It’s been ages! We miss you all!!

Sorry for the silence…
it’s a combination of the primary hustle needing more of our time (South Hound is still our side hustle) &
the fact that our adventure hound has been on a decompression protocol for the past few months. Many of you know she struggles with her reactivity so we’re working on a new, slow and steady, plan where we keep her out of the spaces where she is likely to run into other dogs/people and do more at home training/games together… in an effort to bring her back to baseline. Effectively shrinking her world in the short term, to grow it again in the long term. It’s been a learning journey for all of us and I’m so thankful to have Kieron from as our partner for this particular adventure!

But we’re still here!! Love to all y’all in our pack.

It’s that time of year when we think about the hound that started it all, our original adventure hound and the dog that changed my life in so many ways. Scout was true to her name, she would always hop up to the vantage to get a better view and check out the lay of the land. She remains a guiding soul and the muse behind South Hound 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Good morning!!

Adventuring during the work week can be limited sometimes. And as the days get shorter it can get harder to keep things interesting. We’re finding our neighborhood strolls a little tiresome so are exploring new urban adventure locations, and trying to up our training game again!

Our friend; dear, sweet Eva, left us today. One of those truly special souls, full of only kindness and love for every human and animal she met. She is loved. She will be missed terribly. To you, Eva 🧡✨🌈

Little dog’s big holiday adventure! Finally felt was ready to take on a full table mountain day. She packed her snacks and her water bowl and was ready to go!

We chose to go up skeleton gorge- you are allowed to take dogs in at Kirstenbosch’s Rycroft Gate and walk them up to the contour path and back right to the Skeleton Gorge trail head.
It’s a steep path, lots of rock hopping and a series of ladders. All of which she handled like a champ.
I keep her on a long lead as she’s a reactive dog and we did have a brief moment where a runner gave her a little fright but he was kind about it.
