Monday will be the last full day of grooming and we will be staying open until 2pm Christmas Eve for any last minute spruces for Santa paws 🐾

‼️IMPORTANT INFORMATION ‼️

We highly recommend giving any remedies to prevent ticks and fleas, they are prevalent on the mountain at the moment and there is a high chance of picking up a tick or two.

The ticks in South Africa carry the tick borne fever disease which can be fatal for dogs. Prevention is always better than cure.

Please ensure you are doing thorough checks of your dogs coat after doing a mountain walk or anywhere there is long grass, it’s takes 24hrs for the disease to pass through to your dog.

It is important to keep on top of grooming in between your trips to the parlour. Some breeds will need more grooming compared to others but all breeds will benefit from a weekly light groom.

Whatever the coat type, brushing your dog weekly will bring huge health benefits (and less hair around the house) as it helps to stimulate the coat and improve circulation. Not only that, it makes for a great bonding session and the perfect time to do a little health check.

what is a health check?

A health check is checking your dogs overall health from the outside and finding out what is normal for your dog.
Running your hands along the skin to check for any cuts, lumps or abnormalities; check the gums for any change in colour and check the cap refill (press on the gums and time how long it takes for the colour to come back); checking inside the ears, eyes and pads of feet.

Sticking to a good and regular routine will make your trip to the parlour more positive and less costly.

Since opening Pampered Paws I have managed to capture beautiful memories of so many dogs.

Looking through the old and the new, it fills my heart with so much joy and I can only imagine how it feels for the pawrent receiving photos that will last a lifetime.

Not only will I continue to be doing this in store, I will also do it out the store at local dog parks. So keep your eyes peeled for me and feel free to stop me and say hi 👋
