It was so good to get back to Westfield State University today - for the first time in well over a year! Lexi and her mom, Andi found a yard sign with a picture of Lexi, visiting the college when she was a much younger pup!

Great to see CLC dogs back. WE will be together as long as no rain. If it is raining, the building is still closed. The dogs were glad to see each other. This guy was just hanging around.

Beware of dog parks, many unruly, untrained, unfriendly dogs are there. They can traumatize your dog when a gang of them come over to your dog, even being friendly. If you must go, do it when park is about empty.

Fights happen all the time in dog parks, which is why I don't recommend using them and don't agree with public funds being used to build them.

They are concentrated areas of risk for your dog and yourself on every front; for disease, physical injury, and psychological trauma.

I was informed by 2 of my obedience students tonight, that their dogs have been attacked by bears. One in Montgomery and the other in Blandford. Their dogs have the scars to prove it. So, just a warning to watch your dogs and be careful.

As of February 12th, Canine Learning Center will be changing locations. We have enjoyed our time at The Daily Grind and they have been happy with us but, they are redoing "our" room and would rather not have the dogs because they will be serving food. Our new location will be at The Moose Lodge on Washington St in Westfield. Same street as the police station and across the street from Emma's restaurant. Same day, Tuesday, and same time for classes.

Posted today by a friend of mine who is a vet in CT. Felt it needed to be shared! "Ugh! People are literally killing their dogs from dilated cardiomyopathy with foods from companies like Acana, Fromm, 4Health, Zignature, etc that have no veterinary nutritionists on staff and do little research other than marketing on what sells their expensive food and then when presented with the evidence of what is causing concern still won't listen. Stupid arguments: it is expensive so it must be good food, fresh meat is better than meat meal (it is by weight and fresh meat is mostly water!!!!), by product meal is bad (NO!!!! it includes the very nutritious organ meat and such....these same people probably avoid by products in food and then give tracheas, hearts, lungs, bully sticks as treats....in other words nutritious by products!!). So frustrating when dogs are dying over this. Sigh. Rant over."
