Welcome to our GoFundMe campaign: https://gofund.me/b995d1c6
Dedicated to making a profound difference in the lives of stray dogs in Congo Brazzaville. Our mission is to provide daily feeding programs, vaccination and sterilization services, and community education to reduce the stray dog population and mitigate the risk of diseases. Our long-term vision includes establishing a shelter and rehabilitation center to offer these dogs a better life through adoption, training, and utilization as service dogs.
The Stray Dog Situation in Congo Brazzaville
Congo Brazzaville faces a significant challenge with its stray dog population. Thousands of stray dogs roam the streets, often malnourished and suffering from untreated injuries and diseases. Without intervention, their numbers continue to grow, increasing the public health risks associated with stray animals. Vaccinating and sterilizing stray dogs are crucial steps in breaking the cycle of disease transmission and population growth. Rabies, for instance, is responsible for approximately 59,000 human deaths globally each year, with the majority occurring in Africa and Asia.
Our Mission: Immediate and Long-term Goals - https://gofund.me/b995d1c6
Daily Feeding Programs
We aim to establish daily feeding programs in multiple locations across Congo Brazzaville. By providing regular meals, we can improve the health and survival chances of these dogs, reducing their tendency to scavenge in unsafe areas.
Vaccination and Sterilization Services
With the help of volunteer veterinarians, we are implementing vaccination and sterilization campaigns to control the stray dog population and prevent the spread of diseases. This will ensure fewer dogs are born into a life of hardship on the streets.
Community Education
Educating the community about animal welfare and disease prevention is essential for sustainable change. By conducting educational programs, we can foster a culture of compassion and responsibility towards animals, leading to a healthier coexistence between humans and dogs.
The Human-Dog Relationship in Congo Brazzaville
In Congo Brazzaville, dogs have traditionally been valued as protectors and companions. However, due to economic challenges, many dogs are abandoned or left to fend for themselves. Changing this situation requires a shift in perspective, recognizing dogs as sentient beings deserving of care and respect.
Long-term Vision: Shelter and Rehabilitation Center
Our long-term goal is to establish a shelter and rehabilitation center that will provide a safe haven for stray dogs. This center will offer shelter and medical care and focus on rehabilitation and training, preparing dogs for adoption and developing service animal programs.
Current Project: Food, Transportation, and Medical Care https://gofund.me/b995d1c6
Our immediate focus is on securing funds for food, transportation, and medical care with a goal of €7,000. These funds will be used to purchase high-quality dog food, cover transportation costs for our volunteers and veterinary teams, and provide necessary medical treatments for the dogs. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact.
