I really did try to stick to my decision not to buy another Koi, at the South African National Koi Show in Durban, but Shiro Utsuri is my weakness, and when I seen and heard its pedigree is Omosako and male in breeding condition I lost all control and failed miserably.
Purchased from Koi Jungle, Let’s see what he can produce this breeding season.

Spring is in the air, looking forward to a new breeding season.
Hoping this Pongoi Koi bred Male, Shiro Utsiri when harvest in September ticks all the boxes for using in our breeding programm.

We have a wide selection of Jumbo Tosai that weren't purchased in our Autumn sale and will be two year old in December. Looking forward to seeing how they have developed when we harvest them in September.

I was asked what variety of Koi is your favourite, I replied, I like all koi varieties but Shiro Utsuri is my number one love.
Probably my favourite shiro and maybe the best in any variety that we have spawned and raised is this shiro
The video was taken in 2019 she was still Tosai under 2 years old.
I wonder where she is now.

South African breeders over the years have strived to establish quality Koi for our home market, comparable with Japanese imports, this concept has been proven by South African breeders winning at Koi shows, competing against imports best.

One such breeder is “Jakoi’ in Welkom, run by Jaco Vorster, like many of us he is breeding with Japanese bloodline breeding stock and producing go-Sanke equivalent to the best imports.

The male below is “37 cm Tosai Sanke” he was purchased by Pongoi Koi this year from Jaco to improve our own breeding stock.
Its Mother is from Shintaro Koi farm who uses “Sakai Matsunosuke” blood line, the father is from Momotaro Koi farm, with that Japanese pedigree we are looking forward to the breeding season this October.

Its time the South African breeders come together and gets formalized and recognised by local retail industry outlets and seen as suppliers of quality Koi, as there are benefits in supporting each other, which ultimately get passed on to the consumer…

At our April sale weekend this year we offered this Pongoi Koi bred Tosai Showa for sale but it didn't find a good home.
Now it has developed intense coloration in all aspects and growing +- 40 cm it will be two years in November.
The down side is it isn't the same price as
April 😃😂😂😜.

Going through our stock, that is still available I found this pair of 45 cm +- Shiro Utsuri from our own breeding programme.
The male I feel shows potential for show quality in the future,' so I have upgraded him for breeding this year, hope he produces young like him.
