Our Guiding Principles:
We believe that food can and should be growing locally in all possible circumstances in an environmentally non-destructive manner. This includes growing in urban areas. We will never use petroleum-based chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We perform as much of the labor as possible without the use of gasoline-powered tools. We buy organic seed whenever possible, and emphas
ize locally-adapted open-pollinated heirloom varieties. We raise all of our livestock to the highest standards possible. We do not use preventive antibiotics or growth hormones. All animals have access to pasture and are treated with the respect they deserve. We believe in the long-term building of soil fertility over the short-term application of crop-specific nutrients. We will donate a percentage of our product to charity. The farm will be transparent and open to visits from the public. We will believe that small-scale organic farming is vital to the sustainability of communities, economies, and the environment, and is a viable 21st century business model. Farmers should be compensated for their work accordingly.
