This handsome boy is a 2-year-old Border Collie / German Shepherd cross who is ready to find his forever home! ❤️

Junior was sadly surrendered to us. He’s full of love, playful energy, and always ready for a tasty treat. 🍖 He’s still learning to walk confidently on a leash, but with a little patience and love, he’ll be your perfect walking buddy in no time.

Junior would love a family who will give him the attention and affection he deserves. 🐶

This beautiful little kitten was surrendered to us, but her story has the happiest of endings! 💕 The wonderful van Aardt family fell in love with her and welcomed her into their home — where she’s now surrounded by love, cuddles, and endless kisses.

We are so grateful to the van Aardt family for opening their hearts and giving this sweet girl the forever home she deserves. 🏡❤️

These two sweethearts have been with us for a few months, patiently waiting for someone to fall in love with them. 💕 They share a special bond, and we would love for them to be adopted together — but if that’s not possible, they can also be adopted separately.

At 8 months old, they’re full of life and love! 🐶 They were surrendered to us and have been nothing but affectionate and playful since. They walk beautifully on a leash, enjoy playtime, and absolutely adore soaking up every bit of attention they can get.

💔 Can you imagine being tangled in barbed wire, trapped in freezing sewage water, crying for help with no one around?

That’s what this poor girl went through. Cold, scared, and in unbearable pain — yet still holding on to hope.

A kind-hearted member of the public heard her desperate cries coming from a sewage drain and immediately called the Bloemfontein SPCA. Without wasting a second, our team rushed to the scene.

When we found her, she was exhausted, shivering, and in so much pain. We carefully freed her from the barbed wire and wrapped her in a warm blanket — finally giving her the comfort and safety she deserved. 🐾❤️

Back at the SPCA, she received urgent medical care, food, and plenty of love. She’s now safe, warm, and resting peacefully.

To the compassionate person who made that call — thank you for being her voice when she couldn’t speak for herself. 🙏

The Bloemfontein SPCA responded to a call about a stray cat that was stuck high up in a tree. Without any delay, our team attended to the complaint, and upon arrival, we found a scared and nervous cat unable to get down on its own.

Our two brave trainees, Dlamini and Martins, climbed up with a net and safely rescued the cat from the tree. Thanks to their courage and teamwork, the cat was safely brought down and returned to its owner unharmed. ❤️

A big thank you to our dedicated team for always going above and beyond to help animals in need! 🐾💙

🌿 URGENT APPEAL: Green Lucerne Needed! 🌿

The Bloemfontein SPCA is in desperate need of good quality green lucerne for our farm animals.

Many of our animals are currently not in the best condition and would greatly benefit from the nutritional boost that fresh lucerne provides. This high-quality feed would make a real difference to their health and recovery.

If you have lucerne to donate or know where we can source some, please contact us. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and will go directly to helping our animals get back to optimal health.

🌞 Keep Your Dogs Safe This Summer! 🐾

With temperatures on the rise, we want to remind everyone how dangerous it can be to walk or run your dogs during hot weather.

🚫 Avoid walking your dog when it’s warm!
When the temperature climbs above 25°C, it’s already too hot for dogs — especially puppies, older dogs, overweight dogs, and short-nosed breeds (like Bulldogs or Pugs). During high temperatures dogs are at risk of heat exhaustion or heatstroke, which can be fatal.

🔥 Remember:
Surfaces like tar, gravel, and dirt can become much hotter than the air temperature and can cause severe burns and blisters on your dog’s paws.
👉 If you can’t hold your palm on the pavement for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog!

🐕 Tips for Safe Exercise:
• Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.
• Keep walks shorter and more frequent rather than long and intense.
• Always carry fresh water for your dog to drink.
• Be mindful that some dogs simply aren’t fit enough for long distances, no matter the weather.

💨 Dogs regulate heat mainly by panting, and while they do have sweat glands in their paws, it’s not enough to cool them effectively in high temperatures.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe, happy, and healthy this summer! ❤️🐶

🌟 Phomolong Outreach Update 🌟

This past weekend, our team visited Phomolong and were able to make a real difference in the lives of so many animals. ❤️

🐶 104 Dogs received tick and flea treatment, 5-in-1 vaccinations, and rabies vaccinations.

🐱 16 Cats received tick and flea treatment, 3-in-1 vaccinations, and rabies vaccinations.

🏡 21 Dogs and 5 Cats were surrendered to us.

✂️ 46 Dogs and 10 Cats were booked for sterilisation, helping to prevent future unwanted litters.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the National Lottery for making this outreach possible. With your support, we are able to reach and help so many more animals in need.

A big thank you to the community of Phomolong for bringing your animals in for care, and to the dedicated staff of the Bloemfontein SPCA who assisted every step of the way. 💙

🐾 Meet Our Handsome Scottish Terrier! 🐾

This sweet boy came to us as a stray, and while we’re unsure of his exact age, we do know he has a heart full of love to give. 💙

He’s recently been groomed and looks absolutely beautiful — with his charming face and glossy coat, he’s ready to steal hearts! He’s friendly, playful, and full of character. Although he’s not quite ready to walk on a leash yet, with a little love, patience, and encouragement, we’re sure he’ll get there soon.

This little gentleman will need someone committed to regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his absolute best. ✂️🐶

We are reaching out to our amazing supporters — we are desperately in need of pet food donations. Our shelves are almost empty, and we are down to the last of our food supplies for the animals in our care. 💔

We currently have 55 dogs (including 16 playful puppies), 5 cats, and 8 kittens in our care — and these numbers can change daily as new animals arrive needing our help.

🐶 We urgently need:
• Puppy food
• Adult dog food

🐱 We also need:
• Kitten food
• Adult cat food

If you’re unable to donate food but would like to help, financial contributions are also very welcome. You can make a donation using our bank details with the reference FOOD + Your Name.
