FEI SHOWJUMPING RULES - SPUR AND WHIP MARKS ON THE HORSE

The FEI is starting to take a much stronger stance against abuse of any kind.

One of the ways they are implementing this is by stating that any marks on the horse caused by the whip or spurs or the rider will result in an immediate disqualification.

The rule refers to any marks on the body caused by excessive usage. The marks do not need to have drawn blood.

Why is the correct bit and bridle fitting so important?
In this picture, the bit is too long. This creates instability in the mouth, extra pressure points, lack of direction, to loose connection between the rider s hand and the horse's mouth.
Also, the buckle of the noseband puts pressure and irritates the lips.
The buckles of the cheek pieces are too high near the TMJ and giving unconfort where we have the proprioception centre of the horse. It will also give more instability and, most of the time, more tension in the poll with less possibility of release.
So even if your tack is not sofisticated, it needs to be fitted properly.

Milnerton Riding School was founded in September 2013.

Our team at Milnerton Riding School are not only passionate about horses and riding, but they started their riding careers at a very young age and felt the need to offer and give other children and adults the same opportunity to discover the wonderful world of horses!

We offer lessons for all levels of riding , beginners, special needs, pony rides & happy hackers. Leasing of horses/ponies. Party venue, pony camps & in-house shows.
