We hope you understand that we have to respect the privacy of those who received the eggs. The eggs that were so kindly donated went to: Old age / retirement homes Cancer wards General hospital wards (state hospital) Children’s homes Orphanages Special need schools Feeding schemes Soup kitchens Junior schools in poverty stricken areas Safe houses Gender based violence safe havens Community outreach for animal welfare (special children who report animal needs in areas where the community do not have access to Veterinary treatment) Informal settlements Homeless people on our street We are so thankful to all the organizations, charities, political parties and feeding schemes who took the time to hand out these Easter eggs personally in their “areas” of work and of course great need. Our team handed out many themselves to their “usual” places and then our community leaders who do important work every day of the year focussed on their areas. This ensured the eggs reached the people in need. We are so thankful and continue to be amazed at your efforts this year. Our absolute thanks and blessings!

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 2024 Charity Drive was a true challenge. We are so thankful to our community, friends and “family” who rose to this challenge. This year was our slowest collection and just over 2 weeks ago we had not even reached 1000 eggs. The goal of 3,000 seemed impossible. Despite having the slowest and lowest amount donated, we had the highest number of individuals arrive with boxes. Kindness soon spread especially amongst the younger generation, and when we found ourselves in trouble “family” seemed to appear. The support of our amazing community was outstanding, we are so thankful to those companies, schools and individuals. Watch the video to see to what number we (eventually) got to!

This video really shows the amazing spirit of kindness that our Easter Egg charity drive spreads. The way the next generation has responded has been beyond beautiful. We will share a special update on the results of the Minott’s campaign. But for now enjoy this beautiful video.

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗗𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗟𝗟’𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 You will know Zachary Bull from our previous Easter Egg charity drive when he wasn’t even 3. Dr Clifford has made sure Zach has accompanied his parents on most drop offs during Easter time so that he can see the value in helping those less fortunate. This year his parents Cliff and Kim are incredibly proud of Zach who is now 8 years old and purchased Easter eggs for the “kids” which his own pocket money. Zachary asks that we all “be kind” and we think that one day our charity project will be in great hands when Dr Bull retires. Until then it seems like we have a dream team with the best of both. Please remember we need 2,000 boxes of Easter eggs this year and we are far behind our usual collections.

We have collected 500 Easter eggs for our charity drive according to Brave who came to do a quick count. This means we still need 2500 boxes if we are to beat last year’s numbers. At this stage, Dr Bull is remaining brave himself and still believes it will happen. We however have our concerns. 𝗗𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 - and would love to see you with Easter Eggs if you are able to bless someone this year. Dr Sam will join him on Sunday. And Sr Nadia is supporting us the entire weekend. 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧 Dr Bull was contacted by various emergency workers, concerned stakeholders and Veterinarians this weekend to assist with the Buffalo on the R21 highway. The Buffalo could later not be found and various reports and pleas for assistance came in. Paul Raly (CPF Crystal Park) and Juan Viljoen (CPF Bonaero Park) ensured that this rescue mission was well organized and key stakeholders were involved - thank you once again Paul. Dr Bull left for the Serengeti area, (unfortunately it was just near the local housing estate and not in Africa) to assist with the capture and relocation of the Buffalo. With his game trailers and dart gun in tow he was kindly flown by Bidvest. After clearance from OR Thambo was given, it was up in the air to search for the roaming buffalo. Three choppers were deployed this evening thank you to the pilots: Stefan Smuts, Jaacie Visagie and Sibongiseni Shandu. Not only are the animals at serious risk of injury, motorists are too at major risk. Whilst the buffalo were not located it was a unique view for Dr Bull who does not do much city flying. He does admit that this would have been one for the books for Craig View’s stray project. Also Dr Bull wishes to remind everyone that he is collecting Easter Eggs for this years charity drive. And he still requires 2100 boxes.

𝗚𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗡 𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗘 𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗦 𝗛𝗜𝗦 “𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘” 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 Dr Sam is excited to share Jack’s success story with you. Jack van Loggerenberg is a 15-year-old Dachshund who presented to our clinic for incoordination of his front legs and falling over. He was eating normally, no vomiting or diarrhoea but was very unstable on his legs. These symptoms are very common for a condition known as IVDD – intravertebral disc disease. IVDD is classically known in long backed, short legged dogs, and dachshund being the most representative. IVDD is when the disc between the vertebrae slips or herniates and causes pressure on the spinal cord. This pressure interrupts the signals down the spine to the rest of the body and thus causes symptoms described above. To definitively diagnose where the disc is along the spine, Jack went for an MRI. Magnetic resonance imaging can clearly show where the disc is and the prognosis of the lesion. We can get non-surgical disc prolapses which involves rest and pain medication to manage the symptoms. But Jack’s lesion would not have been managed medically and surgical intervention was a must. 𝙏𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚, 𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙤𝙜𝙨. Hail forms from supercooled water. Supercooled water is something unique–it’s water that is below its normal freezing point of 0°C and yet remains a liquid. Scientists aren’t exactly sure how this happens, but they do know that it occurs frequently in the upper atmosphere. Supercooled water will freeze when it comes in contact with something, like an ice crystal, dust particle, or raindrop. Hail is associated with high, vertical cumulonimbus clouds, the kind of clouds that produce severe thunderstorms.

If you saw his schedule, his insane working hours and how far he travels on the ground and in the air every day, many would not believe it possible. We knew collecting the tractor would involve a 400km journey for him, but he was committed as always even at night. We didn’t bargain though on how enthusiastic he would be to clean up the park and make a contribution towards this amazing initiative. But then we close up this beautiful practice this evening, everything in its place and sparkling clean - we should have known that if it’s anything to do with cleaning, tidying up and pride there is only one man for the job! Not only does allowing your animals inside protect them from the cold, studies have shown your animals will have a better bond with you by sharing your living space. 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 📽𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘌𝘨𝘨 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 For the last 5 years Dr Clifford Bull has collected boxes of Easter eggs for less fortunate children and old aged homes. A simple gesture to celebrate Easter in hope that just for a day or even moment those less fortunate would know they were considered, recognized and loved. 𝘐𝘯 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦. 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘥, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥” (𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘸 12:21). It seemed impossible to collect 1800 boxes this year, and we struggled to even get to 500 at a stage. But Dr Bull believed there always was hope and that seemed to have a 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁… We are extremely proud of this year’s charity challenge, grateful for every box donated and humbled by the support shown.
