We rescued this pretty girl when she was 6 weeks old and she turns 1 year this month...
Please share, share, share and help us find her the perfect home. Hazel has watched so many other rescues going home with their new families and she can't wait for it to be her turn.

Hazel played a role in a movie (still to be released), she gives Hi 5, she is well socialised with dogs of all shapes and sizes and she only weighs 12kgs! Hazel is excellent with cats - she sleeps with, de-fleas and plays with them. Hazel is house trained and sleeps inside AND she loves any and everybody. What else can you ask for in a dog? She is not only beautiful on the outside but has a beautiful nature too.

Thank you Gabrielle Serfontein & Leon Serfontein....these two lovely people have been selling the last of our relief shop clothing items and have managed to raise R3670 towards the Be Lekka fund. With this money we have just paid for 12 Eagle Owl nesting boxes and will also buy more wildlife feed. Our amazing friend, Riaan the bee guy , has offered to make these boxes for only R200 each!
For only R200 you could be hosting an owl family. Its breeding season and there are no trees in areas like Brenton. The mice are coming into the houses because there is no natural pest control (owls) at the moment. We need breeding boxes up in these areas to encourage the owls to move back. For any contributions towards our feathery friends please reference OWL when making your payment, ANY contributions welcome.

UK: Endangered seahorses ‘dried alive and turned into jewellery’

Every year billions of wild seahorses are pulled out of the ocean, die a slow death drying in the sun before their dead bodies are packed up and transported all over the world as part of a million pound trade.

Most of them end up in countries like China and Hong Kong where it is believed that they have medicinal properties, but a significant number are embedded in pendants and keyrings, put up for sale online and shipped to the UK.

The enormous demand for dried seahorse has depleted the number of seahorses in the wild dramatically. One conservation charity, the Seahorse Trust, says they will be extinct within 30 years.

While celebrating our beautiful mega herd of rescues five months on, happily ambling off into the bush for the day, it is vital that we do not loose sight of our fundamental goal - to create maximum awareness as to the plight of the donkeys in our (cry the) beloved South Africa and MAKE THE CHANGE!

These petrified and desperate animals had clearly not eaten for days, possibly even weeks and NEW LAWS need to be put into place to STOP this decimation of our donkeys in its tracks as well as to STOP inhumane auctions of this nature from being legally permissible!

The new property links directly with us across the river and would enable us to put up 10 lovely new 2 acre camps while providing us with an instant Visitors Centre, a Guest House to accommodate you all and two really cool workers cottages for added security to boot!
