This very sweet intact, male pomeranian was picked up at the entrance to Sunset Links. Unfortunately he is not microchipped. Please phone the clinic on 021 555 0566 if he belongs to you :) Proof of ownership in the form of photos will be required on collection. We will request that his owners also microchip him when he is collected.

We are very proud of our three Veterinary Assistants, Spartan Pemba, Victor Nkota and Mcmillan Chirwa. They attended a workshop at Bergzicht Animal Hospital - Eden on the Bay this past Sunday. We would like to thank them for offering up their free time to attend this workshop.

The workshop was to show stress free handling and restraint technique when they assist the vets during consultations and procedures. They also learned about safety measures during radiography and general veterinary hospital care. They take a lot of pride in improving their skills and themselves to take better care of the patients in need.

Well done !!!

πŸˆβ€β¬›Benefits of Vetsbrands CalmFocus for dogs and cats!!🐾

At Sunset Beach Vet Clinic, we understand the importance of keeping your pet-child calm and happy. Especially when traveling and during stressful situations. We would like to recommend CalmFocus, a nutritional aid specifically designed to manage and relieve stress, modify behavioural problems and create a natural calming effect in both dogs and cats.

Lets break down the amazing ingredients and their benefits:
1. L-Tryptophan: This essential amino acid is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps improve mood and reduce anxiety. It aids in promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being.

2. Valerian Root: Known for its natural sedative properties, Valerian root helps to reduce anxiety and stress. It can also support sleep without the grogginess often associated with synthetic sleep aids.

3. Ashwagandha: An adaptogen that helps the body cope with stress by reducing cortisol levels. Ashwangandha can improve brain function, combat stress, and help reduce anxiety and depression symptoms in pets.

4. Manganese Amino Acid Chelate: Essential for proper nervous system function, this chelated mineral helps in managing stress by stabilizing the levels of cortisol and adrenaline in the body.

5. L-Theanine: This amino acid promotes relaxation without drowsiness. Commonly found in green tea, L-Theanine helps to reduce anxiety and improve cognitive function.

6. Zinc Amino Acid Chelate: An important trace mineral that supports the immune system and brain function. It helps in stress management by modulating brain activity and neurotransmitter function.

7. Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): Plays a vital role in nerve function and metabolic processes which can reduce stress and improve mood. Thiamine deficiency is often linked with irritability and anxiety.

How does VetsBrands CalmFocus work?

By targeting neurotransmitters and hormonal pathways, these ingredients work together to produce a calming effect, making your pets more comfortable in stressful situations. It helps in modifying behavioural issues such as hyperactivity and aggression by stabilizing mood and anxiety levels. The natural calming effect ensures that your pets are relaxed without any sedative side effects, ensuring they remain alert and happy.

Why choose Vetsbrands CalmFocus?

Natural ingredients: Safe and effective for both dogs and cats.
Comprehensive Formula: Targets multiple pathways to manage stress.
Veterinarian Recommended: Trusted by professionals for its efficacy. Ensure your pets stay calm and content with Vetsbrand CalmFocus. Ask us about this fantastic product on your next visit!!!

🚨 URGENT help needed to save the homeless pets & rescues of Khayelitsha 🚨

With the coldfront that has hit Cape Town, the pets & rescues in our shelter are feeling distressed. The current shelter conditions are not ideal despite our best efforts with beds and blankets. We are desperately seeking forever homes for them. 🏠

Our shelter is operating at 150% capacity and we can't take in any more surrenders. We're worried about the animals we can't accommodate during this harsh weather. πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’”

Adopting a dog not only brings warmth and love to the animal but also helps us create more space to assist other pets & rescues in need. We cannot do this without YOU! πŸ™

🐢 To adopt, please get in touch with [email protected] or 064 985 2513 or check out our adoptable dogs at www.mdzananda.co.za

Please help our dogs stay warm this winter. Together, we can ensure no dog is left out in the cold. Let's make a difference! 🧑

The 28th of September 2023 is World Rabies day.

This year's World Rabies Day theme is: β€œAll for 1, One Health for all”. 28 September this year will mark the 17th World Rabies Day. It is celebrated annually to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease. It also marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, the French chemist and microbiologist, who developed the first rabies vaccine.

Did you know that rabies occurs in every South African province? The three highest-risk provinces for dog rabies include KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Limpopo.

It is crucial that every pet owner has their dogs and cats vaccinated to protect both humans and animals against rabies.

The first rabies vaccine is given at 12 weeks (Three months) of age, followed by a booster vaccination between one and 12 months later. Thereafter, a booster is required every three years. In high-risk areas, annual vaccination is strongly advised!

Please make sure that your pet is up to date with his/her rabies vaccination to show your support.
