Our happy hounds food has arrived! We are so proud to be stocking a locally sourced, ethically farmed, unprocessed dog food. Not only that, our dogs think it tastes fantastic! We have a range of flavours, including venison for our allergy prone hounds.

This beautiful cat is called Pixie. Pixie came in to have a blood test to see if she has feline leukaemia. Feline leukaemia can be caused be a virus that is found in cat saliva. It is spread during cat fights or from being groomed by an affected cat. Luckily Pixie got the all clear and she has now been vaccinated to protect her from being infected in the future.

This is beautiful Pixie. She came in for a blood test today to find out if she has feline leukaemia. Feline leukaemia can be caused by a virus that is found in cat saliva. It is contracted through fight wounds or being groomed by a cat that has the virus. Luckily Pixe got the all clear and has now been vaccinated to protect her from contracting the virus in the future.

This little baby was found in a car bonnet yesterday morning. Luckily he had only made a short journey and suffered no ill effects for his mini adventure. It not unusual for cats and kittens to climb into car bonnets to keep warm, snuggling against the engine. We're so happy that he has lived to tell the tale.

Bladder stones! Some animal can develop bladder stones as a result of urinary tract infections, their diet/supplements, dehydration or from genetic diseases. Cats with bladder stones tend to urinate frequently, strain and can pass blood with their urine. Often, changing the diet to a specially formulated diet and increasing the amount of fluid consumed will dissolve the stones. This cat wasn't improving on a urinary diet so the decision was made to surgically remove them. She must have been very uncomfortable with these stones in her bladder. It will take a few weeks for her bladder to recover, but then she should feel much better.

Stevie came in to be spayed recently. We made her a little shelter in case she wanted to hide, but she was pretty relaxed for her stay with us.

Oliver is a 14 year-old gentleman who we the pleasure of looking after this week. His owners brought him in to see us because he was drinking a lot and losing weight. We discovered that he has got diabetes. Oliver started his treatment of a new diet and insulin injections. Hopefully, he'll be back to feeling tip top in no time.

Flaca came to visit us today for her annual vaccination. It's a good opportunity to have a full health check and chat about any problems with the vet. Flaca loves our biltong treats so she's always keen to pop in and say hi!
