Why do we recommend to transition your dog slowly when moving onto a new diet?
💁🏼♀️ Digestive adjustment - Some dogs (especially puppies) digestive systems can be sensitive, a sudden change in diet can lead to diarrhea if not done over a transition period and can cause food avoidence
🙅🏻♀️Gradual acclimatization - A slow transition allows your dogs gut flora to adjust to the new diet. This helps with better digestion and nutrient absorption
🙆🏽♀️Preference and acceptance - Some dogs may be hesitant to accept new flavours or textures, slow transition helps them adapt to their new diet
🙋🏿♀️Minimise stress - Sudden changes can be stressful for any dog, a new home, new environment, change in diet and routine. A slow transition will reduce anxiety with your dog and associations with new experiences and changes.
