Please vote and share - I am not sure whether our opinions will have any weight, but I would rather try than not.... Sterilisation should be mandatory and animal rescuers should be able to enforce that law!
*Are We Failing Our Animals? It's Time to Rethink Protection Laws in South Africa?* Have Your Say
Over 1,000 stray, unwanted, or injured animals face euthanasia in South Africa every single day. The burden of care—including rising veterinary costs—falls mostly on underfunded non-profits, who fight an uphill battle with limited resources. Is South African law doing enough to protect them? Right now, Parliament is reviewing the outdated legal framework governing companion animal welfare. This is a rare and powerful moment to strengthen protections, close dangerous loopholes, and demand better enforcement.

Tonight it is quiet on the farm. I sit here in my caravan and my body is complaining about the days work, and I think to myself, why do you do it?
That is a question I often get asked. Why do you stay on a farm with no running water and electricity and take care of dogs?
Then I listen to the silence and remember what it means.
Dogs sleeping, maybe not fancy , but warm and full tummies.
The husky mommy , thrown out the gate as she was no longer wanted because they have her puppies now. How she accepted 6 little orphans without hesitation and feeding and raising them with her 3 pups that we found.
Unfortunately they didn't want to surrender the other 4 as well.
JJ , who lost an eye and got burned with boiling water yet still took care of her pups , and 1 little orphan.
Killer and Miskybear ( who need new names ).
Two trembling little skeletons brought here by the kids , because Oupa doesn't want them anymore , he's going to get a Boerboel and a Rottweiler.
Killer isn't scratching himself till he bleeds anymore. They both gained weight. They can sleep without fear.
All of them can sleep , and that is why I do it.
Where would they have been if I didn't stay in a caravan on a farm and took care of dogs?
Good night
Sleep in peace and be blessed🐶🐕🦮

Brave Polly.
She comes from Kalkfontein, where her life has been marked by hardship and neglect. An untreated eye infection, left for far too long, has left her completely blind. By the time help arrived, it was too late to save her sight.
Despite her own suffering and frail condition — thin to the bone from lack of care — she showed extraordinary resilience. She lovingly raised seven puppies, giving them everything she had, even when she had so little for herself.
She is estimated to be around three years old and of medium size. Gentle and affectionate, she melts at the touch of an ear rub, a small comfort in a life that’s known very few. But there’s a deep fear in her still — the kind that lingers in a soul that’s had to survive too much.
She is not just another rescue. She is a survivor. And now she needs someone to see her the way she cannot see the world — with compassion, patience, and love.

Please🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
So far we have R1300,00.
We need 5000 bricks before they will deliver and we can start with the first camps!!
Help us get our dogs settled before winter!
Our dream for our doggies is to build them solid brick structures that is more weather friendly than our current fence camps.
Also a clinic and maybe there might be some left for us humans too!
Our goal is 50 000+ bricks.
Kindly sponsor a R10 or more🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you!
Be blessed 🐶🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩

Imagine Animal Dreams is an animal rescue center situated in Joostenbergvlakte, just outside Cape Town. Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, abused and stray dogs and cats.
We are a Non-Profit Organisation committed to providing quality of life for the animals in our care and to helping cats and dogs in local communities. Imagine Animal Dreams is a safe haven run by the founder, Cecilia Jacobs, it is a place where abused, abandoned and stray pets can live in harmony. A place where they get a second chance at life, Cecilia and her staff will do anything in their power to place each of the pets in a new loving forever home.
Ideally, we would like our dogs and cats to be suitably homed for life and cared for by responsible owners. While they remain at our shelter, we strive to provide an environment where our animals are protected, well cared for and loved.
Our aim is to sterilize and to eliminate cruelty to animals, whether arising from ignorance, neglect or deliberate cruelty and to alleviate suffering and promote well-being.
These goals come at a huge financial cost each month and we rely entirely on the generosity and goodwill of the animal-loving public for financial support.

Brief Organisation History
As a young girl Cecilia always had rescue in her heart, but her journey started when she moved to a property and found a very abused Rottweiler pup. She agreed to rent the property on condition that she may keep the pup, she nurtured her and called her Sasha. Sasha's story helped others see how caring and kind Cecilia was to animals and so people started bringing her strays and abused dogs.
We now have 70+ dogs and 20+ cats in our care.
