Fun In The Sun โ๏ธ
Adolescent Dogs Class going through the equipment.
This is such a fun way to start class: The obstacle course encourages bonding between dogs and their owners, provides mental and physical stimulation, promotes focus and improves the dog's coordination & confidence.
Look at those tails wagging! ๐๐ฅฐ
Puppy 2 classes take place on Mondays at 5pm at the Noordhoek Football club. If you'd like to join: 0818513330 www.ludovicabarnato.co.za
Do you struggle to get your #dogโs attention when you are out&about?lay the foundation for a good #recall at home with this simple routine. Step 1: in a low distracting environment call your puppy to you and reward once he gets to you. Step 2: toss a treat away from you, call your puppy to you and reward once he gets to you. ALWAYS reward when your dog arrives at your feet and only afterward ask for (& reward for) additional behaviours like a โsitโ. Repeat often ๐ #dogtraininglife #positivereinforcementtraining #recalltraining #clickandtreat

I am so proud of my client and her dog Rosie! Rosie was extremely fearful when we started working together a few months ago. She used to lunge and bark at everyone and everything. In fact, she was very scared of me as well.
She has made huge progress and can now relax in a busy environment (wind, children playing in the school field, people, dogs).
To achieve this level of relaxation a few months ago was unthinkable! Well done to Rosie and her mama Chase <3
This is Grace, a lovely mixed breed pup. She is 9 months old. She is a very high energy and excitable adolescent dog but you can see how focused she is here while practising "leave it". This is a great impulse control exercise that teaches your pup that not everything in the world is theirs for the taking.
To teach "Leave It" you will need high value treats as well as low value treats and a clicker.
Step 1: Hold the low value treat on the floor covered by your hand. In your other hand hold a high value treat. Let your pup smell the lower value treat covered by your hand. As soon as your pup looks away/moves away/stops sniffing the hand covering your low value treat, click and reward with the high value treat.
Step 2: Repeat a few times and as your pup looks away from your low value treat add the verbal cue "leave it!". This helps your dog associating the behaviour with the verbal cue.
Step 3: Start increasing the value of the treat on the floor.
Step 4: Raise the criteria: Place the high value treat uncovered on the floor, then click and reward for leaving it. Drop the high value treat on the floor while saying "leave it" and click and treat. You can even place your high value treats on your dog's paws and ask for a "Leave it".
Happy Training <3

Shadow the Miniature Schnauzer
Clients often hire me to teach their dogs to stop running out the gate/door. Here is an example of how it can be done without using force or intimidation.
