Recently, we have been touched by several heartfelt donations in memory of dogs who have crossed the rainbow bridge. While we extend our deepest condolences to their families during this difficult time of losing a cherished companion, we also want to express our heartfelt gratitude for their generosity in sharing their love and support with our foster dogs.

Gidget - Adopted

Gidget has faced some challenges with her deformed foot. She and her team have worked hard in physiotherapy to get ready for her surgery, which helped set her up to start a new chapter in her life without worries. Her loyal dog friend, Zeke, has been her steadfast companion throughout this journey, providing all the support she needs. Gidget is surrounded by so much love from her family, and it truly shows! Happy Gotcha Day Gidgie!

Endoscopic surgery went well and Pogo is ready to be released.

1. Carmen is thrilled to have ditched the cone of shame. Her eye has healed up and she’s ready for action. Medical hold.

2. Thankfully Pogo has been stable enough for several tests today and the emergency team feel that the needle is lodged in his gastric wall. He will go for surgery tonight and should be home in time for Santa Paws. Please keep the good vibes coming. Medical Hold.

3. Winston is awaiting a booking for a CT scan prior to further plans for possible surgery. He continues to work on learning commands and making new friends at daycare. Medical Hold.

4. Kye hopes everyone has a happy and sparkly day! Medical Hold.

5. Jolt has been wooing the ladies at the vet clinic with how healthy he looks now. They are so excited about the 1.5 lbs he has gained (he is a whole 4 lbs now)! His foster mom wishes someone would tell her to gain weight....Medical Hold.

6. Celine is a long legged beauty that has a curiosity for everything and everyone. Adoptable.

7. Sass is the second smallest and it’s no wonder. She’d rather play than eat! Here she is with a toy, waiting for a litter mate to try and get it so they’ll chase her. Adoptable.

8. Maya had her peepers checked this week. Our hope is to keep the eye with glaucoma from worsening so that she has time to grow a little before having it removed. New eyedrops will hopefully do the trick. Medical Hold.

9. Dion loves a fuzzy slipper to chew on! Adoptable.

10. Joni is peeking at her big brother wondering if she can get a nibble on that bone that’s almost as big as her. Medical Hold.

11. Gidgie loves to steal the Christmas gnome . How can you resist those eyes?? This sweet baby girl is doing amazing as a tripod. Going for regular walks now and can keep up to her brother! We are continuing with rehab exercises but otherwise she has a clean bill of health. We love this little girl so much Applications Closed.

12. Ray has quickly accumulated a fan club as well as a huge wardrobe assortment. He can’t wait to model all his new outfits. Evaluation Hold.

13. Jasper is all snuggled up after having his neuter surgery today. He is still a little groggy but enjoyed a little dinner! Medical Hold.

14. Cinder is in full recovery mode this week after his neuter and dental. He is doing so well. Enjoying lots of fresh air while he heals. Next to a lap, probably his favourite spot. Medical Hold.

15. Mitchell taking time out of his play to pose. He couldn’t stop wagging that tail though! Adoptable.

16. Jordan is rocking the one ear up look. Still so very handsome! Adoptable.

17. Sandy had a great week. Her housetraining is really starting to click, and she’s making fantastic progress. She also enjoyed a lovely nature walk around a lake, with lots of sniffing time. Medical Hold.

18. Minnie had an acupuncture and laser session and feels a little better so she’s getting in a little play time before the big snow. Medical Hold.

20. Ben developed some itchy patches and has been getting daily topical skin treatments - he is not a fan! He is wishing fellow Misfits and all the other wonderful MMDR supporters a very happy holidays! Medical Hold.

21. Revi is busy sharpening his teeth in case Santa brings him any stuffies that need to be un-stuffed. He has his booster vaccination next week. Medical Hold.

22. Marshall keeps working out so he is ready to go when he finds his forever family! Adoptable.

23. After an unexpected and scary couple days, Thorn is back home and feeling much more himself! He is on a few new meds and a new diet while we give his belly time to fully heal. Evaluation Hold.

Ariel - Adopted

There's something so heartwarming about a senior embracing a new chapter in life, and today, we celebrate that beautiful journey! As Ariel curls up in her cozy new bed, she prepares to weather the impending storm with a sense of peace and comfort. This sweet lady has finally discovered her retirement haven, a place where she can truly bask in the lap of luxury!

We seem to be asking this often, thankfully all your incredible love works miracles 😔 Please send healing thoughts to Pogo, who was rushed to emergency last night after ingesting a small needle. We are waiting for news on the best course of action for his treatment.

We are overwhelmed with the support and love we have received today for Thorn. It's working!!! His ultrasound detected a gastric upset but his most recent update is that he is eating and drinking and has been getting more and more active over the day. Everyone loves him at the clinic and they'll keep him one more night for extra snuggles and a close eye with a plan of being released tomorrow. Thank you!

If it isn't too much to ask, little Cinder could use some love too. He had his neuter today and had many retained baby teeth removed to ensure that he has better dental hygiene in the future. He did great and even got this stylish suit to wear home.

