The SA Championship (following the Inter-Provincial Tournament), a grand affair over three days, draws riders nationwide for ten different events. team, pair, and individual events.

With minimal time to acclimate, the challenge intensifies, requiring impeccably trained horses and riders to galloping side by side with swords and lances.

We are excited to welcome athletes from around the country, representing an array of clubs.

Bomber started making bits in his garage over 30 years ago and was officially incorporated in 2001. It started with Bomber designing, manufacturing and testing the bits himself… through this process the Bombers bitting philosophy was established guiding his designs ever since.

By watching the frame and composure of a horse, and in particular its head, resistance can be identified and though incremental bitting changes, the Bombers Methodology can help make a good horse great!

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗽𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗯 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘀, 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀… 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀!

A certified Tentpegging judge is allocated to a competition / track and he / she will allocate points for each rider and run.

Competitors aim to achieve a total of 192 across all the items ridden, with a lesser value allocated should a rider miss their target.

The judge will also allocate points based on horsemanship on the track, the way the weapon is handled (set by prescribed rules) during a run, and evenness for items where more than one rider is involved.

Should the required speed (measured over 50m between two speed-meters) not be obtained by the competitor/s for their respective run/s, points are then also deducted based off a “sliding scale”.

Therefore, the Tentpegging scoring formula for each run is:

(Accuracy + Style) – Speed = Final Score
