Folks, as part of CHPA's Outreach program, our farriers are in McGregor today at Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary assisting these adorable donkeys with their farrier needs.

Just like Sasha who is always on Simba's cart, so is this precious girl called Meisie, who is always on King Mick's cart. She has a terrible skin condition, so after JJ treated her, she was cold and needed to be warmed up as the sun was not strong enough. Megan found a basket and a blanket for her and as you can see, snug as a bug🐹🐹

For owners and drivers to operate a horse and cart on our roads, they need a E53 license. This is a whole day training workshop where Inspector Diana takes them through aspects such as the traffic rules, how to load a cart and what our rules are for them to be able to work on the road. Attendees also receive hands-on training from Head Farrier Ashley, (who was once a cartie himself and has first-hand experience in the industry) on how to properly harness a horse and make sure a cart is in proper working order.

Once the training is complete, candidates are assessed and if they achieve the pass rate of 80%, their picture is taken and they will receive a yellow E53 card, indicating that they are now a legal cart horse operator.

When animals are in need and CHPA are able to assist, we will always pay it forward. Another 300 bales were delivered to them. Darling Denise knits beanies for charity and we were incredibly lucky to be the recipient of her last batch. On 23 August, we offered coffee and rusks to the cart horse owners and drivers and gave them each a unique beanie, made with love. As you can see, it was a lovely morning, filled with smiles and everyone was so thankful for the spoils.

Thank you so much Denise and Jax Parsons Mom, Lorna for the delicious rusks and donated coffee, sugar and milk. Everyone deserves a treat from time to time.

Folks, the majority of the cart horse owners and drivers live in informal settlements, so having a cup of coffee, that we take for granted in the morning before work, is a luxury.

During lockdown, we had an outpouring response to our feed relief fund which we used for feed assistance and continue to assist to this day.

When the Riverlands Flood disaster happened, Dassenberg Horse and Dog Rescue Centre reached out to CHPA for feed assistance for the desperate horses in the area. CHPA did not hesitate and paid it forward and sent them 300 bales of oat hay for the horses in need. A huge thanks to Justine who delivered the oat hay to the different affected areas.

Folks, Siya has entered his FIRST MARATHON EVER, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. He is training very hard and just yesterday, ran 26.01 Km's in 1h:51m:58s👌

If Siya is not exercising inside when it is storming outside, he runs around Bofors circle during his lunch hour without a sweat!

We are very impressed with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment. The DFFE visit organisations and find out what they do with their waste products and then try and find another organisation who might benefit from their waste. This waste does then not find itself in our landfills.

Noredi and Mafuta have put us in touch with several companies who need to get rid of their wood shavings on a weekly basis. CHPA collect for free and deliver to stables that are in need of warm and dry stables. What a WIN WIN partnership!

Thank you DFFE for creating this wonderful initiative and for looking after our Environment.

Mandy, from The Laser Transport Group Pty Ltd in Epping, dropped off a whole box of sandwiches made by their staff on Friday. I was blown away at the heartwarming gesture and generosity of the staff members. Handing out sammies to folks that are hungry, was an incredible experience.
