Clarifying some information about Oodles of Noodles: Doors open at 5 PM. Tickets are sold in the lobby. Tickets are $25 which gives you dinner and two bingo cards. Additional bingo cards and raffle tickets are available throughout the evening. Upon purchasing your ticket, you will receive a bracelet which will allow you to enter the dining room. No bracelet; no entry. Children are not permitted at this event. Dogs are not permitted. There is plenty of parking behind the Scottish Rite facility. You must be present to win your raffle item. Some raffle items require a $5 raffle ticket, others require a $2 ticket. There will be agendas and other information on every table. We will try to stick to the agenda (yeah, right). There will be volunteers circulating the dining room and selling additional bingo cards and raffle tickets. The bar is a cash/card only bar. There will be a lot going on and we hope you bring your patience with you.

Update on the "Beagle Brigade" pup:

Obi is living his best life. We are so lucky to have him. He is such a sweet heart. Loves to cuddle. Multiple daily zoomies, great on walks, and is learning faster than I thought possible for a dog his age. He has an appointent 9/6 for the dreaded, but necessary surgery. Thank you again for everything.

Poor Leo, what a rough life!

Dear Salem Dogs,

I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share some wonderful updates about Leo, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog we adopted in November 2023. He is truly flourishing in our home and has become an irreplaceable member of our family.

From the moment he arrived, Leo has shown us just how full of personality he is. His intelligence shines through every day, as he has developed a remarkable ability to communicate his wants and needs with us. It's quite heartwarming to see how he has us wrapped around his little paws; how can we resist his charm? We've been using positive reinforcement, redirection, and consistency, which have worked wonders in helping him adjust and grow.

Like any new family member, he challenged us a few times in the beginning with some aggressive behavior that didn’t quite fit the situations, but thankfully those days are now behind us. Leo has made it clear that he no longer wants to be that dog. Instead, he has blossomed into such a loving, affectionate, and trusting companion. It’s clear he aims to please us, and we are more than happy to return all the love he gives.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our beloved 14-year-old mini Aussie, Aussie, due to his declining quality of life. It was a tough decision, but we knew it was the right one for him. In his memory, we recently welcomed a new Cavalier named Mei into our pack. Our current pack consists of three cavaliers Bella, Leo, and Mei. I’m so happy to report that Leo has welcomed her with open paws! It warms my heart to see them napping together and sharing moments of joy. Plus, we are thrilled that they can share food without any signs of aggression from Leo.

We want to extend our most heartfelt thanks for allowing us to adopt Leo. He has truly brought so much joy, love, and happiness into our lives, and we can’t imagine our home without him.

Looking forward to sharing more updates soon!

Warm regards,

Brenda and Len Malmquist

Keep the updates coming!!

Hi Diane,

Wanted to let you know Zoey is doing great, including with my cats. Turns out she was scared of them!

Anyway, here she is enjoying our annual camping trip to the Oregon Dunes. She’s the best Velcro dog I know and fits right into our family.

Thanks for all you do!

Annual reminder about this potentially fatal condition. You may be able to save your pet if you recognize the symptoms. Please read up on gastro dilation-volvulus (GVD) and don't assume it will never happen to your loved one. There are breeds of dogs that are more susceptible to bloat but it can happen to a dog not on that list.

Lefty in camera-shy mom's lap and his new bestie Ayra. Wishing them the best together. Very cool story--SD dogs adopted by families three homes in a row in Salem. First Penny, then Buster, now Lefty. All neighbors. Taking aim on the rest of the street!

Remember Buster from last month? Last night he made his stage debut for the musical Oliver!.

The entire cast and crew did an amazing job. And I have to say, the amphitheater down at the Riverfront is quite magical on a summer's eve.

Oliver! will continue for the next three Tuesdays in August at the Amphitheater in Riverfront Park. Add it to your calendar for some "out-of-the-box summer fun."

Our little guy has been spoken for. "Buddy has left the building!"

Here is Buddy doing the "Elvis sneer." So cute! He is 4 yeas old and weighs 10 pounds. Likes kids, other dogs his size, not sure about cats. Loves riding in the car and watching out the window. A little bashful for about 15 seconds, then warms up. He loves to play and would make a great companion for another playful dog. For information on how to adopt Buddy, please contact [email protected] and tell us about yourself, family, home, yard, fence, other pets, work situation and provide a vet reference if you have one. Please share and let's get Buddy into his new home soon.

Daisy found her forever home (David and Arlene) and now she has two sisters. Here are Molly on the ground, Daisy on the left lap and Winnie on the right. Winnie also came from Salem Dogs and was Patty in her previous life. They are all three living their best life in Salem and are very much loved with a beautiful fenced yard and lots of treats and beds to choose from.

Meet Buster, one of the stars in Chemeketa's "Oliver! Theatre Under the Stars," production, every Tuesday night in August at Riverfront Park. This 7-year-old Boston Terrier, with his charismatic personality and expressive ears, caught the eye of "Oliver!" producer Stephen, earning him the role of Bullseye, Bill Sikes' loyal bulldog. Rescued as a stray in Marion County, Buster underwent surgery for a perineal hernia and has since thrived in the care of his loving family, Hank, and Janice. When he's not performing, Buster loves walks, car rides, and sunbathing by the window.

Continuing our "Stray to Star" story: Buster had a photo shoot with Pet Photographer Terri Jacobson. Pictures to be used to help promote his play "Oliver." Notice we say "his" play. On Sunday evening he will be at his first rehearsal to get to know the stage and where his "marks" are. Not to be confused with marking. He already has a huge fan club and will be signing pawtographs after each performance.

This boy has left the building!

"I ain't nuthin' but a Hound Dog!" When he was 8 weeks old, he looked like a Beagle. Now, at 4 months he looks more like a Foxhound. Jacobi will probably max out at around 45 lbs. (yeah, right!). He is about 30 lbs. now. He (and the rest of his litter) is affectionate, playful, good with other dogs, cats, kids, etc. A bit shy with strangers at first, he is quick to warm up. He is vaccinated and has a date for neutering. For more information on how to adopt Jacobi, send a note to [email protected] and tell us about yourself, family, home, yard, fence, other pets, working situation and a vet reference. Only notes containing this information will receive a response. Please share.
