Fieldwerc Equitation Centre Fieldwerc Equitation Centre is a TRAINING centre that trains riders and their OWN horses to do their own jobs better. Like us only if you have a horse/horses.

We DO NOT give work/jobs, or find it for you. The FIELDWORK EQUITATION CENTRE has been born out of a need to support the WORKING HORSE - with correct training and with FUN and ENJOYMENT as the main goals. The most important principle is to help riders and horses to achieve a harmonious PARTNERSHIP together, each trusting the other. As a Founding Policy, the Fieldwork Equitation Centre has FREE Mem

bership. There's far too many other expenses involved with horse riding for pleasure, and one of the main aims of FEC is to keep the training AFFORDABLE, to encourage the participation of as many horse riders who ride for pleasure or for work as possible.

More sound support for Charlotte Dujardin, with VERY applicable comments!!!

Ethan Romas-Hill
As many of you may have heard, Charlotte Dujardin has a suspension from FEI competition and has had to pull out of the Paris Olympics. This news is deeply unsettling, and as a Vet with a commitment to animal welfare, and also dressage trainer who wants dressage to actually have a future, I feel compelled to speak up.

In the horse world, we witness numerous practices that often go unchallenged. From overfeeding horses into metabolic disease and induced laminitis, to lunging them for hours before a competition, secret water fasting, and even Botox injections into tails to stop them from swinging. Insulin and steroid hormones are administered frequently, and the use of Acepromazine at smaller competitions is widespread and almost a cultural norm in some disciplines. These are not secrets; they happen right before our eyes, yet no one speaks up until it is the flavour of the month to hate people we don’t even know.

Now, a video from four years ago resurfaces, and suddenly, we're targeting one of the most accomplished and respected riders in our sport. Everyone’s memory is so short… I understand I might be putting my head on the chopping block here, and as a veterinarian, I expect some backlash. But I can't sit back and watch this kind of bullying unfold. I’m not really going to comment too much on what happens in the video, because that’s not what this is about. This is about the human component here. The double standards, the self righteousness, and the aggressive cancel culture.

Is what Charlotte is seen doing in the video right? Probably not. But context matters, and we lack it here. It feels suspiciously timed, just enough to push her out of the way for the upcoming Olympics.

I see more damage done to horses daily by riders using ill-fitting saddles or feeding poor diets out of frugality. I am not condoning the actions in the video, but let's be real: Charlotte Dujardin has done more for the appreciation of harmony in modern dressage than any other rider. She made wearing a helmet "cool," leading to the banning of the top hat and improving the safety of our sport.

This is a video from 2.5 or 4 years ago. Reflect on who you were 4 years ago; chances are, you've grown and changed. The most crucial aspect of training horses is acknowledging our humanity, learning from our mistakes, and committing to not repeating them. We can't change the past, but we can forgive ourselves and strive for better.

I take mental health seriously. Before you type or speak, remember that relentless online trolling can have devastating effects. Charlotte Dujardin has improved the lives of countless riders and horses through her teachings. Let’s show some human decency and focus on constructive actions, rather than relentlessly attack, until it’s no longer on trend, and everyone forgets about this. This is literally what happened every time something like this comes up. Time to break the cycle of extreme criticism and cancel culture of people we don’t even know.

It’s also worth noting that Charlotte has lost her sponsorship from Charles Owen helmets, a brand she popularised in my opinion. She is the reason Charles Owen remains a top choice for riders across generations and disciplines. Very disappointing to see how easily discarded she was and I’ll always keep this in mind when purchasing a helmet.

Let’s put down the pitchforks and torches. Remember, there is a real human behind this. Let’s commit to kindness, and basic human decency.

Anyone who misses the point, and wants to try to justify bullying in the comment section here, please take a walk. This post is not for you. Your time will be wasted because your comment will be deleted.

Copied from Monica Hope-Brown......

