Can Raw Food Give My Pet Worms? 🐶🐱🐛

This is a common concern, but the short answer is: No, properly sourced raw food will not give your pet worms. Here's why:

Worms and other parasites don’t spontaneously appear in raw meat. They originate from infected animals or contaminated environments. High-quality raw pet food undergoes strict handling processes to prevent contamination and eliminate parasites.

How Do Pets Actually Get Worms?
Most pets get worms from:
🐾 Scavenging: Eating wild animals, rodents, or infected f***s
🌱 Soil & Water: Contact with contaminated ground, standing water, or untreated food sources
🦠 Fleas & Other Hosts: Some worms, like tapeworms, are transmitted via fleas, not food

Keeping Your Pet Safe

Cats are desert animals by nature, which means their bodies are designed to get most of their hydration from food rather than drinking water. In the wild, their diet consists mainly of small prey, which is about 70-75% water. Many modern diets, particularly dry options, contain much less moisture, so it’s easy to see why some cats may not get as much hydration as they need 🐱💧

Unlike dogs, cats have a naturally low thirst drive. Even with a full water bowl available, they often won’t drink enough to fully compensate for lower moisture intake from food. Over time, this can contribute to common feline health issues like kidney disease, urinary tract infections, and bladder stones.

Switching to a moisture-rich raw diet can make a huge difference. The high water content in raw meat helps maintain kidney function, support urinary health, and keep your cat feeling their best. If you want to boost hydration even more, adding bone broth 🦴 to meals can be a great way to increase fluid intake.
