Livery Available

We have 3 main training arenas( two all weather Klopf Fibre arenas and a grass arena) as well as a general purpose sand arena and a fibre lunging arena with a permanent base. There is also a 1km well maintained trotting track inside the perimeter fence, as well as some cross country jumps scattered all over the property.

The stables are large and airy, and housed inside two interleading large barns.
Horses spend the better part of the day(8am till 2.45 pm) in individual electrified paddocks, and receive three hard feeds and three portions of long feed daily, as well as daily grooming.
We have a groom who lives on the property and does a late evening and an early morning check.
All riders are competitive and many top instructors in a variety of disciplines are available at this yard or your instructors may come and teach you. We also host training type events and clinics.

Epona is situated in Morning Star just off the N7 in the direction of Malmesbury, approximately 20 mins from the N1.

WHY IS PASSIVE STRETCHING IMPORTANT IN THE EQUINE ⁉️

“Suppling exercises increase the range of joint motion by reducing tension and resistance in the muscles or connective tissues (tendons, ligaments and joint capsules), and they should be a part of the daily routine throughout the horse’s athletic career.” -Hilary Clayton

🐎Additional benefits include increased speed and acceleration, because when the horse is able to achieve a larger joint range of motion they are able to apply greater forces to the ground over a longer period of time.⏱

🥇In showjumping:
Greater forelimb flexibility enhances the horses ability to achieve full flexion of the forelimbs and rotation of the scapula on the thoracic-sling to ensure full tuck of the forelimbs over the jump.

🏆In dressage:
Increased muscle length allows for greater range of motion of the joints during performance which enhances the aesthetic quality of the horses performance.

💚So how long should you be stretching your horses limbs?
-20 seconds

💚What kind of stretches should you do?
-Forelimb protraction (as shown in the picture) and retraction
-Hindlimb protraction and retraction

If you need help with how to specifically perform these stretches you can contact the CAP TEAM for a consult including a demonstration of stretching techniques that you can use for your horse. 🐴
