Something exciting for 2025 🤩

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Working Equitation clinic at 5th Avenue.

Working Equitation is an exciting equestrian discipline that combines skill, precision, and partnership between horse and rider. It is designed to highlight the skill and harmony between horse and rider. Originating in countries like Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy, it was created to preserve and showcase the abilities required for practical work on horseback while promoting the training and versatility of horses.

It features two thrilling phases:
1. Dressage Phase: A showcase of harmony and technical excellence, where riders perform a series of set movements with precision and elegance.
2. Ease of Handling (Obstacles) Phase: A dynamic challenge where horse and rider navigate obstacles like gates, bridges, and poles, simulating practical working scenarios with agility and finesse.

The East Rand Working Equitation Series, one of the well-attended show series in South Africa, attracts riders of all levels, offering an atmosphere of friendly competition and fun. It’s not only a test of skills but also a celebration of the unique bond between horse and rider, making it an incredibly fulfilling experience for everyone involved.

Get to know the guys who take care of our horses day in and day out.

Libion

Libion Has been working with horses for 10 yrs now. Libion started working with Lauren, and says he wouldn't want to work for anyone else.

He has completed his qualifications over the years over a few courses, and passed his last test with a percentage of 92.5.
He loves to watch both showjumping and dressage. Has even helped out at SANESA with course walks when instructors are running around.
He has ridden once before in 2017 on Victory but says he doesn't wants ride again because he is scared to fall off

Favorite horse and why?
Libion says he loves all the horses but he has two favorites which are Secret keeper & Savanah because they both listen to him and are well behaved.

Peter

Peter has been working with horses for 6 years now, he started his venture with horses with Lauren.

He has completed his qualifications over the years and passed his last test with 88%
He prefers showjumping to dressage but enjoys the turnout and seeing the result of how stunning the horses look once he is done.

Peter has ridden once before a long time ago on the famous Mr King and says he would like to start learning how to ride again.
Favorite horse and why?
Peter says even though he dislocated my shoulder my favorite horse would be Damascus mainly because he is so beautiful and is always full of life every day is something new.

Walter

Walter is one of the newest members of the 5th Ave family and has only been working with horses for 7 months now, he started with Lauren.

He has already completed his qualifications with an incredible result of 89% on his test.
Walter said he loves to watch both showjumping and dressage but likes jumping more as leaves him buzzing, but if he rides he prefers dressage because he is scared of falling off.
Walter has ridden a few horses with us and loves learning, he has ridden the following horses County, Ziggi, Ideal day, William, George and Flowerman. He said favorite to ride was definitely William.
Favorite horses and why?
Walter loves every horse with his whole heart and gets very attached he is an extremely caring person, his answer to my question was County was one of my favorites because she was the first horse I ever rode but now I love Adjoa as she always keeps me alert and on my toes you can never lose concentration around her.