Someone of the calibre of Jorge Pereira Morango commenting on the Charlotte Dujardin controversy gets my wholehearted support.....
In law, there is such a thing as a "Statute of Limitations", that absolves a supposed offender after a period of time..... if there have been no other evidences of a similar offense since the videoed incident, then surely the person who revealed this offense should be the real offender, and suitable action MUST be taken against them. As Senor Morango comments, this is evidently an attempt to discredit Ms Dujardin from being a competitive threat.

Most of you will say that what I am doing here is not intelligent but it’s what I feel like doing I have seen the video that was posted in a coward way about a rider that was a star one day and a monster the day after. I need to tell all my clients, colleagues and everyone that I have done similar things with the wipe , I have shouted at my horses and been strict to them YES I have done it Unfortunately none of this that has happened is about horse welfare It’s all politics Low level politics, if there’s any other level. If you want to be like the animal welfare fanatics that are after us, you can look at this picture and say that the horse ears are showing contraction and he seems upset Was it a right thing to do NO !! Do we like to make a horse respect us when he bites or kicks??? I don’t think so
I have done many things to educate my kids that broke my heart but had to be done so that they didn’t become monsters The way this failed society is nowadays with all these welfare people, before looking at animals, look how we are raising them ,the way they treat teachers, parents and older people One thing I hate the most in life is cowards So to the team that will benefit from making UK team weaker in such a coward way last minute hope you feel proud.

IngweNet is about to re-launch the IngweNet Academy for Sustainable Holistic Agriculture, which will prepare Community Trainer / Mentors to return to their communities to develop Community Entrepreneur Growers in their own Permaculture / Organic / Regenerative Farming businesses.

The mentorship program is LIFE-LONG, and IngweNet will market the growers' produce on their behalf, starting at community level and proceeding all the way up to supply major chain outlets with affordable ORGANIC produce.

International Investment Consultants supporting IngweNet's fundraising efforts have persuaded us to prepare an international initiative, citing that the business plan and vision is too important to only support communities in Southern Africa (which is where we'll start).

To become involved, please inbox me for details, stating the level at which you would have the interest.

Your positive thoughts and prayers have produced results temporarily, thank you.....

I have some earning opportunities to take me a few steps forward towards my goals for the Non Profit Company, however, I still need a place to stay where I can charge my phones and get onto my computer to progress forward.

Please turn your thoughts and prayers in this direction for me?

Ideally, any place in the KZN Midlands on a farm or smallholding, so that I can take my horse back under my more experienced care.

I have been offered place on a farm in the Free State, and all that's stopping me from accepting that place is the cost of relocation - about R20,000.00 (equivalent to approx. US$1,250.00, Euro1,150.00, or GBP1,000.00). The conversions are for reference, but if there's anybody looking for a donation opportunity against taxable earnings before the financial year end, please consider this worthwhile cause?

Thank you, and PLEASE SHARE?

HELP PLEASE!!!
My contract in Richmond has ended, it seems I won't be paid, and I need to move by lunchtime.
I have a bakkie load of tools and personal items, and I need storage for them.
Without the payment from this contract, I can't pay upfront, but I'm still negotiating investors and financial partners to move my business interests ahead, and can pay when I receive those funds.
PLEASE SHARE, and please let me know asap???
Thanks, if you read this far......

13/02/2024

Well, there's been no response to my two posts this week, so now I'm looking for someone in the KZN Midlands who will store my belongings in a secure place for a while, and I'll make my own arrangements to live off-grid until I can secure the investments through the channels that are taking time.

I WILL pay for the storage, but in arrears, when the investments are secured and transferred....... and there will be additional benefits down the line also, because I always remember those who have helped me, and even if it takes time, they will be repaid with a lot more than they helped with.

Please let me know if you,, or someone you know, can assist for the next few weeks / month - phone / WhatsApp +27 66 099 2048 or email [email protected].

Thanks......

