💔 MAX — OUR 17-YEAR-OLD SETTLEMENT WARRIOR 💔

Yesterday we were hit with the kind of news that saddens you… One of the dogs we care for in the informal settlement of Bonnytoun — Max, a gentle old boy of 17 years — was stabbed.

Thankfully, by nothing short of a miracle, the knife hit his shoulder and missed all vital areas. We rushed through and he’s now safe, treated, and recovering with lots of love and soft blankets.

Max has lived a long, loyal life alongside the people who love him in the settlement. He didn’t deserve this cruelty. No animal does.

We will continue checking on him and have taken the matter further .

Today in Bonnytoun we spent the day carrying out welfare checks, and one issue stood out above all others — so many pets are overrun with ticks. 🐾🕷️

Most pet owners we visited asked for help, and while we were able to offer sound advice as many were using old car oil and jeyes fluid out of desperation , the need is far greater than what we currently have supplies for. To properly treat these animals, we urgently need donations for tick dip so we can help get these pets comfortable and healthy again.

Every little bit truly makes a difference. 💛
