Still no home for Peanut, please share ❤️

Meet the gorgeous Peanut, a 10-year-old purebred Pekingese with a heart full of love.❤️

Peanut came from a wonderful home where she was deeply cherished, but her family had to immigrate to America. She was entrusted to another family member, but unfortunately, she and their cat do not get along. It's unclear if the issue lies with Peanut or the cat simply not being used to dogs.

Peanut is now searching for a loving retirement home where she can spend her days lounging on someone's lap, basking in affection and care.

If you can offer Peanut the loving home she deserves, please contact Michell at 0837347867.❤️❤️

RIP Maru 💔

We are heartbroken to share that Maru crossed the rainbow bridge on Monday. She was adopted in 2019 by the most wonderful family, Tony and Jo, when she was young and full of life.

Maru was truly one of the lucky ones—loved deeply and given the best life. In her last year, she battled kidney issues, but Tony and Jo made sure she received the best care, taking her to the vet daily for treatment. Sadly, with the heat in Cape Town and her condition worsening, it was time to let her go peacefully.

Fly high, sweet Maru. You were so loved, and your brother Elvis, who was also adopted from us, will miss you dearly. 💕🌈

Dogs and cats don’t sweat like humans and can suffer heatstroke far more easily.

🐕 SAFETY FOR YOUR CANINE FRIENDS:

• Exercise your dog early or late in the day. All dogs, especially flat faced breeds, can overheat quickly.
• Check the temperature of the ground or sand, because if it’s too hot to touch, then it’s TOO HOT for their paws.
• Provide fresh water daily. Clam shell pools, doggy ice treats, kongs and home alone toys are great fun, keeps them cool and provides mental enrichment.
• Leave dogs in a shady area, bearing in mind the movement of the sun as the day passes.

SIGNS OF HEATSTROKE:

• Muddy pink gums (instead of bright pink)
• Heavy panting with occasional frothing mouth
• Disorientation
• Increased heart rate

WHAT TO DO:

• Remove the pet from the heat source if possible.
• Increase ventilation (fan) and apply cool water or a cool towel compress.
• Do not apply ice, this causes blood vessels to constrict and takes the dog longer to cool down.
• Reapply the cool towels frequently.
• Offer water to your pet, but don’t force it.
• Get your pet to the vet quickly.

WARNING:

⚠️ NEVER walk your dog when the temperate is over 30ºC – their paws burn on hot pavements and hot sand.

⚠️ NEVER leave your dog in a parked car on a warm day. Even on a cool day, the temperature in the car is much hotter than outside and can lead to brain damage or death.

🐈‍⬛ SAFETY FOR YOUR FELINE FRIENDS:

• Offer your cat multiple ways to cool off: see what your cat likes, try making fans available or add ice cubes to your cat’s water bowl.
• Provide access to cool spots around the house: let kitty reach tiled floors, bathtubs (empty) and move around to shaded rooms.
• Play in the morning and evening when it’s cooler: you wouldn’t jog at midday,
so play with your cat when the house is cool.
• Brush kitty frequently: brush your cat to remove extra fur that holds in body heat. Some long haired cats even enjoy a professional trim for the summer.
• Make sure there is always water available: check water bowls often – water evaporates quickly in the heat.

Watch carefully for signs of heat stroke: These symptoms can signal a serious condition. Please get your overheated cats to the vet as soon as possible:

• Panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy
• Fever
• Vomiting
• Collapse

🐾 POEM OF A LITTLE DOG

I am the one who always waits for you.
Your car has a special sound, engraved in my senses—I can recognize it among a thousand.
Your footsteps carry a magical tone. 💗🥰🥰
Your voice is music to my ears.
Seeing your joy makes me happy!
Your scent is the finest.
Your presence awakens my every sense.
Your waking stirs me from sleep.
I watch you as you sleep, and to me, you are my God; I am happy guarding your dreams.
Your gaze is a ray of light.
Your hands on me hold the gentleness of peace and the purest expression of infinite love.
When you leave, an immense emptiness fills my heart.
Yet I wait for you, again and again.

I am the one who will wait for you my whole life—today, tomorrow, and always:
I am your dog! 🐶🐾

When you see a dirty cat.😭
This is important information to know about why cats look dirty.
Cats can tolerate hunger for up to a week on average, but cannot go no more than 2-3 days without water.
Cats are usually very clean, they groom themselves several times a day. If you see a cat that does not look clean, it is DEHYDRATED and has been so for many days.
Their saliva glands are not functioning properly because they require moisture to groom their fur.
If you see a stray cat that looks dirty, DO NOT turn the other way or see it as disgusting, because it is suffering and probably hasn't had anything to eat or drink in a long time.
Find kindness in your heart to give it food and WATER. The life of a homeless animal is not an easy one. It lives in constant fear of other animals and humans, and it has never known the comfort of a soft bed or a restful night’s sleep.
Helping a less fortunate being is the opportunity for you to become a better person and to make this a better world.❤️

A week ago, Dot received a call asking her to remove a kitten who was too playful and energetic for the children in the home. The little one was constantly jumping and playing, which left the kids feeling scared.😭

Dot stepped in and took the kitten straight to the vet, where it was revealed that "Daisy" was actually a male!🥰

We’re thrilled to share that Daisy, now lovingly known as Daisy Dude, has been rehomed with our amazing adopter Bridgette, who has a farm filled with animals she has adopted from us. Her rescues live the most wonderful lives, surrounded by love and care.🥰

Here’s Daisy Dude arriving at his new home yesterday, tail up and heart full of love!💕💕💕