The KZN Food Aid Fund is an initiative of IngweNet© NPC (a registered Non Profit Company) that is also the legal entity for Fieldwerc Equitation Centre.....

Many thanks to our Strategic Partner, Umgibe Farming Organics and Training Institute, for the donation of food this morning to our KZN Midlands depot!!!

This was the first delivery to either of our depots in the past 2 weeks, and is MUCH needed and appreciated - it will feed 3 families for almost a week, and give another 8 families a bit of extra food also.

PLEASE KEEP SENDING YOUR DONATIONS...... there are still many hungry people who are asking us daily if we can help..... and we can't without your donations.

We have a controlled bank account, audited at 3 levels, that can accept local and international financial donations (of which a MINIMUM of 90% goes back into buying in the food for the hungry). Please contact Wayne (email - [email protected] or WhatsApp +27 72 288 0314) or Marie (email - [email protected] or WhatsApp +27 79 426 6782) and we can send the banking details to you.

Donations of food and basic toiletries are also still needed..... we can try and arrange preferential courier rates on your behalf, if you let us know which company can do a delivery to one of our depots.....

12/06/2021

Fieldwerc Equitation Centre has become a part of the Non Profit Company, IngweNet© NPC, owned by Wayne Lourens, the founder of Fieldwerc Equitation Centre.

Horse riding, for pleasure, sport or work, is an integral part of the IngweNet© Farm and Rural Safety Program.

Horse riders/handlers are in a "high-risk" category in personal safety, and as "soft-targets" for criminal activity. All horse people should consider subscribing to the IngweNet© Farm and Rural Safety Program.

THE INGWENET© FARM AND RURAL SAFETY PROGRAM HAS STARTED!!!
After signing the Co-Operation Agreement to form a Strategic Partnership with Trackvia (the company that includes the South African Community Action Network – SA CAN – and TrackBox Technologies which is a backbone of the SA CAN Support System) on Thursday, the IngweNet© NPC Managing Director, Honorary Dr Wayne “Ingwe” Lourens and his two Co-Directors have declared the IngweNet© Farm and Rural Safety Program ready to be implemented immediately.
IngweNet© NPC, together with their principal Strategic Partner SA CAN, address SAFETY of persons and protection of their property through their combined services. Subscribers to the full package offered will receive support for any emergency of ANY kind through a 1-touch emergency button on their cellphone, which is available wherever they are in South Africa, in town OR country.
This button is connected to the IngweNet© NPC “Emergency Response and Prevention Centre” (“ERPC”) Cellphone App that is hosted at the SA CAN Control Centre, which has nearly 20 years of experience supporting their subscribers with trained call centre staff.
IngweNet© NPC’s role in the partnership is to DEVELOP community support structures at local levels (neighbours-helping-neighbours), to ADVISE and TRAIN their Subscribers on PREVENTATIVE SAFETY MEASURES, to LIAISE with Farmers Unions, Landowners Associations, and other support services for rural residents, and to COORDINATE community support structures between their neighbouring community structures (where necessary) and between official structures.
In the future, IngweNet© NPC will revive the functions of it’s predecessor Trust, the IngweNet© People Empowerment and Sustainable Community Development Trust, in addressing ALL facets of community life, from pre-natal to post-death.
A priority will be to establish, in collaboration with other Strategic Partners, small-scale and urban / peri-urban Food Production “gardens and “Food Forests” at community level, which will feed families and have surplus to earn them an income through the local marketing of their produce and downstream industries and support services – thereby creating strong local economies in each community.
In the field of People Empowerment, IngweNet© NPC will address the socio-economic needs of communities in conjunction with their local community representatives.
With this holistic approach, the chances are that petty crime due to poverty will decrease, and take the burden off the swamped judicial system.
If you live anywhere in South Africa (in any town OR country area) and have any concerns about your personal safety or the protection of your property or belongings, the Directors of IngweNet© NPC invite you to subscribe to the Program. There is a nominal annual subscription fee which should be affordable to everyone – this fee covers administration costs to maintain the IngweNet© NPC Farm and Rural Safety Program Database and provide the PRE-EMPTIVE support services to our subscribers.
The LINK to download the Subscribers Application Form is attached below for you to download and fill in, and to email it back to IngweNet© NPC. Details of the Subscription Terms and Benefits can be found on that form.
Subscribers will also receive a FREE copy of the IngweNet© Farm and Rural Safety eBook.

