Sunday was Langa day. I came with LOADS OF FOOD, deworming Tablets and Nexgard. Unfortunately it looks like Bobbi is pregnant 🥹.

Scarlett was rescued off the streets at 2am on a Sat morning. She clearly has had the worst possible past, but by grace it did not taint her soul. She is calm, loving, friendly, beautiful soul. She desperately craves loves cuddles kisses and a human.

She been broken 💔 abused abandoned and she isn't a youngster. Help this mama please 🙏 safe with kids and other dogs but don't suggest cats.

We know all the animal rescues are in great need at the moment. Unfortunately we are one of them. Happy Tails Langa is a very small animal rescue trying to do what we can with limited resources. Our animal warrior Katja is overwhelmed with the great need out there.

We need more volunteers to do field work on the ground, help with donation days, take dogs to the clinic.

Foster are also urgently needed. We don't have a dedicated space for the rescue dogs like most big shelters have.

We need donations. Even a simple thing as a plastic ice cream container can be used as a food bowl for the Langa dogs.

Please spread the word and share and like our social media pages. More exposure means more dogs get adopted.

Then we went to check up on Coco's new puppies. The one little pup is healing from a really bad case of mange. He was at the PDSA a while back. Katja gave the 3 puppies her last tick meds, and we fed them, unfortunately on the ground because all the bowls where already given away. Left some food. While we were there we were approached by more people that needed to be helped.

As our time was busy running out for the day and Katja had to dash off to another meeting, more people approached us at the purple van. She went to go check out another dog, and we gave her more food, blankets, and dog treats. It is just amazing to see the trust everyone has in her and the respect they have. They knew we were there to help the dogs. Katja just has the greatest ability to connect with any person and her willingness to help any animal in need shines through. She truly is an animal warrior.

From there on we went to Zonke where JD and Whiskey's mom and brother still lives. Zonke cares a lot for her dogs and you can see they are happy and healthy. The male dog has just developed some behavioral issues because of kids throwing stones at him when they get out of school. Katja as promised to contact her animal behavior expert and get back to Zonke. For now the boy will just be kept at the back of the yard when Zonke is at work.

Then off we went to go give some food to a new puppy who lives now where Husky lived. The senior dog whose house was flooded last winter. The poor boy was starving. We made sure he had some fresh water and something to eat. He is also put on the sterrie list, which I updated as we went. We left more food at Coco to give to his owner. Will check up on him again.

Then we went to check up on Coco. But as soon as we stopped in Church street the people came to ask for help with their dogs. We were approached by a lovely lady called Mavis. Her poor doggy is crying and she does not know why. After Katja whispered to the dog she found that she has got a bad case of worms. Katja will go back and give her some worm meds. More food was also left for this pretty girl.

Next stop was at Arnolds. He was not at home but we left some food at the neighbor for mommy Amy and the two other dogs. She has come a long way and did not even run away when I was there. Katja truly is the animal whisperer.

Building trust and feeding the dogs some treats. 😄

Just as we walked out another woman Katja knows by name approached us. She know someone who would like to have help with a kennel for her new puppies. Off we went in the purple van to check it out. These two little puppies distrusted us but in the end, Katja won them over. We got the owner's details and see if we can get them a kennel and follow up on their vaccinations. Both little balls of fluff are just 4 months old. They look healthy and happy. Just need a kennel to sleep in.

Next we went to go check up on the mommy dog and her puppy left at the school. These dogs are covered in ticks. Katja even removed some ticks from the white puppy's eyes. He especially needs some worm meds and tick medication.

We gave both of them some food. Shame, the puppy was so hungry. We also saw that the school fixed their fence so there was no way for the dogs to get to their kennel on the school grounds. 😔

Even those these doggies where not in the best condition they have not lost their trust in us. They came running when they saw the purple van.

While we were there we were approached by a very concerned neighbour living across the school asking for food for the dogs. She try to give them us much of her own food as possible. We gave her some supplies, Katja got her contact details to keep in touch. At least there are some people willing to help.

Sunday Langa update continued...

Katja's contact, who is a very friendly man, has some rabbits he would like to rehome. The 2 males. The rabbits have a very nice enclosed which is clean and you can see they are well cared for. But rabbits will do as rabbits does and make more rabbits. So if anyone knows of anyone who would like to adopt a little rabbit or of an organisation please reach out so that we can find these 2 loving homes. They are used to be handled and make the perfect pets for those allergic to dogs. And yes, you can train them!
