UPDATE 04/12/2023 @ 14.45 pm Our baby girl can come home today! Still a long road ahead, but she is on her way to full recovery. The vet couldn't believe she survived the weekend, but I fully believe having seen her Mum and Dad spurred her on. HAPPY UPDATE 03/12/2023 @ 08.20 am Casey is eating, no diarrhoea, and may come home either tonight or tomorrow! Praise God. FURTHER UPDATE 02/13/2023 @ 16.30 pm I just got this message: Good day, Casey is stable and ate a bit of chicken and rice when hand fed after you left. A colleague will update you again tomorrow. Kind regards, Dr Courtney 🥳🥳🥳🥳 UPDATE 02/12/2023 @ 11.30 am We visited Casey and she immediately got out of her cage and licked us until we were both covered in dog snot and people tears. What a turnaround. We can now move from "not great" to "cautiously optimistic". We tried to tempt her with some chicken, which she chewed and then spat out. After about 5 minutes, she lay back down but definitely looks happier. Funds-wise, we're R800 in the red, and we're looking at several more days, but there is a possibility of moving her to a welfare vet after the,weekend, which we will investigate. Any assistance towards her care will be gratefully accepted. Photos in comments. UPDATE 01/12/2023 @ 10.00 💔 The vets have advised the Casey's prognosis is not great. She is now on day 6 of her illness, and normally by now there is some degree of improvement. Although she is no worse, she is definitely not getting better. We have agreed to give her another 24 hours and then make a call. In terms of costs, there is R4 500 left in the budget, and that will carry us through to tomorrow. The vet has agreed that we can see her tomorrow (which has not been encouraged because she is in isolation) to see if that may lift her spirits and help her to fight on.