With regard to the post on 28th December 2020 about the proposed name change, I've had NO responses, which means that, after 4 weeks, by tacit approval, I have carte blanche to change the name.....

My decision is therefore that it will be called "FieldWERC Equitation Centre", linking to the new Online Initiatives I launched just over 2 weeks ago.

Please visit the WERC WE Riding Centre page ("https://www.facebook.com/wercinternational/") and the WERC WE Riding Centre Website ("https://ingwenet.wixsite.com/werc"), to see for yourself why this link is appropriate.....

Working Equitation Riding Centre (WERC) is a Non-Profit Organisation, an initiative of the IngweNet Trust, which is a part of the Kings Kids Trust, Reg. No. CK 98 41327/23.

THE TIME HAS COME!!!

Three of the original people who helped to start Working Equitation in South Africa - Prof. Cheryl McCrindle, Jonathan Harrison, and Glenn Leo-Smith - approached me near the end of last year to ask me to revive Working Equitation in KwaZulu-Natal, and I agreed, with some conditions.

Those conditions will soon be fulfilled, and so Working Equitation in KZN will soon be re-launched. The former KZN Working Equitation Association (KZN WEA) Members have been emailed to advise them of this development, and now it is becoming more public.

When KZN WEA was disbanded, we were asked to at least replace it with something similar, and Fieldwork Equitation was born, as a TRAINING METHOD that people could use to get prepared for Working Equitation competitions.

With this in mind, some radical changes to the way we are doing things had to be made, because of the lockdowns associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, which has all but killed equestrian sport as we know it in South Africa.

The Club behind KZN WEA , WERC KZN, was suspended, but never removed from the SAEF Clubs list, and this Club has now also been revived, under the name of WERC WE Riding Centre.

The ALL NEW WERC WE Riding Centre is now OFFICIALLY launched, with some GREAT NEW INNOVATIONS!!!

What is great, and what is new?

Well, for the past 2 years, I have been working on a technology facility to help Working Equitation in South Africa......

And then came Covid-19......

And then came Covid-19 "Second Wave".....

And the TECHNOLOGY started falling into place, and so, WERC WE ONLINE was enabled!!!

Check out the brand-new WERC WE Riding Centre Website (https://ingwenet.wixsite.com/werc) and look for the ONLINE EVENTS Page (https://ingwenet.wixsite.com/werc/online-events).

WERC looks forward to seeing you on board!

Because the Covid-19 pandemic and the hype and lockdowns that have caused governments to go into knee-jerk reactions, and use Covid as an excuse to manipulate people once again, the life we once knew at the beginning of 2020 will take a long time to be restored.

28/12/2020

With the increasing number of "likes" that have nothing to do with an interest in horsemanship, and taking a lot of admin time to remove, a change in name looks as though its overdue.

I think that a Facebook search on the word "work" is the culprit, and job-seekers are taking the chance and clicking "Like".

To avoid this, I propose that we have a name change ......

Possible suggestions are:

1. Fieldwerck Equitation Centre; or

2. Fieldworx Equitation Centre.

However, suggestions are welcome.

Please post your alternative suggestions here and we can then get your public opinion on a suitable spelling for the name.

I can't set up a poll here for some reason, but we can do it by each of you posting an answer and the majority count will on a name will become the new Page name.

