Sweet Animal Defense League of Texas foster pup, Swimming is an excellent lap warmer!!! She is looking for her forever home and forever lap! Swim has really come out of her shell during her stay with us - she loves a good squeaky toy, all the snacks, trying to make the cats her friend and a game of tug or wrestling with Charlie & Rogue. Swimming would do best in a house with another dog to show her the ropes and keep her company.

It’s National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to honor the dedicated ADL staff who make our mission possible every single day! Our various teams work tirelessly to care for in-need pets, helping them stay healthy, happy, and ready for loving homes!❤️✨

Each morning, our Pet Service Specialists start their day ensuring every pet is cared for with the highest level of attention. They provide fresh food and water, take pets out for much-needed walks, and offer personalized love and care along the way. They roll up their sleeves to wash bedding, scrub kennels from top to bottom, clean litter boxes, sweep, mop, and sanitize—all before 11:00 am!

Once the doors open, our Adoption Center team warmly greets visitors, answers calls, finalizes adoptions, and educates the community. As the welcoming face of ADL, their dedication is essential to keeping our mission strong! With the help of our Outreach Coordinator, we’re also able to bring adoption events into the community, connecting even more pets with loving families.

In our hospital, our team ensures each pet is healthy and ready for a fresh start. From routine check-ups to complex surgeries, they handle every medical need with compassion. They perform spay/neuter surgeries, administer vaccines, and provide microchips, preparing every pet in our care for adoption! This team supports our foster program by offering guidance to foster families and building strong, supportive relationships. Their commitment and hard work are the backbone of our pets’ health, giving each one the best chance at a happy, healthy future!

Behind the scenes, our Marketing & Development, Volunteer, Finance, Maintenance, and Leadership teams work tirelessly to keep ADL running smoothly. Each department plays a vital role in ensuring our operations flow, allowing every pet the best chance at finding a forever home.

Our staff's compassion and commitment are the heart of ADL. Together, we make it possible to bring thousands of pets and families together each year. Thank you, ADL team... you are all truly amazing!❤️

Jax’s mom here and I usually do a Facebook fundraiser for my birthday to help one of my favorite animal causes and this year I’m doing it just a little differently. One of my favorite dogs of all time, Grizzley the Giant Bear is running for El Rey Fido and all of the money he raises goes directly to the San Antonio Humane Society to care for the dogs and cats in their care.

Y’all may remember that Jax was adopted from SAHS so as we approach the one year anniversary of losing him, it would mean a great deal to me to help raise some funds in his memory.

The big dogs went to school today so Animal Defense League of Texas foster pup, Swimming snuggled up with our resident old man & veteran puppy raiser, Morpheus on the couch.
