready for adoption.

Please enter raffle for a chance to win $200 and to give these pups a new start at life 🐶

🌈RIP🌈

🆘Jimmy Neutron needs our help‼️He has a deadline on 9/25, and needs an adopter or he will be euthanized‼️🆘

Jimmy was brought into the shelter on 9/6, after he was found and kept in a warehouse. The finder fed him and said Jimmy became reactive and high energy. The ACO didn’t see the reactiveness when he was picked up. The next day, the finder called in because he found broken skin and this was documented as a bite. 😭

Staff found Jimmy to be loose and wiggly, leaning in for attention and pets. He lay chewing on a bone in his kennel and was leashed without issues. He hurried past reactive dogs and seemed interested in the calm ones. 🐶

Jimmy has been unfairly sentenced and he needs an adopter to save him. The shelter has made the requirement that if there are children in the home, they must be 12 and older. Please share his post and give him a chance at forever. 🙏
