I have been enjoying graphic design well before I even studied it in school. I was 16 and a coworker from a mall shop I worked at gave me a copy of Adobe Photoshop. I believe it was version "7.0" back then. Now I'm using Creative Suite 5! I am most definitely a crafty person. I am constantly thinking of how I can repurpose items as well as salvage materials for my handmade cards. Both of my parent
s are amazing artists. My mother is kind of a "jack of all trades" (I like to think I take after her). My dad is a master craftsman and amazing mechanic. Both of my parents can paint really well too! We are just a well-rounded family, if you will. Needless to say, my creativity has never stopped. Things I'm obsessed with:
typography
paper
textures
my dogs & rabbit
popcorn
learning new trades of the craft
gardening
In college, I teetered back and forth on majors. At 18, I went into school thinking, no doubt, ART. I then found out how hard it is to make it financially in the industry.... I switched to "undecided". After awhile of figuring out who I was, I decided to go back to graphic design and advertising. I was in the UGA Lamar Dodd Art School as well as Grady School of Mass Communication & Journalism. After 5.5 years of college, I officially graduated with a degree in Advertising. I prefer to call it "Advertising Design". I now work full-time from home as head graphic designer for an automotive advertising company. More and more in my spare time, I am doing the FUN STUFF. Invitations, local advertising, announcements, etc. I'm more than set in the digital/electronics world, so right now all the extra money I make on the side is going to tools and supplies. I am currently the PROUD new owner of a die cut and embossing machine. I very much like to combine the digital world with the handmade world. I want to make sure that every little thing I produce is all from my blood, sweat, and tears (figuratively speaking, of course :). Since I moved from the big city of Atlanta, living in the mountains has been a dream come true. It's such a small town and the level of hospitality and trust is out of this world. It being such a small town, word of mouth travels quickly --- this has been GREAT for me! Within a few months, I have gotten so much business and I couldn't be more grateful to God. My life is finally where I want it. I look forward to the future and where my creativity can take me.
