Help Us Build the Wet Nose Rainbow Bridge

Dear Wet Nose Family,

We are excited to announce a heartfelt project inspired by the beautiful Rainbow Bridge memorials seen around the world. Our vision is to create a Rainbow Bridge here at Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre—a special place where we can honour and remember the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. This will be a serene spot where you, our loving community, can hang the memorabilia of your cherished pets who have passed away, celebrating their lives and the joy they brought to us.

How You Can Help:
- Sponsor the Project: We are looking for kind-hearted sponsors to help us bring this beautiful idea to life. Your support will go towards materials, paint, and other necessary supplies.

- Volunteer Your Skills: Are you a skilled builder, landscaper, or painter? We would love your help in constructing and decorating our Rainbow Bridge.

- Donate Materials: If you have any materials such as wood, paint, or decorations that you can contribute, it would be greatly appreciated.

By coming together, we can create a touching tribute that honours the unconditional love and joy our pets have given us.

If you would like to contribute in any way, please leave a comment below, send us a message, or contact us directly at [email protected] or 082 677 8084.

Thank you for helping us create a place of love, memory, and community. Let's make the Wet Nose Rainbow Bridge a beautiful reality together!

Meet Penelope: A Story of Courage and Healing

Penelope has been on an inspiring journey of recovery and resilience. Penelope and her family faced numerous challenges when their previous owner moved to a place unsuitable for them, leaving the donkeys behind. The new owners, full of love but limited in resources, quickly realized they needed specialized help to care for Penelope and her family.

Penelope’s battle began with a severe tick-related condition, which caused nerve damage and led the ear to become droopy. This drooping prevented proper aeration, creating an environment where maggots could thrive. As the situation grew dire, Penelope’s new caretakers sought external intervention.

Upon our arrival, it was clear that Penelope needed immediate medical care. Initially, our team tried everything possible to save her ear. She was put on a strong regimen of antibiotics, and we provided meticulous care, cleaning and treating the infection daily. Despite these efforts, Penelope’s condition did not improve, and the infection continued to cause her immense pain.

After thorough examinations and consultations, it became evident that the only way to relieve her suffering was to amputate her ear. The decision was made with heavy hearts but with Penelope’s best interests in mind.

The procedure, although challenging, marked the beginning of Penelope’s road to recovery.

Today, Penelope's ear is showing remarkable improvement, clearly showing signs of her pain subsiding. Her resilience shines through each day as she navigates her new reality with grace and strength. The relief is visible in her eyes, and there’s a newfound joy in her steps. Penelope’s journey reminds us of the incredible strength and will to live that animals possess, even in the face of adversity.

We are immensely proud of Penelope and grateful for the support from our community, which has been crucial in providing the necessary care and love she deserves. Penelope’s story is one of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of dedicated care.

Thank you for being part of her journey. Your support makes all the difference.

A Journey of Recovery and Love: Celebrating Tayaar and Diamond's Remarkable Transformation

We are overjoyed to share an uplifting update about two very special souls, Tayaar and Diamond, whose stories touched so many hearts. From their humble beginnings and challenging past, these magnificent horses have not only surpassed expectations but have also found a forever home where they are cherished and loved.

Tayaar and Diamond arrived in our care in a dire state, weighing only 128kg and 192kg, respectively - far from the healthy norm for horses of their stature. Their journey from fragile, neglected animals to strong, vibrant beings is nothing short of miraculous. With meticulous care, patience, and dedication, we watched in awe as Tayaar's weight soared to an impressive 536kg, and Diamond's to a robust 480kg. Their transformation is a testament to the resilience of these beautiful creatures and the power of compassionate care.

Our hearts are full as we announce that Tayaar and Diamond have found their forever home with a wonderful family. This incredible outcome marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with love, safety, and the dignity these horses so deeply deserve.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the family who opened their hearts and home to Tayaar and Diamond. Your kindness has changed the course of their lives, and for that, we are forever thankful.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us continue to advocate for the welfare of all animals, ensuring they receive the love, care, and respect they deserve. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of many more like Tayaar and Diamond.

Candy's Journey: From Despair to Hope

In an inspiring turn of events, Candy, the horse whose tale of neglect touched hearts far and wide, has shown remarkable signs of improvement.

Candy's story began in the expanse of Kameeldrift, where she was left to fend for herself in a state of dire neglect. Her initial condition was a grim testament to the consequences of abandonment, battling a slew of life-threatening issues from severe tick infestation to anaemia, foot sores, and infections. The absence of cartilage in her ears led to drooping and severe infection, painting a bleak picture of her chances for survival.

Candy's transformation is nothing short of miraculous. Each day, she grows stronger, with her conditions that once seemed insurmountable now receding into the background. Her wounds are healing, the tick infestation is being meticulously managed, and her anaemia is being addressed with the care it demands. The drooping of her ears, once a symbol of her neglect, now marks her as a fighter, a survivor of circumstances that would have felled a lesser spirit.

This journey of recovery was made possible by the collective efforts of many who came forward to assist. Donations that helped cover the costs of her medical treatment, and volunteers dedicated their time and resources to ensure that Candy received the best possible care.

