Hello friends!
I want to introduce y’all to our newest foster… sweet little Amora.
Amora’s story with us started with a simple text from Jamie: “Hey… would you be willing to take in a very sick puppy?” ADL wanted to pull her and give her a fighting chance—but they needed a foster home willing to take on a tough medical case.
After seeing a short video of her and having an honest conversation about the very real possibility that she might not make it… I said yes.
Once she was safely at ADL, their incredible veterinary team diagnosed her with megaesophagus and aspiration pneumonia. As fate would have it, I already had experience with both (thank you, Rogue and Jax for preparing me for this), which made me the right person for Amora’s care.
Those first few days were tough—really tough. She was so weak she could barely stand for more than a few seconds. We did tiny feedings with her sitting upright, followed by 15 minutes of holding her upright… then straight into nebulizer treatments. There were meds, sub-q fluids, antibiotics—the works.
But through it all, Amora never stopped fighting. 🩷
Now here we are, Day 10, and I can hardly believe the difference. She’s walking more steadily, following me around the house, eating like a champ, starting to play with toys… and even throwing a little sass my way when she’s not happy about something. 😆
We’re definitely not out of the woods yet, but seeing her spirit shine through has been amazing. I’m so proud to foster for an organization like ADL, who doesn’t give up on animals like Amora. They believe every life is worth fighting for—and I couldn’t agree more.
Stay tuned for more Amora updates… this girl is just getting started. 💖🐶
