Today we admire all that Big JR is. Big JR has shown us that he would definitely do well as a therapy dog. He is an amazing companion to have.🩵
JR is in need of a home where he can finally retire and be in his element. He loves people! And he does so well with all humans regardless of their age or disabilities.
Please make this boy happy by giving him a home he deserves.

Just like any of the dogs in our care, we fell absolutely in love with Cinnamon.
She has the most amazing personality and she had everyone wrapped around her paws. 💕
We are so happy that she has found an amazing family who made their way from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town as soon as the decision was made.
Go well sweetheart! We love you.💙
Another amazing day spent at Faircape Health Bridgewater and Heritage Manor.💙

The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa is investigating a distressing complaint regarding the alleged keeping and sale of a litter of Lion Cubs by a Pretoria resident.
They are being crudely marketed on a Pretoria WhatsApp Group for R35 000 per Lion cub and thus far we can confirm that we know the alleged sellers name and contact details.
The matter has been reported to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) who have the mandate and authority to act.
It is our sincere hope that the Lion Cubs will be confiscated and ultimately be returned back to the wild.
Keeping a Lion as a pet is sheer madness and courting disaster as they cannot and should never be domesticated. They are the proverbial Kings of the Jungle and will bite the hand that feeds them of that we are 100% certain.
This is a developing story and we will keep you updated.
This morning we had our team and local & international volunteers out at Sunlands Primary School.🩵
What a wonderful time we had while educating learners about the 5 Freedoms for animals, some interaction with puppies and kittens and also a lovely puppet show.
Thank you for an amazing time and all your donations towards our society and the animals in our care.
Together we can be the voice for the voice-less.😃
On a normal day our Animal Care Centre squad visits the Faircape Group Health Care Centre to offer Assisted Pet Therapy.
Today, residents from the Faircape Tokai came all the way to see us and the work we do on a daily. They also came baring lovely gifts that would help the dogs in our care tremendously. 💙🥰
To top it off we ended with a "Hi-tea" to simply say thank you for all they do for us and the dogs in our care.
At the Faircape Group they believe that there are many benefits of pet therapy and we couldn't agree more!
It causes laughter and smiles, decrease the feelings of isolation, encourages communication and socialization, decreases boredom, improves recovery and releases calming endorphins and it does exactly the same to the dogs in our care who are awaiting their forever homes.
It's always heartwarming to see their faces light up. Thank you for always having us. 💙
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our hearts, and what better way to spend our time doing assisted Pet therapy at Faircape Group- Cle du Cap. 💙🤗

Teaching Kindness in the Classroom
Yesterday we were privileged to host and share our expert knowledge on pet care with an enthusiastic group of Grade 6 learners from Primrose Park Primary School in Manenberg who is determined to score top marks for their assignment on “Taking Care of Animals”.
The group (and their teachers) also got to spend some time interacting with the animals in our care where they got to experience and learn how we put our core values of kindness, empathy, generosity, respect, responsibility and integrity into practice in our quest for a more compassionate society.
A huge round of APAWS goes to their school for including the welfare of animals in their syllabus ♥.
Hello everyone! Meet Helene who is all the way from Belgium and our cute boy Cuban who is at the shelter.
This is also just a little update on Cuban and how amazing his new journey has been.
Cuban is a superstar! Very playful and just wants to cuddle.
His tail hasn't stopped wagging, thanks to our followers and donors who was involved throughout his rehabilitation.
Although he still has bare patches here and there, we are happy to announce that Cuban is ready to meet his forever family.
We cannot wait to rehome this boy and have him feel what real love and family is all about.