Ray Charles - Evaluation Hold

This captivating ray of sunshine is our newest cherished guest. Meet Ray Charles, a 16-year-old Chinese Crested who found himself longing for a tender place to call home. How beautiful that we had just the perfect nook waiting for him! It took mere moments for Ray to fluff up his bed and settle into a warm and cozy retreat. This sweet soul will have his medical check up soon.

Today, we ask for your love and light as we send healing thoughts to Thorn. He has been at the emergency clinic since yesterday, battling lethargy, low blood pressure, vomiting, GI upset, and a chilling low temperature. Despite the many tests that have been run, we're still searching for answers. This morning, he will undergo a diagnostic ultrasound, and we hope that it will illuminate the path to a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan that will bring him back to us.

Jordan…He’s a low key boy….very chill. Although he’s unique in looks, he blends in well with the pack.

All our puppies have had a thorough health check and are up to date with their first and second core vaccinations. Just a couple of things to keep in mind for adoption:

- The new family will be responsible for the third core vaccine and the rabies vaccination.
- You'll need to schedule spay/neuter surgery for your puppy before they are 7 months old.

Dion…We think he has a competition with Mitchell to see who can grow the fastest. We fear Dion is losing the battle! He makes little noises when he sleeps, and others pile on top of him to comfort him

Mitchell…the big man. But so gentle with the others. All the boys are good with eating, but he usually finishes first.

1. Kye would like someone to help her open the rest of her calendar. She knows there are more cookies in it! Medical Hold.

2. A little birdie told Minnie she is going to be spayed in the New Year. Medical Hold.

3. Jasper loves his foster brother Rascal. He is always cuddling up with him… Rascal doesn’t seem to mind. Jasper is not a fan of rain or snow, and loves being under the covers. Medical Hold.

4. Ariel is getting into the holidays with her new sweater. Adoptable.

5. A cone won’t ruin Carmen’s fun. This little firecracker is up for anything! She has an appointment next week to check out her little peepers. Medical Hold.

6. Marshall a.k.a. Slim Shady, has so far been a good boy with the Christmas tree. Even though he’s rocking his grinch Christmas pyjamas right now! Adoptable.

7. No leaf is safe from Revi’s stellar hunting skills. He is finally gaining some weight and has a health recheck before the holidays. Medical Hold.

8. Winston had such exciting news, he wanted to share it with all his friends. We think we have found a surgeon in Portland, Maine willing to do the surgery he needs to try to repair his PRAA and megaesophagus. So there will be a big road trip on the books for this boy in the new year. Medical Hold.

9. Ben heard some guy named Santa might be stopping by! While he’s a big sweet boy, he certainly takes the role of watch dog seriously and gets quite excited when visitors arrive. We wonder if Santa will be brave enough to drop off gifts - if so, he will be rewarded with a request for belly rubs and an invitation to play some rope tug. Medical Hold.

10. Cinders bio would definitely include being dog and cat friendly. He is doing very well, always up for an adventure. Keep Cinder in your thoughts, Monday is the big day for his dental and neuter. Seems like a lot for such a tiny guy! Medical Hold.

11. Thorns visit to the vet last week showed that the abnormalities in his throat had fully cleared up! He is not a fan of the wind and rain, so he's been staying tucked in his cozy bed this week. Evaluation Hold.

12. Gidgie out today for her first “real” walk since her surgery and she is as fast as ever! She saw the rehab vet yesterday and she still has some work to do on her stance and spine to correct, but overall she is doing amazing!! She loves to get some retail therapy after her appointments! Applications Closed.

13. Toto was very brave for her second vet visit- had blood word, microchip and first vaccine. Dr Brosha said she was a trooper - no problems at all. Being in a crate still worries her somewhat, but she was a good girl. Medical Hold.

14.Pogo's healthcare journey continues. His specialist vet is recommending a neurological consult be done to determine if his issues are caused by issues with his spine. A CT may also be warranted to help us sort out what's going on with him. In the meantime, Pogo is on the look out for Santa as he has been the best boy this year. Medical Hold.

15. It’s been a rainy week, so Sandy has been enjoying plenty of cozy naps, in between play time with with her foster sister. Medical Hold.

23. Jolt had a great week....he went to a holiday party where he was the perfect guest and entertained all! His most recent bloodwork came back great so he has his first vaccines, and he learned to use steps! Medical Hold.

Our Story

Misfit Manor Dog Rescue Society (MMDRS) is an all breed, all age dog rescue primarily focused on assisting special needs dogs in Nova Scotia. Our Board of Directors and volunteers are comprised of people who share a passion for the often overlooked rescue cases. MMDRS is committed to remaining small in terms of intake in order to fully understand the needs of each individual dog, and thoroughly assess, evaluate and rehabilitate those in care. With a focus on special needs cases, the assessment process is vital to the successful placement of Misfit Manor dogs in forever homes that have completed a multistage application and screening process.

Misfit Manor Dog Rescue Society recognizes that when rescues work together they can achieve more substantial goals and help more animals. We are committed to working with other reputable rescues whenever possible to improve the situation of all dogs in need.