While Candy's progress is a cause for celebration, her journey is far from over. Continued support is crucial as she still requires daily treatments and medical attention to fully recover. It's a call to arms for anyone who can contribute, be it through further donations, supplies, or simply by sharing her story to keep the momentum of her recovery going.

We pledge to keep you updated on Candy's journey, celebrating each milestone along the way. Together, let's continue to champion for Candy, ensuring her tale evolves into one of lasting joy and health.

THE FIGHT FOR CANDY - A Tale of Compassion and Urgency

Today, we bring to light the heart-wrenching saga of Candy, a horse whose plight underscores the harsh reality of neglect and the urgent need for compassion. Candy's journey is a stark reminder of the resilience required to survive against odds that seem insurmountable.

Candy's ordeal began in Kameeldrift, a game reserve where she was left behind by owners who transferred their responsibilities to caretakers. These caretakers, upon realizing the gravity of Candy's deteriorating condition, sought help, but it was a case of too little, too late...
Initially, they shared only a picture of her foot, hoping to illustrate a minor issue—a thorn. However, the reality was far grimmer. Candy was suffering deeply, her condition exacerbated by a lack of genuine care and medical attention.

The responses from various people were all the same—Candy required immediate veterinary intervention. But with a lack of funds the caretakers felt powerless; leaving Candy's fate hanging in a delicate balance.

In the absence of proper medical treatment, Candy's caretakers were given Rooibos herbs by the owner's sister, a well-meaning but ultimately ineffective attempt to address her ailments. She is currently battling severe tick infestation, foot sores, anaemia, and infections. Further complicating her situation is the absence of cartilage in her ears, leading to drooping ears and severe infection.
Candy's story is one of survival against the bleakest of odds. Were it not for our timely intervention, she would likely have succumbed to a variety of life-threatening issues: biliary, the relentless consumption of her flesh by ticks, or infections stemming from her untreated wounds.

Her journey of recovery is just beginning, filled with daily treatments to heal her wounds, combat the tick infestation, and address her anaemia. Every step forward is a testament to her enduring spirit and the unwavering dedication of those around her.

Candy needs your support more than ever. Thoughts, donations, and any form of assistance can help turn the tide in her favour. It's a call to arms for all who can lend a hand, be it through medical supplies, financial contributions, or simply spreading the word about her plight.

We will keep you updated on Candy's path to recovery. Together, we can ensure her story evolves from one of despair to one of hope and healing.

Dear Wet Nose Community

It is with heavy hearts that we share the most difficult news about our beloved Blade. This weekend, we said a tearful goodbye to our beautiful big boy. Despite our best efforts and your unwavering support, Blade's journey has come to an end.

When Blade came to us, he was in a severely weakened state. He bravely fought through his many challenges and got stronger day by day. Unfortunately over the weekend, he developed a life-threatening case of Colic. Our team, working tirelessly through the night, did everything in our power to ease his pain and bring him comfort, but as the night turned into day, it became apparent our gentle giant might not pull through.

Faced with Blade's suffering and a disheartening prognosis from the vet, with profound sadness and Blade's best interest at heart, we chose to let him run free and peacefully in the skies above. This decision has left our staff in tears, and we are absolutely devastated to share this news with you, our community who has so lovingly followed and supported Blade's story.

Blade's journey with us was short, but his impact was immense. He touched our hearts and showed us the true meaning of resilience and strength. In these moments of grief, we find comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to each one of you for your support, love, and care for Blade.

As we mourn the loss of our beautiful big boy, we remember the love and lessons he brought into our lives. Blade will forever be a part of our story, a gentle soul who taught us so much about courage, resilience, and hope.

Rest peacefully, dear Blade. You will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts.

Blade's Journey: A Testament to Hope and Healing

In the latest chapter of Blade's incredible journey, we're overjoyed to share the strides he's made towards a brighter, healthier future. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community and dedicated care, Blade's transformation is a beacon of resilience and hope.

Under our watchful care, Blade's condition has shown remarkable improvement. While his skin, previously a reflection of his hardships, may not yet radiate perfect health, it has notably healed and looks much better than before. This improvement is a clear result of nurturing treatments and gentle care.

The daily treatment of Blade's infected knee, a condition that could have been fatal, is now showing significant improvement. Coupled with this, since we've trimmed his hooves, he has made a vital step that has notably enhanced his mobility. This careful attention to both his knee and hoof care has collectively overcome his previous challenges with walking, slowly but surely transforming his once uncertain steps into confident strides toward recovery.

Furthermore, the old wound from an improperly administered injection is also healing. While we remain cautious, each day brings us closer to full recovery.

We cannot express enough gratitude towards our community for the role you've played in Blade's journey. Your support, in all its forms, has been crucial in Blade's recovery, offering him a second chance at life.

Blade's story, once shadowed by adversity, now shines with the promise of hope and recovery. We look forward to sharing more milestones in Blade's journey, as we walk together towards a future filled with optimism and health.

As we appreciate the support for Blade so far, his care and medical treatments still require a lot of resources. We're asking for your help with his ongoing needs. Every bit of help counts and goes directly to supporting Blade's recovery journey, even by liking and sharing the post. Thank you for continuing to stand with us and Blade.