Once the Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed, another trip to the Western Cape is definitely on.
I will continue to help Overberg Equestrian Federation to develop Fieldwork Equitation on that trip, and have a trip to Saldhana being planned at the same time.
Should any other yards in the Western Cape wish to have presentations and/or workshops in this Working Horse training program, please contact me. If we can visit you as a part of the scheduled trip, costs to everyone will be reduced.

Somebody requested a cancellation of this Page on Facebook - it was not me, now the SOLE Admin of this group....... everyone is advised that Fieldwork Equitation Centre will continue to be a viable entity without a specific physical location, and will be based wherever I am.

30/07/2020

Due to changing circumstances, Fieldwork Equitation Centre will be relocating in the very near future - please watch this space.......

19/02/2020

Hi everyone, because of changing circumstances, and in particular the Government proposal to give the Minister of Sports and Recreation sweeping powers to govern the management of sport in South Africa (right down to Club level), I have decided to change the name of our Page to more accurately reflect what our core focus has become over the past 8 months.

Regarding the change of Page name, if you have another suggestion, please post it as a reply to this post, and a poll of those suggestions will be created for a majority decision to be made.

You may also have been aware that WERC KZN closed as a Club at the end of last year, as it was accumulating bank fees without sufficient financial support from Training Events to keep it sustainable. Expenses in holding events were also escalating beyond the reasonable parameters within which affordability for participants was established. In this respect, there is no longer any official connection with any other organised equestrian body in South Africa.

Because we have invested in what is probably the best equipment for Fieldwork Equitation in South Africa at present, and because our goal is to take the WELFARE of the HORSE, RIDER, and everybody involved with equestrian sport to an updated higher level of understanding and ability to "work" more comfortably, we have decided that I (Wayne) will continue to support those who have given their interest to our version of the Working Horsemanship "sport", while Kathy (Kat) continues her advanced studies in the Straightness Training Mastery program. I am also still a Straightness Training student, and will be for life, but on the Mastery Entry Level program.

Recently a need was established for Fieldwork Equitation to spread further afield (my recent trip to the Overberg area of the Western Cape is an example), because the managers of other organisatons involved in developing a Working sport are not complying with the standards of common Codes of Conduct, and are ill-treating and abusing the managers of groups looking to include a Working Riding activity in their sports, with threatening emails and social media correspondence. When their actions were originally reported, the leadership of the discipline concerned opted to take no action, and their disreputable actions have just escalated.

But that is past history, and Fieldwork Equitation was given the opportunity to be born out of the need to continue proper, civil, and positive support to the Working Riding communities.

To fill the vacuum created with the skills that Kat and I have accumulated over half a lifetime of riding, as a co-Founder of Fieldwork Equitation South Africa, I will be available to continue to support those interested in Working Riding with multi-faceted training, with Kat providing her valuable insight and support in the background.

Because of changing circumstances in our personal lives, Kat and I have had to scale down drastically on the amount of investment that we previously put into developing Working Riding as a sport in South Africa. I am still available to travel. However, the host organisations are being asked to cover the costs involved in travelling, transport, and accommodation for their training event. For this type of event, I do not charge ANYTHING for my time.

The alternative is for selected coaches/trainers/organisers to travel to our Centre, where we have some comfortable facilities in our self-catering holiday-let accommodation, some stabling, and of course, good indoor and outdoor riding arenas, and every other facility to be able to present a professional-quality set of training courses.

As we continually mention, we are here to provide an AFFORDABLE option to allow horse riders to increase their knowledge and abilities in this training method. This Centre will not be run on a commercial paradigm, as long as costs are covered.

Being a Training method, Fieldwork Equiation has NO RULES, but does list guidelines which are monitored regarding the safety and welfare of horses, riders, supporters, and any stock used in the training. The standards of our guidelines exceed those of any other international equestrian sport, because the FULL essence of welfare has yet to be exercised for the benefit of all, which includes allowing animals and humans to have stress-free fun.

In closing, I hope that FEC, Kat, and myself, will continue to have your support in the future.
