Meet Chantel, receptionist:
I joined the Ixia St team in August 2023 and am thrilled to share a bit about myself with you all. Originally from Zimbabwe, I embarked on an exciting journey that led me to the beautiful city of Cape Town back in 2018.
One thing that has always fuelled my spirit is a deep-seated passion for making a positive impact, whether it's through helping animals, supporting people, or contributing to meaningful causes. I find immense joy in knowing that I can play a part, no matter how small, in making the world a better place.
When I'm not busy making a difference, you'll often find me embarking on adventures, soaking up the wonders of the great outdoors. Nature has a remarkable way of rejuvenating my soul and reminding me of the beauty that surrounds us.
I'm excited to be a part of the Ixia team and look forward to making a difference together!

At Ixia St we know how special the love of a furry friend is, and how life-saving and life-giving it can be on a bad day. This is why we love helping you care for these special family members. We also love the stories of good people spreading this kind of love to others who need it. Danny Naidoo, a gentle Basset Hound, recently passed his assessment to become a therapy dog (along with his Mom) for Pets as Therapy and will be working to bring joy and comfort to people who need it most.

"PAT organises for animal guardians and their animal companions (mainly dogs) to visit people in hospices, retirement homes, frail care facilities, special needs schools, residential centres, and a variety of other venues. PAT visits bring company, support, comfort, pleasure, stress relief, and stimulation to those living either permanently or temporarily in these and other establishments."

We wish Danny and Mrs Naidoo every success in spreading love in this wonderful way! πŸ’›πŸΎ

Meet Zoleka (Zoey), Stock and Store Manager:
I originally come from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, but moved to Cape Town as a child. I joined Ixia St full time in October 2022 and was so excited to start working in an animal hospital as a driver, packing treats for my little fluffy friends (and their humans) and keeping things stocked behind the scenes. I love animals and love getting to work for them! Outside of work, I enjoy running and entering races and I like to read. I also enjoy baking for my son.

Meet Mabel, receptionist:
I joined Ixia St in January 2022 and am originally from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Pearston. I moved to Cape Town in 2007 and worked in Melkbos at a veterinary clinic as well as at a grooming parlour where I learnt about all the different haircuts and styles pets can get. My love for animals comes from my dad who had a small farm with dogs, birds, geese and goats and so I grew up surrounded by animals. I work with an amazing team at Ixia St and am still learning a lot from all of them and look forward to learning more.

We are delighted to share with you that our consulting system returns to normal now!πŸ₯³
We will be seeing you and your precious pets 🐢🐱🐭🐹🐰 as per the old days-- all together in our consulting rooms!
We are also not limiting you to one person per pet, we realise families like to share in the care...and feel we can now relax on that score too.🀩
We have SO missed helping you this way and are looking forward to welcoming you back to the way things were.😊
Masks and sanitising are still compulsory (πŸ˜•sorry...those are the rules that still govern us all), but that's about all we need to think of.
With warmest regards and great pleasure,

Story time: James and the Family of Goslings
Last week, Dr Bosman and Dr Sussens looked up from their computers to see a family of Egyptian Geese complete with a waddle of fluffy goslings marching their way towards Ixia Street. Knowing that these little babies need water to survive, the Ixia St team sprang into action and James, our jack of all trades and former SPCA inspector, went off on the mission of gently and safely catching and relocating this family to the vlei where they can thrive next to the water without threat of growling motorbikes or roaring cars stalking them to leave them injured and afraid. Armed with a net and his years of experience, James successfully managed to scoop up these fluffy birds and, with the kind assistance of a crime watch patrolman and his vehicle, drove at a snails pace, or rather an anxious Mamma and Pappa gooose’s pace, down to the vlei with the goslings in their net out the window, a compass for their parents. We are so pleased to know that this gorgeous family is safely off the streets of Milnerton and back in the natural vlei where they belong!

There have recently been four confirmed cases of rabies in dogs in the wider Cape Town area. Please ensure that if your pets have not had their yearly vaccinations yet, you make an appointment with us soon for these! Rabies is entirely preventable with vaccination and 100% fatal (for animals and humans) without vaccination. πŸ’‰
We include the rabies vaccination in all our dog and cat yearly vaccines and for all puppies/kittens older than 12 weeks.
Exercise caution when interacting with any stray animals, and should you be bitten please seek medical attention immediately.

A few weeks ago we had a visit from a very pregnant mom-to-be, Tigger. You can count 4 skulls (or little spines) on these x-rays and see puppy number 1 all lined up and ready to make their entrance into the world. Two days later, four healthy puppies were born! 🐾These little guys are almost two weeks old now, and just getting cuter. 😍
