A word from Noelle: "It is an honour to be nominated for the Golden Star Award 2024.
The work done at An Eye for the Wild, is not considered, by myself or my team, to be work, but a passion for the rescue, the rehabilitation and the release but mostly the protection of our Wildlife
Heritage. We believe that Education and knowledge is the key to the conservation of the Wildlife in Zimbabwe. Ever since I can remember my passion has been animals , My dad was involved in vetinary so he would bring home all sorts of little creatures so from a young age I was exposed to animals.
An eye for the wild started off as just a little safe haven for animals that couldn’t be released back into the wild, or that were abandoned as babies or abused by Man.
It has grown into something so much bigger than I couldn’t have even imagined before.
Zulu my epileptic Lion whose Eye is used as our logo was my first inspirational animal that set me firm on this path of rescue.
My goal at An Eye For The Wild is to speak for those who have no voice , nurture and
love all creatures , My goal is to help return the animals we get in back into the wild once they are stable and healthy enough!
Unfortunately sometimes animals we get in can’t be released back into the wild but we give them love and care and try make their living environments as natural as possible.
I’ve had so many connections with all the babies that we get in, but the one animal that really managed to get into my heart was “Africa” my pangolin , her mom was on the trade for weeks and when we finally managed to get her off the trade she was in such bad condition and non
of us knew she was pregnant until I took her out the sack she had been in and she literally gave birth in my hands to her baby which I called “Africa” , Africa was only 100 grams at birth!
Unfortunately her mommy was in very poor condition from being on the trade for so long and she wasn’t able to provide food for Africa and so she rejected Africa , we tried for days to keep their
bond , but Africas mom was not interested, so I took Africa on full time and I was basically her mom, she grew up in my bed and especially loved my shoe cupboard!
Being able to raise Africa from just a tiny Pango Pup was the most amazing experience I have ever had.
Since Africa I have saved quite a few more pangolins from the trade unfortunately sometimes we get them in such bad conditions we can’t pull them through , I guess that’s the hard part of being in this line of work, Sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t. I struggle a lot when I don’t manage to save every life , because it’s not fair and all I want is to be able to save every animal that comes through my door.
After being in this industry for so many years and seeing what Man kind can do I’ve decided to make it my life’s mission to spread as much about conservation as possible and to save as many lives as possible, I feel like that’s my purpose and what I was put on this beautiful earth to do!
I want to spread as much awareness across the world as possible!
It means a lot for me to be nominated because I feel this is a way for me to spread awareness and show people what my organization is about and how important it is to care for each and every life! I am privileged to have my husband, family and a great team supporting me through all the good and bad times, and sharing in all the beautiful memories and moments. As well as God, after all nothing is possible without HIM 🙏
I personally believe a Good Leader works hands on with their team and everyday is a new day to learn something new and be open to other peoples views and opinions, that's how we grow and that's how we become better.
I am honoured to fly the Zimbabwean flag high🇿🇼
~You can’t buy love , but you can rescue it ~"
