Important Reminder: Don’t Leave Your Pets in the Car! 🐾

With summer fast approaching, it is crucial to remind the public not to leave their pets in their car.

Leaving a dog in a car, even for a short time, can be extremely dangerous, especially on warm or hot days.

A car can heat up very quickly, even with the windows cracked. On a mild day of 21°C , the temperature can reach 38°C within just 20 minutes. This poses a serious risk of heatstroke, organ failure or death. Dogs cannot regulate their body temperature as efficiently as humans. They rely on panting and limited sweat glands in their paws.

Even if the temperature is not extreme, being left alone in a confined space can cause a dog stress and anxiety. This can lead to panic, barking and other distressing behaviors. The dog might also try to escape through partially open windows, which can result in injury.

Always prioritize your pet's safety by leaving them at home when running your errands or taking them to pet friendly places. If it is absolutely necessary for them to come along, be responsible and ensure they are never left unattended in a vehicle.

A appreciation post to the Vetus Schola Group
The Broadlands and Bakenrug K9 units of Vetus Schola did a show at Goodwood Sports Club by request of us at Goodwood Dog School for our open day earlier this year in February.

Displays were shown in Obedience, Narcotics training and various Bite work scenarios.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making the day an absolute success and showcasing what can be achieved by investing our time and patience into our K9 companions
